A massive yawn parted the girl's lips as she stretched out her cramped muscles. She felt her shoulder joints pop as she tugged on them, working out all the sleep from the night before. She stood, stretching on her legs as she went. The girl couldn't remember the last time she had sleep that good. Then again, she really couldn't remember the last time she'd seen her old tree house. A warm smile curled her lips as she gazed at the wooden poles that kept the house strong. Sure it wasn't as roomy as she remembered, but then again there were only the four of them.
Her legs carried her over to the designated kitchen area and he poked her head out of the opening, brushing leaves from her hair as she moved about. Her brow knitted slightly when she didn't see her partner. Damos? Her silent call was in turn answered with silence. Though she shrugged it off. This was her forest. Her birth place. Both partners knew the place like the back of their hand, or paw. She giggled at her mental correction and continued to tour her old home.
Mimi wandered back over to the large living room area, her eyes scanning the wood. Slowly she moved toward three small etches in the wood. She smiled once more, running her fingers along the scars in the wood. "Even after all this time, Armond's mark is still here." She pressed her fingers to her lips, then pressed them against the wood. "I miss you Big Brother."
That's the last time, I leave you alone. You're getting all sentimental on me, kiddo. Damos padded along, his mouth filled with eggs from a nest. We got breakfast for everyone.
Mimi trotted over to the lever and pull, a slight bounce in her step. "We?" She stopped short, feeling her smile fall. She stepped back, throwing up her defenses.
"Yes, Ms Wolf Princess, we." The older female ushered Damos into the small area and set her own catch on the counter. "Your partner seemed willing enough to come along and help with breakfast so we went together."
Mimi suppressed a sneer. Everything about the older woman made her wrinkle her nose. She didn't know what it was, but she knew she couldn't stand her. She only tolerated Annabelle because of Chance. If she somehow made him happy, which she still found hard to believe, then she'd stand it. Though she found herself glaring down at Damos. She didn't even need to say anything for him to know she was displeased.

Dreams, they haunted Chance since that first day he met Annabelle. They left him sleepless and terrified. Last night had been one of the nights that he could sleep peacefully without disturbance of any dreams, or nightmares. Which was the only reason why Jax let him sleep in. The lynx curled around his partner's head, his own eyes shut, but he did not sleep. Before him, Chance shifted and let out a small groan. To the sound, Jax's ears twitched. Chance?
Are the others up? Chance wanted to know.
Chance, you should sleep more. You're exhausted.
But they're up. Letting out a groan, Chance pushed himself up and into kneeling position. With heavy eyelids, he glanced around him. For a few dazed moments, he stared into space. Jax moved and slinked away, shaking his head. Chance mentally caught onto him saying something about Chance being more and more like a cat. A sigh let Chance, he stared down at himself. He wore a night shirt and boxers--somewhere in the midst of the night he gave up wearing pants.
A small smile hit his lips, he felt like a child again. Clumsily, Chance pushed himself up onto his feet. He stumbled a few feet before catching himself. Finding his bag, he sorted through them for a new outfit for the day. After making sure no one was going to wakk in, he changed into cleaner clothes then cleaned up his sleeping assortment. As soon as he was done, he sleepily walked towards the source of voices.
With a yawn splitting his lips, Chance knotted his fingers and stretched them up and over his head. Another groan left as he fell totally into the stretch as he entered the kitched, his whole body leaned back into the stretch, his legs stretching as his weight shifted onto his toes and he stayed this way for a few moments as his whole body shook. It all fell, he stumbled and slumped against the wall, smiling sleepily up at them all.
Told you that you should sleep more. Jax mused.
"Huh?" Chance glanced around till his eyes locked on Jax.
That button up shirt? You left it open. You just flashed everyone in the room.
A blush colored Chance's cheeks. "Ah. Sorry..." He fumbled for the buttons, but his tired fingers were sloppy and couldn't get the buttons to close. Jax's cat-like snickers lift ed the room. "Shut up, Jax. I'm tired, not drunk."

