"How does that not mean manly?" A grin lifted Percy's lips. He laughed when Kendall suggested that he wouldn't bring anything. He wouldn't point it out, but he was more than happy that there was a tomorrow. In fact, his heart gave an excited little twirl. "Are you saying my rugged good looks isn't enough for you?" Percy winked at Kendall and found himself laughing again. After a few moments, he paused to think for a moment. "I'll buy something for you, a little present. You'll have to hide it, though. I'm not sure if pemanu could recognize our work."

Suddenly, the young pemanu became, once more, humble and sheepish. "Please, you don't have to do that for me. I really was kidding. You treated me today so let me treat you tomorrow with some lunch." He frowned up at Percy, then offered a small smile. "It really is okay, I promise. You don't have to go out of your way for me, you've done enough of that already. Like today. I really enjoyed your company, as I did yesterday."

[SKIP :: ONE YEAR]
When Percy sat down to think about it, the secret he harbored was deadly. For an entire year, he had kept this secret. It was his own secret, like a special plant that he kept hidden. This plant bore the most delicious fruit, and Percy kept this plant hidden so he could benefit from it himself. The more he knew Kendall and became more use to him, the less patient he got with his own race. While every day he still trained to become a great warrior, he still squeezed in time to see Kendall, always more than eager.
The extra training sessions to transform had cut his time with Kendall shorter, which always bothered Percy. Except, today was different. By pure determination to stop going to these classes, he did it. He transformed. The look on Rafferty's face was near priceless, especially when he couldn't transform! He still couldn't. Of course, the teacher had Percy transform over and over so that he could practice, but as soon as the session was over, he was out of there.
"Dad!" Percy exclaimed, leaping over the fence that helped to make sure people didn't accidentally fall from the tree-house village. He snagged a hold on a branch and then climbed his way down to the ground to where his father was just coming back from his patrol with three others.
"Percy!" Sumner lifted his arms with a bright grin. The three others mumbled their parting words to Sumner before moving to return to the village. "You got to be careful-"
A laugh left Percy and he leaped at his father. Even if he was more than old enough not to do this, he wrapped his arms and legs around his father. The impact made his father stumble back, and barely keep standing. He laughed and squeezed his son tightly, "Why are you so excited!?" Sumner inquired, and then paused. He looked Percy in the eye, and a slow grin spread Percy's lips. "You didn't!"
"I did!" Percy nearly screamed. He let go of his father and concentrated for a few moments. It still was difficult, but it slowly was becoming easier and easier. He slipped into his Second Skin, a wolfish grin on his lips.
"Gods," Sumner murmured, looking down at his son. Pride burned heavily in his eyes. "And you're so young, too. Oh, Percy..." He crouched down and pulled Percy closer. "I'm so proud of you. How about we go and celebrate?"
Hesitation filled Percy. He forced himself back into his human form and glanced up at his father. "That sounds great... but, can we do it after I get back? I want to go run around for a bit. Being in the village so long is driving me crazy. Plus, I want to run around in my Second Skin!" A grin lifted Percy's lips.
"We can run together, if you want," Sumner smiled brightly.
Percy felt sweat collect on his back. Swallowing, he shook his head. "No, Dad, it's okay, really. You're tired. Go rest so we can stay up late tonight, alright? I love you," Percy hastened a kiss on his father's cheek and quickly escaped into the forest. He hated seeing the curious look on his father's face...
After making sure his father wasn't following him, Percy sprung into a dead run. Excitement filled his chest like a balloon that kept expanding. He felt like he was flying. Just wait until Kendall sees! A grin spread his lips as he ran across the terrain on a track that was so familiar to him by now. It seemed to take to long before he reached the path that he was so use to taking. He didn't want to take to long to walk down it, but knew it was better to be safe.
As soon as he hit the sand, he looked around for Kendall. If Kendall was there, he let out a cry of excitement and threw himself across the sand, unable to contain himself as he wrapped his arms around Kendall and then spun the two of them around. "Dollie, Dollie! You're never going to believe!" He squeezed Kendall tightly, letting another excited squeal.
Now, if Kendall wasn't there, disappointment hit Percy. Did he leave because he thought Percy wasn't coming today? Biting his lower lip, he walked over to the center of the beach and eased himself down onto the sand. His heart still echoed heavily in his chest.

