Carol was blushing massively- her whole entire body felt aflame at hearing Elidi's words. She could hardly look any of them in the eyes- not James or Elidi and certainly not Jerold.
"It's okay~ we'll start off nice and slow." Elidi hummed playfully, giving a sultry growl for added kicks.
On the inside she was laughing out of her skin. All of their faces were priceless- especially Jem's.
When he began to peel himself out of her grip the laughter spilled out- and actually giggle escaping from her lips. She couldn't help it- it was just so funny! His embarrassment and his neighbors faces- truly priceless. Besides, making a comment about how much she was paid for was going to warrant a response of some kind- how did they not see this coming?
Jerold pushing Jem was enough to make Elidi's hands land on the hilts of two of her daggers- her eyes dangerously sharp, her senses heightening with adrenaline. If this woman was going to attack she would be sorry for it.
She didn't even spare a teasing comment toward Jem about his robe. Still... The desperation in Jerold's eyes- and the shattered should in Carol's locked up body...
She had to do something.
As they turned to leave, Elidi stood and moved her hands from her daggers, her hand digging into one of the pouches on her belt- her fingers brushing across what she was searching for.
"As much as I'm enjoying your wardrobe," Elidi smirked toward Jem, blinking and blowing a playful kiss, "you might not want to rest of the world to be in on your big secret. Go change, I may have something to help them.."
Elidi jogged after Jerold and Carol. "Hey, you two, wait a minute." She approaced the trip carefully, her eyes watching them with a serious tone- all joking having disappeared.
Carol blushed and tugged on Jerold's sleeve- "Jerold- she...the woman wants to tell us something."
"No, one of your attentions is good enough." Elidi assured with a soft smile, "if you're going to be out of work," she started as she reached back into her ouch, grasping the coin that held the sumbol of The Dragon's Spine and a name. She extended It to Carol if Jerold had stopped long enough for Carol to take it. "Find this symbol in Letha and ask for Madame Karma. You'll be lead to someone who more than happily offer you work." She pressed the coin into Carol's hand and turned back toward Jem's house. "Oh, and don't worry, I'm just his long time friend with a sense of humor- not part of a brothel."

Jem stuttered a incoherent response to Elidi's words, and then he frowned at her. Blushing deeply, he quickly moved to go get changed. He didn't think his 'big secret' sneaked out to say hello, but if it had... Gods, he didn't want to think about it. Guilt did pinch him. How could he of not think about that? How selfish, really. Then anger skipped across his guilty surface. Just because he employed them didn't make him bound to this house.
Really! They should have shown an ounce of gratefulness! The job wasn't even that bad. They only had to occasionally wash a few dishes, and dust things! And his laundry, of course, but he paid them as if they were cleaning up after a terrible party. And they always acted afraid of him, no matter how kind he was.
Quickly, the anger dissolved and he sighed, falling back into embarrassment as he hit the bathroom. Sliding the robe off, he began to dress. I'll ask Elidi what she did, and then try and figure out something for them.
A frown then pulled down on his lips.
Maybe he should scorn her, too.
Or ignore her. That's a good punishment too.
Jerald's eyes narrowed on Elidi, watching her for a few moments. Then, her anger flitted away to curiosity. Glancing down at the coin, she flickered her gaze up to Elidi. "A long friend? And he hasn't sucked you dry?"
Her eyes flickered over to Carol, a frown on her lips. "Well, since that's how it is, I suppose I'll keep a couple hundred." With a small smile, Jerald tried to pull Carol back to their house. "Then again, for all we know, her race could suck the life force out of people..." She muttered that last part to herself.

"His humor can be a bit dry- but that's about all I can vouch for him and dryness." Elidi shrugged, eyeing Jerold cautiously. "You judge so freely without even bothering to find the truth.. Do not bind yourself to such closed minded opinions- otherwise when you are in need things could turn sour." She sighed and turned toward the house slowly, "Many people come from all walks of life. It would be wise not to, shall we say, judge a book by it's cover."
With that, Elidi was gone from their sight. Only a small smirk remained on her lips as she shut the door to Jem's house.
Judged once more- and not even in Letha! What a shame... The job would still be open for both of them, however. They were in need- who was she to deny anyone in need the help they deserved?
Having made her way to the chair she sat in before that mess had happened, Elidi fixed her hair into a tight ponytail. Her black jumpsuit clung to her body, her weapon sheaths rubbig against the others as she sat down. Her guild could use two people like those two...information collectors, at best, with as nosey as they were..
Her red eyes were locked onto the flickering fire, her mind eons away from where she was sitting, running miles ahead of her attention span. Everything she had been planning was finally coming together. Everything she had dreamed of years ago now on route to become reality.
It was almost elating.
Carol blushed and stared down at the dark coin- it had looked like the bones of a dragons wings, it's spine bleeding down into roots binding it to the earth. At the top, in scripted letters it read: 'The Dragon's Spine'.
"Jerold.."Carol whispered, showing her the coin, "this kind I looks like something for a private owned business- and look how well it's crafted- it must have been expensive!"
Who was that woman? What race was she?
Either way, she'd given them work.
"So...to Letha, then?" Carol asked quietly, leaning closer to Jerold slightly. Her skin still felt bone cold after having to talk to Mr.Davenport- and almost loosing all sources of income for her and Jerold...