Mimi glanced up, completely unfazed by Chance's lack of appropriate attire. At one time maybe it would have bothered her, but now she was quite comfortable with him around. Heck, Mimi was pretty sure that at one point she walked around nearly naked when they were traveling. Then again, her clothes were covered in muck so it wasn't exactly like she could have helped that it.
She smiled, walking over to him and hugging him. "Morning Big Brother. Did you actually sleep for once?" She giggled a bit, feeling his fatigue as he fumbled with his buttons. She urged some of her alertness onto him, hoping he'd accept it.
Annabelle felt her cheeks heat up at the sight of Chance's bare chest. It was embarrassing enough to have had to sleep in the same room as him. And his lack of pants didn't exactly help her resolve either. That had been her excuse for being up so early. Despite her hate of early mornings she really just needed to get out before she lost it. Still, even as she stood there she could feel fatigue washing over her again.
Damos sat down, scratching his ears with his back paw. He glanced up at Annabelle, feeling her fatigue wafting off of her. He quietly chuckled to himself. He'd have thought that two months of being together would have thought Annabelle that hanging around either Mimi or Damos meant having all your guards up. Unless you wanted them to start asking questions, that is. He couldn't help Annabelle, but he knew Mimi could. Yeah, fat chance that'd happen. They still don't even like each other. He glanced over at his partner, opening himself up. Mimi I think-
Damos, I know what you think and it's not going to happen. She pulled away from Chance and all but jogged over to Damos. She lifted his head up so that she could stare him in the eyes. Try all you want, because it's not going to work. I don't like her Damos.
So? Mimi I thought you were better than this. You don't think I liked Chance when we first met? Come on, be reasonable. Damos sighed feeling his partner's resolve stiffening.
No Damos. I won't do it.

Chance smiled as Mimi hugged him, he gave up on the buttons and hugged her back, smirking a bit at her giggle. Accepting the alertness, he let out a sigh and smiled more softly, "That's more like it..." He mumbled, then mentioned something about coffee, but he wasn't even sure what he said. He began to work on the buttons again with more success this time. "Shh... Mimi, we're not suppose to talk about that."
A smirk lifted Chance's lips, it bothered him to know that his night terrors were known by the others, only because they knew he was suffering. Even if they didn't know, it would be hard to hide his lack of sleep and even what the terrors did to him. They were getting better. It was much better now than it was the first couple nights. At least he stopped gagging, sometimes puking.
That was only the first three nights. Jax watched Annabelle carefully, smirking as she blushed. Annabelle appreciated the view. "Jax!" Chance growled, but his whole face turned a deep crimson. His eyes followed Mimi as she walked towards Damos, curiosity littering his eyes.
Jax crossed the room then leaped up into Chance's arms. The man grunted but he held Jax and made sure not to drop. "Good morning. Did I say that?" A yawn parted Chance's lips, his fingers running through Jax's hair. "Maybe I should take a morning jog." Jax, I need to finish buttoning up my shirt.
Trust me, the lynx snickered, Annabelle doesn't want you to.
Chance rolled his eyes, dropping the lynx to the floor. "Mimi? Is everything okay?" After finishing with the buttons, he tucked in his shirt. "Do we have breakfast?" Another yawn left his lips, then he stretched again. "We should drop by Kaito's Bar sometime, it'd be nice to see old friends."

Mimi suppressed a sigh. She didn't know what it was about Annabelle and Chance that bothered her so much. It wasn't reasonable to just dislike her, even if she had rather blunt and forceful demeanor. She knew the older woman had her reasons, but still it didn't change her own attitude. If she was truly honest with herself her own attitude was a complete mess lately.
Last night was a perfect example of it. She wasn't the least bit helpful in helping Annabelle settle in. In fact, if anything, she went out of her way to be quite a pain. It was childish and wrong and Mimi knew it, yet she couldn't help it. Every time she so much as even glanced at Annabelle she felt hatred burn in her belly. It made her sick to even think of the negative emotions coursing through her, melting her composure like fire on ice.
Damos felt his partner's guilt flow from her touch. Mimi maybe you can talk to Chance, hm? I'm sure he will understand. He leaned forward to lick Mimi's cheek. He missed the closeness that they had shared all their lives together. It felt utterly lonely to be shut out, and it hurt to see his partner in pain with no way to know if he could help.
However, Mimi jerked away as if he had snapped at her. Her jaw worked to form words, but none came. Instead she snapped her mouth shut and growled at him. No! That won't help!
Damos growled back, snatching his head away. Then tell me Mimi! What will, huh? Just what is it that is making you act this way!? I begging you Mimi, please, just talk to me! Something isn't right and I want to know what it is! So just tell me!
"I don't know okay!" Mimi dug her fingers into the wood. She was so confused and no matter how hard she tried she felt alone. And that was what scared her the most. Tear burned in her eyes as she glared down at Damos. She glanced over her shoulder at Chance. "Whatever your girlfriend brought back is what's for breakfast." With stiff motions she strode over to one of the open windows, pausing beside Annabelle. "He's all yours." Without another word she climbed out the window and jumped, catching the branches from the adjacent tree.
Annabelle stood there, shocked at the display. In the short time she had spent with them she had never seen Mimi and Damos argue, though she had noticed the younger girl's slow descent into isolation. Despite her uncanny gift at reading faces, Mimi's emotions never even registered. The girl had managed to wear a tight mask whenever she was around. She ran her fingers through her hair, feeling her cheeks heat up a bit at Mimi's accusation of her being Chance's girlfriend. The very thought of that. And yet, her body betrayed her and she felt her heart flutter.
She cleared her throat. "Well, er...that's an interesting way to say hello." Annabelle glanced out the window watching the wild child jump from tree to tree as she disappeared. Normally she wouldn't have cared what happened, but she was part of a group now. She had to learn how to play nice. Annabelle sighed. "Maybe let her walk it off? She doesn't seem like she wanted to talk."
(sorry it's so long, I was trying to figure out a way to get Mimi out of the treehouse so maybe she can meet Jay-Z? I dunno how you wanted to bring him.)