Actually, Kendall had gotten there earlier and had been taking a walk when Percy appeared as if out of nowhere and had grabbed him. In the entire that had passed since they had first met, Kendall hadn't changed one bit, the only different being that he had warmed up considerably to Percy and that his flying in his second form was starting to improve.
Kendall unintentionally jolted out of fear when Percy had grabbed him, but his heart had calmed once he saw that it was Percy. A bright smile lifted the pemanu's lips; it seemed Percy's excitement was contagious. It always was. "What?" He mused, smiling brightly. "Were you finally successfully able to beat up Rafferty and his posy? Or did something else happen?" Kendall's smile brightened even more so as he let out a soft chuckle. "And I still don't understand where Dollie came from..."

Breathing hard, Percy grinned brightly at Kendall. Before he could address his excitement, he had to address Kendall's ever persistent question. "Because you're such a doll," Percy mused, poking Kendall's nose. And then he let go of Kendall so he could leap up and down in excitement. "I can transform! I learned how to transform today!" He shouted. Reaching forward, he had to spin the two of them around again. "I was first! Before Rafferty! You should have seen his face!"

"If you keep spinning me, I'll end up throwing up on you, no matter what form you're in," Kendall muttered, trying to find his bearings. When he was able to, he smiled brightly for his friend. "I wish I could have! I still have to scare him some day... Anyway, congratulations, Percy!" As always, Kendall became sheepish when he asked a question, one that might have been a bit odd. "Can... can I see? I mean... would you mind showing me? You already got to see what my second form looked like, not that that's very exciting. But I've never seen a navajo transformed before."

Percy laughed at Kendall's complaint about spinning him. He stepped away, grinning. "Of course! I was going to show you, whether or not you wanted to see." He laughed and then closed his eyes, focused on transforming. After a few moments, his body finally gave away to a red wolf. He shook out his fur, proudly sitting to look up at Kendall. A wolfish smile lifted his lips. He stood and strutted around, which was awkward because he wasn't use to having four legs, and then he sat down in front of Kendall again, his tail wagging.

Immediately, Kendall dropped to his knees and ran his hands through Percy's fur, if he was able to at least. His eyes burned brightly with a sort of curiosity a small child would possess, one who had stumbled upon something new. In a sense, this was new. Kendall had never seen anything like it. "Wow...," he breathed, completely mesmerized. "You're so beautiful..." In his opinion, the wolf with feathers was much more beautiful than some large bird creature. Maybe, as he ran his fingers through Percy's fur, perhaps a feather had fallen, but this was up to Cloudy. Whether it had or not, it had gone unnoticed. Suddenly remembering who this was, Kendall blushed and stood. "I mean this form," he tried fixing his words. "I really like it..." Shyly rubbing the back of his neck, Kendall glanced away. "So, today was your first time transforming? Do you still have to practice all the time?"

Good thing he had fur, or else Kendall would have seen a blush. Beautiful? He watched Kendall closely and then slowly stood, his form falling away to his human one. Having a feather fall out is perfect. "You're so c-" Gods, now he was going to really blush, "w-weird." Clearing his throat, he reached back and ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah, it's hard, I don't know all the technical reasons, but yeah. Oh, and yeah. I will have to practice a bit more, but hopefully I'll able to stop so we can hang out more." A bright smile lifted Percy's lips. "And now you can have a beautiful cuddle buddy, little Dollie." He wrapped his arms around himself and began to laugh. He opened his eyes and spotted one of his feathers. "Oh," Percy said, laughter still in his voice. He picked up the feather and grinned. "Looky at what I shed. It's probably because you were pulling out my feathers."

"Not really a cuddle buddy, but maybe it'll be easier to carry you if you ever need to be flown again," he muttered with a weak laugh. But his eyes caught sight of the feather and he lifted a hesitant hand, looking up at Percy. "Hey, this may be a weird question right, but can I keep that, please?" Little did he know what he was actually asking. "It's nice seeing a feather that's not black or a bright color." He tilted his head, smiling shyly at how ridiculous he sounded. "It just makes me think of the color of the mountains..." Dina is just guessing the color based on Percy's profile.