After he finished dressing--this suit was more of one that he could use when he was a phantom thief, it was all black, including the shirt. The only dash of color was a vest that was dark and had a silvery purple design within it. Rolling up his sleeves, he stepped out into the hallway and then slipped into the room, raising a brow at Elidi.
Even if it seemed as if she weren't there--mentally speaking, he spoke, "If you really wanted me to move, you could have just asked, you know." With a frown, he set his blood wine down on the coffee table and sat down on a chair near Elidi, resting his arms on his knees as he watched her.
"Elidi, what you did," he blushed deeply and pressed his lips tightly together before shaking his head. "I am a man, and you could have made situations very awkward. Just because I choose not to bed people often doesn't mean that I can't bed them."
This conversation was too embarrassing already. Shaking his head, Jem looked up at her and ran his fingers through his wet hair. Instead of tying it back, he let his hair stay loose. The light colored ends curled in different ways around his neck, already beginning to wave. "What did you say to those girls? And did you drink your water?"
Jerald couldn't help but admire Carol's blush. A blush always fit her cheeks well, and made her look so innocent... so unlike Jerald herself. Her eyes flickered up into Carol's eyes and she smiled lightly. "Yes, to Letha, I suppose. I've never moved outside of Era, so this will be a magnificent adventure, don't you think?"
She couldn't help but notice Carol leaned closer, and she didn't pull away. In fact, her mind went back to their hands.
Too bad Carol was innocent, and beautiful.
And straight.
Letting go of Carol's hand, she walked back to the house, leaving the door open for Carol. "I suppose we should get to bed then. And pack up. Mr. Davenport certainly is scary, but my is he good looking, don't you think? And so is that woman..." But, Carol wasn't interested in the woman.

Elidi turned to him after a minute- the reality still returning to her eyes as she did such- the vacancy almost gone by the time she rolled her eyes. "Oh please, it was a joke, grumpy fangs. Don't get your shorts in a knot. I didn't even say anything about you not being able to- and it was me they were offending anyways!" She growled darkly, flicking her gaze to his. "What do you want? An apology? Fine. I'm sorry I embarrassed you whilst defunding myself and my honor in front of your nosey neighbors. I won't do it ever again." She crossed her arms over her chest and crossed her legs. Elidi's face turned toward the fire in a pout- anger shimmering in her eyes. "There, happy?"
"Does it look like I had any time to drink the water?" She asked, motioning to the still full glasses. She picked one up and took a long drink- her brows still knitting together in anger as she did such. She had already said she wouldn't drink them in spite of him- but damn it she was thirsty.
She knew he meant the best- he wasn't doing this to be spiteful or mean..yet, she was defending herself! He hadn't even said a word about them suggesting she was a whore! Unless he agreed with them...did she really look like one?
Whatever. To the sunny skies with all three of them for all she cared.
"How can you be mad at me for that, anyways?" She asked with a splicing shot of hurt dashig through her gaze. "You didn't say anything in my defense- not that I need anyone's help. I can defend myself- but if that's what you think I look like or if that's what I am-" she stopped and took in a sharp, angry breath. "Whatever. I don't care....all I did was offer them some stupid job for the guild. Gave them a coin of the guild and anywhere they spend it I will be contacted and they'll be brought to see me so we can talk it over more then." She muttered and rested her elbow on the arm of the chair, only to rest her head on her hand anyways. "It's not a big deal."
"An adventure indeed! I'm a bit excited!" Carol gave a small smile- but it fell away as Jerold took her hand from Carol's.
Damn...
"I suppose so- I really did enjoy the way she was confident with herself- otherwise, who could pull of such joking? She reminded me of you, in a way.."Carol blushed deeply, her entire face burning.
Did he really just admit that?
"Jerold...promise me that we'll never live apart from each other." Carol whispered suddenly, her heart needing some sort if conformation that Jerold would stay with her. "Please?"