Chance's mouth dropped open slightly at Mimi's out burst. Worry and sorrow shaded his expression but before he could say much, she was gone. Swallowing, he went to the window and called, "Mimi!" Then, knowing there was no point, he swore under his breath and shook his head. "Gods damn..." He ran his fingers through his hair, pacing back and forth. In his head, he tried to solve the mystery, the questions that surfaced through his mind.
...my girlfriend? His cheeks burned, but he tried to push the thoughts away. His eyes lifted up to Annabelle, "Yeah. Well, yeah. Maybe." A sigh left him, he shook his head and rubbed his temples. Why? She... Troubled, he ran his fingers through his hair. "Maybe it's being a teenager." He shook his head and laughed a bit miserably. "What a terrible turnout for the morning. Oh well, the day can only get better, right?"
He glanced up at Annabelle, raising an eyebrow, "How about we have a bit of breakfast now? Unless, you already had some." Jax leaped up to the window and glanced over at Chance before glancing down, then he too leaped free from the small house. I will be back.
It wasn't too rare that he and Jeremiah fought. They actually quarreled quite often, but could only do so quietly in case that they get discovered. Living only as a shadow felt like a safety thing, like training wheels on a bike. How long was Zachariah going to ride this bike until he could take the training wheels off.
With a sigh, he rubbed the back of his head. If he hadn't of been so angry, he wouldn't be here. And where was "here" exactly? He didn't know. It took him a while to realize that he was lost. He thought that he turned around and went back the way he was going, but now he was sure he was going in circles. "Ugh..." He knelt beside a river and dipped his fingers into the cold water. "Damn..."

Annabelle watched Chance pace, feeling herself grow impatient. He reached out a hand to stop him. "Relax Chance, you're pacing won't bring her back. And besides it's making me antsy. I know you're worried but trust me when I say she needs her space." She noted his comment about being a teenager and smiled a bit, though it was more of a knowing smile than anything. "It's more than likely that's the case. She's a smart kid, she's got to figure out whatever is bothering her alone." She glanced pointedly at Damos who glanced away the moment their eyes met.
"In any case," Annabelle moved over to the counter. She gently grasped the few eggs from the bird's nest and motioned for him to follow. "I don't know about you, but raw eggs are definitely not appetizing no matter when you eat them."
Mimi felt hot tears spill down her cheeks as she sat perched on the branch of a tree. She bit her lip in an effort to keep her sobbing quiet. She didn't want any one to come looking for the source, whether they be friend or foe. She opened her eyes, staring at her already dirty hands. "What's wrong with me?" Nothing but the wind answered her. She wiped her eyes before continuing on.
It seemed liked time had slowed to a crawl as she continued forward, not knowing where she was going and not particularly caring at the moment. She just wanted to get as far away as she possibly could. Maybe if she was alone she could sort everything out and figure out just what was eating at her.
A sudden snap beneath her caught her attention and she felt herself become weightless. In an effort to right herself she quickly rolled herself over, and straightened up in the air. She landed with less grace than she had planned feeling a sharp pain in her ankle before shoulder rolling out of her landing. She felt rocks dig into her shoulder as she went. Angry she cried out and swatted at the stream before her, not caring who heard her.

