A breath that could count as a laugh left Calix. He had finished rubbing his skin raw and began to take out his braid. "She sounds weird." With his braid out, he waited until Erisanna was finished speaking before slipping down in the tub and letting the water envelope him. He held his breath under water for as long as he could before breaking the surface to sit up with a small gasp. Reaching over, he grabbed a shampoo and started to lather it into his hair. "A movie sounds great. We can watch whatever you want." Just no scientists.
Though, he also really wanted to crawl under the bed and stay there. "Your dad sounds really great. I always wondered what it would be like to have a dad who liked me." Then his throat closed at that, and his mind flashed with Rucian. He curled, resting his head on his knees.
"I shouldn't be mad at him, right?" Calix whispered. "I shouldn't be mad, because he couldn't do anything, but..." Shaking his head, he pushed himself under the water and washed the shampoo from his hair. He then slowly rose out of the bathtub, standing while clutching tightly onto the wet cloth around him.
"Erisanna, do you want to watch a movie right now?" Calix spoke quietly. "Could you get another dry towel for me?"
Drexel gave her a sorrowful gaze and then carefully stood. He pressed a hand to his temple and applied pressure to try and get his pounding headache to recede. Then, he walked over to Khalida and slid down in front of her, resting his cheek on her knee. "I was angry... I was angry because all these years, I've been the second bondmate. Callaghan loves me, I know he does, but there was someone before me that he loved as well. I never knew the story of what happened to her, and I don't even really know what she was like, or how she was, I just had to deal with the aftermath of her gone..."
Swallowing, Drexel felt some of that fire fill him again, but this time he smothered it. "Rorik was the one who killed her, and the one who broke Callaghan's back. I was angry that he was still... still alive when he had caused Callaghan so much pain."
He looked up at Khalida. "I could easily get so angry at him again, but there's no point. I felt so useless, Khalida, especially," his mouth turned down in anger, "the way he had looked at you."
Already he felt so protective of her. Slowly, Drexel pulled his head off of her and began to shakily stand, his heart skipping in his chest. Callaghan had pointed it out, they were moving to fast. But what was a harmless hug, or kiss, or two? It couldn't be that... it was just because they were friends, right? Because it would be impossible, no--stupid, to be falling for a girl this fast and then to be left completely hopeless like this.
It scared him.

Erisanna waited for him to come back up to giggle happily, "Could we? I'd love tooo! And if you wanted to rest your ankle we could have the servants over the tv to across the bed so you can rest! Hmmm...I want to watch a lot of movies with you! I can show you my favourites- and maybe I'll have the courage to watch that new scary one that is coming out about the cabin!" she giggled, "One day you could meet my dad, if you wanted! I'm sure he'd like you like a son! Oh, uhm, well- n-not like you're married to me but he won't understand the whole Bondmate thing so he'd see you as a son- but you're also a really nice guy so he'd wish you were his son- gah, nevermind." she sighed and blushed.
"Hm? Mad at who...?" she asked carefully, her eyes curious and worried. Had she upset him with talking about her dad?
"Oh, sure!" she jumped from her spot and walked out to grab him a towel, returning after a moment with two dry towels instead. "Here, I got one for your hair too!" she beamed and left them by the tub as she walked out of the room. "I'll...be in here picking out a movie...If I can figure the tv out..."
Khalida stiffened as he drew closer- and was almost completely still when he rested his cheek on her knee. She wanted to run her hand through his hair- but friends didn't do that. It wasn't right...She shouldn't touch someone. Shouldn't spread her damage to others- shouldn't taint them.
"It would be best...If you accepted that he is an evil man who cannot be stopped." the only one she could imagine could had been bested by him- and the other...Well..Wasn't there. She cast her gaze away from Drexel completely when he mentioned how Rorik looked at her.
"You're not as adjusted to the medicine as I am. You should rest...The more you fight it the stronger it gets. Let's get you back to the bed. You need to sleep." she sighed and moved when he did, attempting to help him get back to the bed.
She would stay because he asked her too- but the chair would be where she stayed. She couldn't get too close to him- couldn't allow herself to be so near him less she spread the disease she was...

A small twitch of a smile lifted Calix's lips, though it was incredibly weak. Ones he got the towels, he tried himself off and then dressed. He put drained the bathtub, and then left the wet towel in there, hanging the other two up. After that was done, he limped out to where Erisanna was, watching her with a soft expression. She could help him forget what he's been through, and that helped.
But it would take a while for him to heal completely. He limped over to the couch and settled onto it. "For now we can just sit on the couch..." He murmured. If she sat on the couch, he pulled himself closer to her, missing how comforting it felt to touch her. His arms wrapped around her and he rested his chin on her head.
Calix propped his foot up on the armrest of the couch so that the swelling would go down. "We could make another fort, but hide in it. And when the maids come in to clean it up, we'll jump out and scare them."
Drexel watched her with a distant gaze, and he felt the rift growing between them. It felt like his heart echoed the action, tearing slightly. Didn't she always stiffen when he touched her? Maybe she didn't forgive him like she said.
Maybe it was best to not talk about it.
Turning, he nodded slightly and headed back to the bed. "I want to take a long shower, but.." He nearly fell onto the bed. Instead, he managed to decently pull himself onto the bed and sit at the headboard, feeling more than dizzy. "You shouldn't... you shouldn't have to be well adjusted, Khalida."
Drexel's voice was broken and his brows pulled together. "Khalida... I vowed to make sure he never touched you again, and he did... I'm sorry..."
With that, he slipped under the covers and held them there, shutting out the world so he could drown in his own guilt.