Jem couldn't help but watch her with a smile. He slowly stood and walked over to her, watching her drink. Gently, he crouched in front of her and took her free hand, squeezing it between his. "Elidi, you got my words wrong. What I am saying is that you are very beautiful." His eyes were soft as he looked up at her. "I know you can handle yourself with people, which is why I didn't stick up for you, I'm sorry. Did you want me to?"
A blush played at his cheeks and his eyes lowered to his hand as he played with it, gently opening it if he could and running his fingers across her soft flesh. "And I meant that you teasing me like that means that it might be hard for me to resist. Then we would all be embarrassed if nature took it's course with my 'big secret'." Chuckling, he turned her hand over to kiss her knuckles, looking up at her with an innocent look.
"Please, Elidi? Will you please drink that water for me? I'm truly worried with you, and I would feel so guilty if you fell from a dizzy spell because I drank from you." Jem smiled softly at her and reached up to cup her cheek. "That was very clever of you to offer them a job, and it saves me a lot of worrying. Now all I have to do is give them a sizable bonus. Thank you, Elidi. Truly." Reaching up, he kissed her cheek to show his gratitude.
Jerald smirked at Carol's words. "I'm not that confident in the face of a ketsuki." Then, her heart sputtered at Carol's last words. It took her entire will to make sure that she didn't blush. Stepping forward, Jerald put her hands on Carol's shoulders and squeezed them, "I swear to you that if it's my choice, and in my power, I will always be beside you."
That sounded like something said at a wedding.
Her heard pounded heavily in her check. Damn. Gods, why was Carol so cute? She made it so difficult to resist her, but... Carol was innocent.
And straight.

Parts of Elidi that were defiant against Jem's touch wanted her to scream and snatch her hand away, to tell him not to feed her that load of crap- but the larger portion of her subconscious melted at his touch despite that fire in her veins. Her anger melted away into a blush that bloomed across her face- like lilacs in midnight. His eyes weren't helping either- the soft pale ivory nearly drove her met. She coul feel his eyes on her body, tracing moonbeams into her skin, perhaps even lacing over the areas where her white tattoos were noticeable. She couldn't tell- and was most likely imagining these things.
Beautiful? Did he honestly think that?
His hands taking hers was unexpected- and when he did trace the lines and kiss her knuckles she had become a gelatinous matter- dark purple putty in his hands. He didn't even realize it, either. Or maybe he did... Clever fool.
Elidi struggled to speak through the lump in her throat- to snap back with a witty retort took a second longer than it usually did. "I'll have to try harder next time." She finally managed with a weak smirk, avoiding his eyes.
Gods damn him. Skies damn him. Just. Damn him. Everything. No one should have this much power over a person- to be able to turn even the headrest of hearts into putty so effortlessly- to break under the most solid of walls and armor as if it was nothing...too much power for anyone- too much against Elidi.
"N-no." She sighed. Well. Looked like he would know one way or another how to get her to comply- whether the blush, her weak voice or inability to meet his eyes have it away, he would be dumb not to see it. "I didn't want you too- I can handle myself."
I just thought you would. "I already said that it wasn't a big deal..." She murmured, her blush seeping into a maroon as his hand cupped her face, "It was me doing myself a favour- not you or th-them."
When his lips met her cheek she nearly groaned in frustration. He had to know what he was doing- this sly little bastard knew fully what the hell he was doing! She was already melted to the touch, her skin aflame with her erradic heart beat- but now he wanted to melt the marrow in her bones, didn't he? Was he not satisfied with her ending awestruck by te lightest of touches? Must he have her soul broken down as well? Surely that must be the only thing he was after here. It was the only explanation. That sly fox.
"Fine. I'll drink the damn water." She murmured again, but her voice had grown softer, loosing the edge she had tried so hard to keep. Quickly she gulped down another mouthful- trying to bring back some control over herself.
Gods why did he have to be so damn gentle?
Carol blushed and stepped forward to hug Jerold- if she could. She clung to her, resisting the want she had to press her ear to Jerold's heart and take in her scent.
"Thank you...I hope that can be always...and forever." She whispered- almost crying right there on the spot.
It felt like she was swearing her loyalty- and in a way, she was. A new life with Jerold in a new land...maybe things could be different.
Maybe she could finally summon the courage to actually tell Jerold how she felt- maybe.
Releasing Jerold, Carol wiped away the stray tears. "Let's go back to bed.."

