It wasn't that he felt hated by them, he knew they still cared for him. How long would that last..? Poor little Porter, never before had he felt so out of place, left behind.
Little Porter stepped through the kitchen and stopped in front of Joy. He saw that she was busy but he needed something. "Joy...? Could-could you help me get me my cereal-"
"Oh, Porter, could you please wait a bit?" She spoke in a soft tone but Porter could still tell when he was being told to go away. "I'm busy taking care of the baby."
~
"Zero? Will you play checkers with me? Please?" Porter asked, eagerly holding the chess board, following his adopted brother as they stepped down the hall way.
"Ah, sorry Porter," Zero said with a frown, reaching down to rustle the boy's hair. "I have to go somewhere with Tex, alright? I'll play with you later." ~
They always said they'd play a quick game with him later but he knew they wouldn't. Joy was always busy taking care of the baby. Zero was always busy with Tex, the resistance,or the baby. None of the other visitors in the house paid attention to him. No one really did.. The worst part about it all was that whenever he saw either Joy or Zero with the baby, he always thought of his own parents, mainly his dad though... Oh how he missed his father..
It wasn't a hard decision to make, nor was it easy to leave but Porter decided to pack up whatever he had- which included a few toys, his checkers, and a few clothes- and decided to find his mother since she was still alive, or so he hoped.
Porter wasn't a dumb boy. In fact, he was really good at reading maps. With his map, Porter headed off to town, looking for his mother that had left him behind when his dad died.
(you could always have the mom walking down the street or Zero watching him, whatever you want.. idk.)

Oh Zero knew. With all the millions of bats he had, of course he knew. Porter's leaving troubled him greatly, the boy was only just a boy, so he looked for his with. If he found her, wherever she was, he maybe wrapped his arms around her, watching Porter through his bats. "Dear..." His voice sounded pained. "Dear, I don't know what to do," He said ever so sadly, his eyes full of sadness. "Porter... he's... he's running away I think..." Closing his eyes, he focused through the eyes of the bat, watching Porter close and curiously.
Of course he was pained, who wouldn't be? What had he even done to drive Porter away. "He didn't even say goodbye..." Zero said softly, and only to Joy would he let his pain show so clearly, even still he did not cry, there was no reason to, yet. "I might follow him, dear... I don't want to leave you alone with Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest and Sleepy."
Meanwhile, alone a side walk, there was a woman with a classy coat and high heals. Her hair was curled into tight curls with a hat covering her head. Her head was low as she walked, she meant business. And well, she was heading somewhere important. Perhaps a job of some sort, or even maybe the grocery store.
Cloudy wasn't sure how Shadow wanted this woman presented though... it's okay if Shadow tells her to try again.

Shadow can tell you that Joy was upset and saddened to hear that Porter had decided to run away. Maybe she had been told of the age old incident with the slavers, and she had been there with the suffering boy when Zero was in the camps. It was more than clear to her that out on the streets or by himself, Porter wouldn't last long.
In reply to Zero wrapping his arms around her, Joy did the same so that she was hugging Zero, if she could, trying to lull her head against him. "Zero," her voice was soft. "I'll be okay here, but you need to go after him before something happens to him." She moved her head so that she was looking up at him. "What if something does happen to him? I know I'll be okay, but he won't be.."
So, since Shadow has no other idea, maybe Porter did recognize the woman. Maybe, he nearly dropped his cute little map as he hurried over to her. How cute, especially when his eyes started to water and Porter extended his arms out so he could hug her. He even shouted, "Mom! Mommy!" as he raced over to her. Poor Porter.. little did he know he was as undesirable as Nate was.

Zero nodded, his eyes saddening, "Yes, of course, my love..." He spoke softly, after laying a gently kiss on her lips he went to pull away, running his fingers through her hair. "If Dumb asks where I am, tell her where, alright?" He said softly, going to pull away from Joy, looking at her with longing eyes. "Be safe, alright, Joy?" With one last kiss, he went to escape from one of the holds he loved the most then slipped out from the house, following the way Porter had went.
Zero had been careful while following Porter, maybe he grabbed a jacket to blend into crowds. Through his bats, he watched, and he couldn't help but freeze where he was when he heard Porter's cries. His heart cracked and he began to understand why Porter ran away.
The woman looked up surprised, at first she stared at the strange boy, "You must be confused, dear boy-" She paused, her eyes widening as she realized who it was. "P-Porter..." Paling, she took a step back away from him, trying to push him off. "Y-You lived..."

That was an odd thing to say, but Porter was too happy to think otherwise. He didn't really notice his mother try to push him away either. Instead, Porter tried to bury his face if he could. "I know I did," the boy said, looking up at her with a smile. "And I came to find you." Little Porter than went to hide his face again, about ready to cry. "I'm so happy I found you, Mommy.."

The mother felt guilty simply throwing this child away, especially with so many eyes, so she awkwardly patted Porter's back. "O-Oh... yeah..." Her eyebrows pushed together slight. "C-Come on d- Porter." She tried to step away from him. "I am in a bit of a hurry... if you want you can come back with me..." Her skin boiled, she just wanted this child to leave her alone again.

It's truly sad when a child puts so much faith and happiness into a parent who doesn't really want them. Nate was a fine example and now Porter shall be. So, Porter pulled away from his mother but reached up to take her hand if he could, smiling now because she was, in his mind, taking him back in. Now, if dear Cloudy doesn't know what to do, we can always skip to them going home and either have step dad come in for the first time or Porter's half siblings come in and become bullies.

So, the mother walked, feeling too guilty to shake away Porter's hand but she tried to hide her face from the world, ashamed of the child beside her. On the way back, she took more secluded streets, fear striking her heart because she knew her new husband was not going to be very happy. "Porter, darling," The woman said carefully, her voice shaking as she reached the steps of the house. Her hand reached for the handle and turned it carefully. "There... y-you have h-half brothers and h-half sisters now, w-where h-have you been? H-How did you survive?" Then hopefully, she added, "Did you find a cure?"

"Oh, no.. I didn't find a cure.. I didn't know I was supposed to be looking for one, Mommy." Poor Porter, he wasn't exactly the happiest kid anymore when he heard he had siblings, especially since his father was dead. "No, I was alone and I had found a safe place in an alley to stay but.. but I knew I was going to end up like Daddy did and..... but then, Zero saved me. He's a ketsuki who's attracted to pain and he helped and he took me in. He's like my brother! He's so awesome and he fights away bad guys and he plays checkers with me whenever I ask him to.." But I didn't say goodbye..

Even in the painful situation, Zero couldn't help but smile from where he was. Porter, I love you too, kid, His eyes watered and he shook his head, letting it drop down into his hands.
"Is that so?" The mother's voice shook just a bit as she opened the door and went to lead Porter inside. "Why... why did you come find me?" In the distance of the house, children's voices were heard, either playing or arguing over something.
(I'm guessing I'm the trouble daddy? XD or are you?)
