Inu
Also Known As: Celestial Shifters
Region of Origin: Adalinda
Information:
Inu are shape shifters, though different and distinguishable from anigma and akuma. They are a spiritual people who respect nature and they live in separate tribes though they are not nomads. Though they believe in the main god of the land, the Inu have their own myths and legends to explain the world around them, though they are a primative people with little technology from the outside world.
Inu can effortlessly transform into any member of the feral canine and feline family. (Some domestic dog breeds will pass but don't make little dogs. There is the same uncertainty for domestic cats. Ask first if you plan on making a domestic dog/cat character or tribe for verification.) Based on the location of the tribe, the type of canine/feline they transform into varies.
These tribes are run by a chief who can either be a male or female. Under them is the shaman who deals with medical scenarios and run spiritual ceremonies. The shaman, one or more, can be either male or female. Under them are the warriors who also serve as hunters. They use weapons such as bows or blades of any type. They can be male or female. Under them is everyone else though everyone (save for chiefs and shamans) is treated equally.
Appearance:
Living for centuries at the base of the Bolivar Mountain range, they have evolved paler skin due to the ruthless weather, though there have been cases of darker skinned Inu and their eye color can vary greatly as well as any hair color which reflects in their fur when they transform. In human form, men are typically taller and their body type can vary based upon their work. In human form, women are as they are usually. Common clothing for this race includes fur or animal hides, or they can be made from fabrics traded and or stolen from the resident talking animals based on where the tribe is located. Feathers and beads are a common accessory. The most important feature about this race are the animal masks they wear to cover their faces. These masks, worn all the time unless with family, typically depict an animal's face though they can have any sort of set of colors. (Not a rainbow though. Sorry. Certain number of colors in the color scheme.)
In canine or feline form, the distinction comes into play. The males are larger and bulkier in build. The females are smaller and leaner. A common trait for each is their pelts consist of tribal markings, and they are larger than the average height of the canine they shift into. In this form, their masks are still seen as is any type of jewlery. In their canine or feline form only, some have been known to possess horns, such of those from a deer, a ram, and animals like that.
Average Height: Varies
Average Weight: Varies
Lifespan: 200-300YRS
Magic:
Most Inu are born without magic, save for their ability to transform. Those who are powerful or are destined to become the shaman are born with earth and or healing magic. They cannot be born with the ability of any other elemental magic.
History:
The Inu have been around since the near beginning of Adalinda. When the main god of the land, Cadoc, became enraged and exterminated or exiled the humans of the land, he allowed the spiritual Inu tribes live for they respected nature and would never intentionally harm it. Though the god of the land spared them, that did not save them from the horrid discrimination of the talking animals. Hated for their human half, they were forced into hiding, hiding away in the very edges of the land or the darkest caves where they could not be sought. They prospered for centuries. Recently, with the destruction of the land, the death of the populations, and the weakening of Cadoc, they have been able to come out of their hiding but remain wary of the darkened land. Because they are a spiritual people, the hold no ill will towards the so many innocents that have died and pay tribute to them, burying them and mourning for them as they should. But will they be able to help the dead land?
(Please ask if you wish to make a tribe.)