While he managed to keep it all hidden beneath the surface--which was new for Jem--he was surprised how... subdued she seemed. And her blush was magnificent. Puzzle pieces clicked together and he slowly put this away. So this was how she should be treated. He loved seeing her this way, it had to be a crime. Her reactions to his touches... he wanted to explore and see what her reaction would be to each and every single one of his attentions.
Jem's eyelids lowered in an emotion that was new to him, lust. Quickly, he brushed it away, embarrassed by it, and smiled lightly at her. Pulling away from her, he patted her knee and slowly stood. Knowing that she wouldn't like him standing over her, he paced away from her, thinking. "Thank you, little blushing star."
In truth, if he had thought Jerald's words were meant to be hurtful, he would have been angry. But even if he scared his two neighbors, he had gotten to know them somewhat. If Jerald wanted to hurt someone, they would know. And since Jerald's words were more of her open curiosity and lack of thinking things through, he hadn't thought that any reprimanding was needed.
"Elidi," Jem stopped pacing and yawned into his hand. "I am quite tired. I've gotten two hours of sleep. If you would like, you could run your fingers through my hair to get me to sleep. Platonic, of course. I hope you don't mind, but it's been centuries since I've had anyone there to comfort me, and I'm going to use you." With a smirk, he glanced at her. "Of course, if you would like to."
Then his lips pursed and he suddenly looked flustered. "Ah, wait. Never mind. I just remembered I don't own pajamas."
Shock stiffened Jerold's spine until she finally softened into Carol's hug. Gently, she rubbed her back, her eyes soft. Perhaps, if Carol and Jerold have known each other for a while, what if they shared a bed. It could have started when Carol was younger, and perhaps the "tough man" that Jerald ran away to could have been Carol's uncle, or even father.
When Carol was younger, she could have been afraid at night, or even Jerald use to be afraid, so they began to sleep next to each other.
It could have been a habit since.
"Alright, Carol, let's go..." A yawn took over Jerald and she laughed softly. "That was a big one."

Feeling almost completely dismembered by all of his gentleness, Elidi took the time to recollect herself.
'Little Blushing Star'? Oh gods... He could tell- he could see! He even patted her knee! Elidi wanted to hide her face away, to stop him from getting to see this side of her- but she couldn't move. She was still nothing more than jelly thanks to Jem.
Elidi's eyebrow began twitching for the next round of words- how dare he knowingly turn her into mush and then back off- playing with her- toying with her? That stupid, stupid fool!
Sure, turn her to mush all he wanted- but toy with her and taunt her afterwards was a death wish she could grant.
"Gods damn you..." She muttered and stood defiantly, setting down the first empty glass. "You know, I could quickly break that headboard of yours so we can keep true to our word for the neighbors- but other than that, I'm afraid you won't get graced with my presence any longer. Good night, Jem. Fuck you- ah, platonically, of course." She smirked, giggled and walked out of the room, middle finger in the air.
And with that- she had gone I the guest room, where she threw herself on the bed without a second thought- and tried to forget that Jem now knew how to unwind her completely.
PSUEDO IS SO DOWN WITH THAT IDEA YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW.
"It was." Carol agreed with a big smile and leaned against Jerold again as they walked- if she would let her, of course.

Confusion filled Jem's eyes when she stormed off. He watched her walk awayand pursed his lips in thought, wondering if he should walk after her. Maybe he should give her a few moments to calm down. Taking his blood wine, he sipped the rest and moved to return the empty glasses back downstairs. He had a small smile on his lips. She couldn't be mad because she was like that, can she? Jem purposely toying with someone? Not extremely likely. Though, he did admit to having fun seeing her so... soft. A selfish part of him wanted no one else to be able to see that part of her.
Sneaking back upstairs, he grabbed the tray that still had the two glasses and quietly sneaked into the guest room, walking as quietly as he did on one of his heists. After placing the tray on a bedside table, he sneaked back out. Perhaps the only noise that gave him away was the door clicking shut when he left.
Walking back into his own room, he began discarding his clothes, folding them and placing them to the side. Remaining in his "knickers", he slid into bed and let out a long sigh. Despite the day's events, guilt twitched his heart and stayed there. Luckily, though, he was tired enough to fall asleep before the hord of guilty thoughts crashed over him.
Jerald followed Carol, smiling lightly. Her own eyes were soft. In truth, Carol was probably the only person Jerald probably attempted to be nice to and consider her feelings. With anyone else, Jerald didn't have much time for them. Except for children. She had plenty of time for them, especially ones on the street. If only Carol did do such cute things, like lean on her, then maybe life wouldn't be as hard as it seemed. Maybe she would stop wishing for things that wouldn't happen.
(Where do we skip? XD)