She yearned a small bit of laughter from him, his eyes softening. "Yeah, I guess. Eating raw eggs aren't the healthiest, is it?" He moved to her side, smiling softly. "I'm not sure if I told you, I think I have, that I use to work at a bar. My boss's name was Kevin, when I ran away from home he took me in and took care of me. He's a great cook. I use to get up early every morning just for his breakfast." Then he winced, "But he also was terrible at times. Not at cooking, as a person."
Just remembering the embarrassing stories caused his face to heat. "Anyways, is there anything else that needs to be done? Need help?" His hair, still not brushed, was a crazy mess, reflecting mostly soft browns and purples. Another sigh left him, his brows pushing together, "I am worried about her..."
The noise caused Zachariah to jump, startled. He turned towards the crash and slowly made his way towards the noise. Granted, he wasn't sure what he was going to see. And strangers weren't exactly his favorite thing in the world, he'd rather stay in the shadows. He figured if anything he could make a run for in and hide away as a tiger cub--as much as it hurt his pride.
Already, his face wore the usual "stranger danger" look--a look of annoyance that told people to back off. But when his eyes fell on her, swatting the stream out of anger, he froze. The hard look of his face slowly started to melt away into shock, then worry. Slowly and carefully, he stepped forward and knelt beside her.
"M-Mimi? Mimi, are you okay?" Stutters, as per usual, filtered into his speech. He reached out a hand, with uncertainty, and placed in on her shoulder. He took note that his fingers shook, he was still trying to get over the "Mimi is here" thing, and he tried to calm his breathing and fix his voice. "What happened?"

She shook her head, making a face. "Maybe your weak stomach it isn't." She turned back to him, poking him in the stomach in a teasing manner. Despite her initial restraint she couldn't help herself now. She felt comfortable around the pair of them, even if Mimi had been rather distant lately Annabelle couldn't help but see a bit of herself in the younger girl. If anything she was acting a lot like how she used to be, unruly and rebellious. Still, it was comforting even if a bit rocky. Catching herself staring as she thought she quickly turned back to what she was doing. "Personally I just don't like the feel of them. Slimy."
"What's the matter Mr. Forgetmenot? You actually can't recall telling me one of you fascinating childhood stories?" A wolfish grin parted her lips and she swatted him with her tail. She walked over to the release and unlatched it, feeling the platform begin to lower. "Well if you could find some flint stones that'd be great. Or maybe do a card trick and have fire magically appear." She frowned a bit as she stared up at him. "Hey," She steadied herself as the platform hit the ground. "don't make me sound like a broken record. Mimi is a good strong kid, she'll be back before you know it."
She felt his touch before she heard his voice. But her brain didn't even bother to register it. Instead she felt herself shy away from his touch. Electric fear made her jerk blindly away from who ever had crept up on her. She felt her entire side become soaked with water. Mimi groaned, now having another thing to worry about.
She rounded on the person intent on screaming at them, but stop short. Her face heated up and she felt more tears, however these were ones of joy. She reached out to touch his chest. "Is that really you Jayjay?" Her face crumpled in a mix joy and sorrow. She lunged at the poor boy and locked her arms around him. "It is you!" She nuzzled her cheek against him in a show of affection.

Chance watched her with curiosity, wondering what exactly crossed her mind. To her state, he felt a smirk crawl up her lips. "Well, you know," he crossed his arms as he watched her. "I have selective memory. I don't remember every single tiny thing I tell you. I don't like hearing myself talk that much." His eyes glinted mischievously.
"I can look through my pack, I might have a lighter. If that makes things any easier." He watched her face expressions carefully, then he replied with his own face falling. "This..." Hasn't happened before. Shaking his head, he stepped away to go look for his lighter.
"Hey," Zachariah meant to calm her, then he felt his stomach plummet at the name. No, but I miss him. A gasp left his lips as her arms locked around him, he stiffened a bit, his cheeks warming at the show. "M-M-Mi-" His voice heightened--to a nearly embarrassing squeak--"Mimi! Yes, it's me," his eyebrows came together. "Are you okay? You were.. are you okay?"
With a shaky hand, he tried to soothe her with rubbing his hand on her back. "You fell, did you? And you're all wet," Ew. Baths. Ew... The joke--not really a joke, being part cat both Jeremiah and Zachariah hated hot baths; on a hot day, a dip in the water wasn't too bad--between his brother and himself made longing ache in him, but it was easily ignored in Mimi's presence. "How are you?"