Erisanna cuddled into Calix's grasp instinctively- not even realizing she had until it was too late to move. She clicked some buttons on the remote- accomplishing turning the television on and accidentally darkening room by lowering the shades.
"Oops." she murmured and stared down at the remote as her brows knitted together, "Uhm...Do you know how to work this?" she asked sheepishly, lifting up the remote in defeat.
"Ohhhh, could we?" she asked happily, excitement tracing her face clearly. "I so want to do that!!"
Khalida shifted her gaze down to the floor.
She really shouldn't have to be..But sometimes life wasn't fair. In this case- many times over life had proven its unfairness.
"You can take a shower later, when you are better suited to..." she flicked her pink eyes up to his remorsefully, "No...I'm sorry Drexel..I should have stopped you- or warned you...I." her voice fell to silence and she frowned, stepping away.
"I'll be right here if you need me..." she whispered as she curled up in the chair, wrapping her arms around her legs.

[SKIP]
Erisanna's presence had made Calix feel a lot better, but distraction was different than healing. She was distracting him from the pain of a terrible wound, so he would stop picking at it and making it worse, but even if he was able to forget the pain and share weak smiles, the wound was still there and slowly healing. He still slept under the bed. It felt the safest there. Because, if he was under the bed, that meant that no monsters could sneak there while he was sleeping.
[POWERPLAYING IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH I AM SO SORRY]
Though, before he retreated to under the bed, he watched plenty of movies with Erisanna. His tail curled around her, and when she moved away from its grasp, only for a few moments, Calix would feel the edges of panic pouring through him. Even if they had watched plenty of movies, Calix told Erisanna to save the really scary ones for another day, so that she could have the whole day to get over her fears.
Perhaps, if Bakery doesn't mind, a few days had passed and Calix had been feeling a lot better, even if his stomach was a gaping hole. Whenever he thought of eating, nausea slipped up his throat and made him feel ill.
Not to mention going out of the room. It wasn't just that Calix was afraid of escaping the safety of the room, but he was also afraid of running into Rucian. There was an internal battle that tore at his heart. He knew Rucian couldn't have done anything, and he didn't want Rucian to come, especially if it meant the king was in Rorik's hands.
But at the same time, Rucian didn't do anything. He began to doubt, and wondered what he was to the king. There was that time that Rucian had hugged him, and even when he slept beside the king, and had taken care of him. He even made breakfast for him. But, was Calix anything to the man? Or was he just... expendable? Someone who could be forgotten?
Calix laid on top of the bed, for once, and stared at the ceiling. "Erisanna." He murmured, and then he sat up. "Erisanna, would you like to make the fort today?" He wanted to stop thinking about Rucian. It made him feel ill and confused.
Drexel rolled over in bed and then slowly pulled himself out of it. A yawn split his lips and he stepped out of bed. Glancing at his phone, he saw that he had two missed calls. Each from Callaghan. And he had two voice mails--plus a text.
A grin lifted his lips. What Rorik had done to him really hadn't effected him. The only thing he felt was a small bit of the lingering drug, but it was mostly out of his system, and the guilt. It weighed on him so heavily that he had to force himself to eat all meals.
Standing, he walked over to his things and looked through them, only to pause and look up at Khalida. He asked her not to leave him, and she stayed. It made him feel conflicted, yet extremely happy. Because she could hear what he said during phone calls, he had an extreme texting session with Callaghan.
It didn't help.
With a sigh, he walked over to Khalida and leaned on the backside of the couch. "I want to see how Seraphina is fairing, and Calix."
His heart felt so heavy...

"Fort?" Erisanna squealed and ran towards the closeted, yanking out sheets and pillows and blankets off all kinds- as well as the ones on the bed. "Yessssssssss!! I can show you the one me and my siblings used to make! We used to call it The Ebony Castle when we were younger- but this one can be the Ivory castle! The rival to te Ebony and far more advanced! The comfiest of fabrics and blessings used- imported goods from all over!" She squealed happily and began to move furniture out of the way for their fort.
[PRETED THAT HERE IS WHERE THE BAR THING IS BECAUSE I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT ON MOBILE]
Khalida gave a smile at his whining, setting her book down after she marked the page. "Why don't we go see them, then? It would be nice to socialize and see how they're doing..." She nodded and stood, truning toward him, "which do you want to see first?"

Her excitement was toxic. Immediately, he was off the bed. The throbbing of his ankle was minor by now, but he still pushed himself to help move furniture, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "So, are you to Queen and I your knight? Or am I your king?" The tease came with a small, teasing smile. He followed instruction, if given any, and grabbed blankets for her. "Or perhaps I'm a spy from the Ebony Castle, here to figure out all the weak points in your fortress so we can take over." Storytelling was on of Calix's favorite past times.
A sigh left Drexel, and his shoulders slumped. "I suppose we should see Calix first, right? Because he's closer. But.." Reaching up, Drexel rubbed his face. He forced himself to straighten and to bear the weight of the guilt on him. "Socializing will be good practice for you," he teased, a smirk twitching his lips. Without Callaghan there, he would have to be careful around Rucian. He wasn't sure how Rucian was going to react, and Callaghan wasn't here to protect him from Rucian's force. The knob was cold when he took it in his hands and held the door open for Khalida.

"Well, because we're Bondmates, obviously we're the king and queen, duh X-man." Erisanna giggled and tossed a pillow at him, "But you can be the king exiled from the Ebony castle seeking revenge on the people who cut you out of your old life- you started with nothing to loose and gained everything, Now is the time to strike!" she giggled uncontrollably as she pounced toward him, grinning down into his eyes.
"Which reminds me. If Rucian is King, does that make Seraphina the Queen? I forgot to ask him...Ah, well. Right now we're the royals here!" she giggled and beamed down at him as she rolled away, folding some blankets between a chair and the wall to create the top of the tent- a night light roof to light some light in. "You can construct the outer walls if you want, we need a good defense that will let in a night breeze- and good hiding spots to scare those who dare step foot into out territory!"
"If that is whom you want to see first, to Calix it is then." Khalida offered a gentle smile in return- which grew slightly at the remark her made about her being social.
"That is up for debate, but not at this moment. My social life is fine the way it is, thank you." she gave a laugh and slipped past him, her eyes flickering over to his.
She'd wanted to ask about his state of health- but seeing that he barely put his phone down today, she guessed Callaghan was taking care of that.
What were the boundaries of friends? What was she allowed to say and do- and what wasn't she? It was normal to be worried about his mental health, right? From a friends stance?
Yeah, it had to be.
The things Rorik did weren't the worse he could do- but it was still pretty traumatic. It only made sense he would be...More than shaken up about this.
"How are you feeling, by the way?" she asked softly, almost unsure as she asked, "If that's okay for me to ask?"

Calix's lips broke into a wider smile at the pillow. He would have tried to laugh, but he didn't want to make it sound terribly sad and pathetic. Instead, he began working on the walls of the fort, shaking his head. When she mentioned Rucian, his throat tightened, and he said quietly, "I don't know." He felt his entire mouth become dry and he focused on making the walls of the fort.
After he cleverly put up the walls of the fort, he was quite impressed with himself, and how the fort was looking. He walked over to the bed and grabbed pillows, and extra blankets. Walking over to the fort, he crawled through the entrance and began making comfy bed. "Do we have archers?"
Drexel chuckled lightly when she didn't take offense to his joke. When she asked, he pressed his lips tightly together and let out a sigh, glancing over at her. "Truthfully, I feel extremely guilty..." Again, he sighed and rubbed his temples and shook his head. "I want to apologize so many times, but no matter what, it's still there."
Shaking his head, Drexel smiled tightly at Khalida, reaching out to hold her hand. Though, he hesitated and pulled his hand back and crossed his arms, glancing away as they walked down the hallway.
(Are Rucian and Seraphina going to be visiting Calix soon, or does Drexel visit first?)

"Huh, I'll have to ask later then...Archers? Ohhhh, that's a good idea! We should have extra ammo too in case we get ambushed. Maybe we can use the throw pillows on the couch for that?" she asked and crawled over to the couch herself, turning it slightly so it could be used to store the extra supplies.
"I hope you plan to share that bed." she giggled as she set up the back wall and the final touches on the top of the fort- "Because I just ran out of blankets..." she turned to smile at him and crawled back over to where he was. "Hmmmmm, Calllllllllliiiiiiii."
Erisanna wrapped herself around him if she could, snuggling against him happily. She hoped he would begin to feel better soon...He hadn't eaten in what seemed like forever. "You haven't made me foood in so looooooooooooong...I miss your cooking..." she pouted.
Maybe, just maybe, if she got him to make food for her she could coax him into sharing it with her- or eating some for himself.
"Hmm..I understand that. One day, you will see it was not your fault." or you'll forever feel this way... "Only if you are willing to accept that it isn't, that is." she shrugged and offered a light smile, hopefully one that seemed helpful.
Had he been reaching for her? If he had- he had given up...Which was probably for the best. Although it made her incredibly sad- it was better this way. He could find someone so much better than she. Someone who deserved him and could lift him, push him to his best instead of damaging what he already was.
Someone who wasn't Khalida.
Khalida folded her arms behind her back, keeping her gaze down as she watched her feet.
"I wonder," she thought aloud, "What Calix and his Bondmate are up too...What was her name again? Sera- no, Analyse?" she asked mindlessly, attempting to fill the air with something other than this awkward silence.
(Drexel can go first XD)
