Night fell but often ketsuki found themselves sleeping during such a time. It was easier to keep up with those who would prefer traveling in the day and rest at night. Anderson certainly never minded, sleep was sleep. He'd never pass up the chance for extra rest, especially when some days felt more exhausting than others. With a small smile, Anderson sat on the edge of his son's bed as he held a sleeping Mithai in his arms. "Are you sure you have everything handled?" The older ketsuki chimed as he rocked the sleeping toddler in his arms. He couldn't help but remember the days when he held his small sons as they dozed off. Back when they weren't so moody.
"Yes, I do," Kenneth muttered. Even still, his father could hear the agitated snap hidden just below the surface. Some days, it felt like remembering the small Kenneth was the only way to survive the present Kenneth. "You don't need to hang around in here all night."
"Ah, but I was the one who was able to help Mithai fall asleep. I could stick around, share my secrets. Maybe help you get some sleep." Blood red eyes were on him instantly. Anderson couldn't help the smile that curled his lips. There was no point in asking what was bothering his son. That would likely only lead to more arguments, more trouble than Anderson was willing to put himself in. "Alright, Kenneth. I'll leave you be." He stood then, turning to gingerly set Mithai onto the bed, close to his father. Silence pressed into the room as Kenneth retrieved his son and pulled the toddler under the covers with him. "Do you know where your brother is?"
"I don't, I haven't seen him," the son said as he buried his face in the pillow he could no longer resist. "Good night."
"Night, Son." Anderson made his way across the room and closed the door behind him as he stepped out into the hall. Usually, if anyone knew where someone was, Kenneth did. Certainly with his army of bats, many of which he took from the other ketsuki of the group. He began to walk slowly down the hall, wondering where Kaleb was. Where else could he be, if not with Kenneth?

There was a little bit of congestion down the hallway. Seth leaned against the wall with Scott sitting a few paces away, and Amara on the floor with a giggling Milo. "He should be getting ready for bed, Mar," Seth said dryly.
Withholding an eye roll, Amara lifted Milo into the air whilst on her back. The kid screeched playfully and let out an excited, "Bahh!" "Let him have his fun, grumpy-butt." Amara mused, her lips curling. "You just don't like it that he actually has sense and likes me."
"So," Seth ignored her and glanced over at Scott. "He's okay?"
A soft smile whispered on his scarred lips, and Scott nodded. "Of course, Seth. Healthy as a dime. You're doing a great job. And I wouldn't worry about the animal noises. He could be an anigma. Or something." He slowly pushed himself up onto his feet. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a familiar figure and looked up to say something to Kenneth. But it wasn't Kenneth. Cheeks flooding with warmth, Scott gave a jerky nod to Anderson. "Hello," he said, formally.
Scott probably didn't know what to do with Anderson, really.
Seth glanced up and gasped, "There you are! Your child is going to steal a car. Not that one," Seth motioned vaguely toward Kenneth's room. "The other better one. The one that actually laughs at my jokes."
"Seth!" Amara said in surprise. "Be nice!"
"I am nice, Kaleb's going to steal a car." Seth shrugged. "I got dibs on shotgun."
Scott's lips twitched with a smirk.

Very much unlike Kenneth, Anderson managed a smirk. See, it was always nice to joke around with others. Even if Kaleb attempt auto theft sounded serious. And comical. but Anderson didn't believe himself above others, and he was quite fond of Seth. "Oh, well. I hope you're not serious. I don't think he's tall enough to reach the break or gas. I also don't think he knows how to hot wire a car." He folded his arms across his chest. "But I hope you're not serious, Seth. Have you seen him? Where did he go?" The ketsuki wished he had his bats but there was no point in fighting over bats with his already testy son. It would certainly be nice to know where Kaleb wandered off to. "Can't really ask Kenneth without the threat of getting mauled, you know?"

Seth grinned and shrugged, "I don't know. Kaleb just had this really excited look on his face, and he gave Milo a kiss and danced around with Scott. I had asked him where he was going, and Kaleb told me that he was... how did he put it?"
"'Retrieving the bestest thing ever'?" Amara asked.
Wiping a hand through the air, Seth ignored her and shrugged. "I can't remember." Amara chucked the nearest thing she had at him--her phone. It slammed into Seth's gut and he grunted in pain. "A-Anyways," he struggled, casting her an irritated glance. "He shuffled down the hallway-"
"Shuffled?" Scott asked, with laughter. "I don't recall him dancing down the hallway."
"Oh my, Gods," Seth groaned. "Let me tell the poor man so he can retrieve his son without getting mauled by the bear."
"He's more like a... lion, with all the kids. And... ladies." Amara offered. She winced at her rudeness and tried to amend it with: "Kaleb went down the hallway, Mr. McCarther. He told me he was passing by a store--the little one by that auto trader--if we wanted anything. So, if you're fast enough you could probably catch him."
"He just left," Scott nodded.
"You all suck," Seth muttered, rubbing his stomach as if nursing a wound. "And Kaleb's getting me a car. I need one. For... reasons."

"You sound rather confident about this, Scott," the older ketsuki mused. "I think I'm the one who deserves a car the most, don't you think?" Anderson pushed himself off the wall he was leaning against before slowly making his way away from the group. "I'll go see if I can help him pick out the best car for me. Thank you all for your help. And make sure you get Milo to bed early tonight, Seth." Anderson turned away from them with a smile before he departed down the hall on his way after Kaleb. What was Kaleb off to retrieve? And why didn't he trust anyone enough to tell them where he was off to? But Anderson could breath easier knowing for sure that it didn't appear that his son was planning to run off. But still mysterious.
By the time he had run through different theories as to where his son was off to, Anderson already found himself outside of the hotel. From where he stood, he could see the little auto store down the block, lit up by a bright sign perched several feet off the ground. He followed the trail Seth had given him but he still wished he had some bats. Certainly this would all be so much easier. And he could push away the theories of Kaleb off to retrieve drugs from someone.
Unlikely.
But that wouldn't stop a parent from worrying anyway.

Close by the auto was a small, twenty-four second little convenience store. Kaleb stepped out of it, gently placing a few snacks into his backpack, along with some candy. He shrugged his backpack on and pulled out his phone, checking something with a bright grin, before pocketing his phone.
(option a)
Eyes were on him. He felt it like a hand brushing his face. He glanced up and he spotted a figure not too far away. It didn't take him long to figure out the gait. A blush warmed Kaleb's cheeks and he immediately started towards his father, feeling somewhat sheepish and a little worried. A little fear inside of him whispered that Anderson would scorn him, but he wasn't sure for what. "Ma..." Kaleb started and quickly amended, "Daddy? Is everything okay?" He tried to figure out his expression.
(option b)
Cold air brushed Kaleb's skin and he started a brisk pace down the street. Excitement tingled his skin and a large grin filled his lips. Gabriel! He was near. It never failed to excite Kaleb, seeing his friend again. He headed towards the hotel that Gabriel was staying.

(I choose the first option!)
"I don't know if everything's okay, that's why I came out here," Anderson said as he stepped over to Kaleb. His brows fell in worry more than anger. "So Kaleb, what's going on? Why is Seth telling me that you're off to steal a car and I'm following you down the street in the middle of the night?" He noticed his son's backpack but fought back against the obvious question he wanted to ask: are you leaving? Because.. because Kaleb was free to do whatever he pleased, wasn't he?

Kaleb paused and his skin burst with heat. Maybe, just maybe he say his father's eyes fall to the backpack. "I didn't steal anything," Kaleb said quickly. "Not that it wouldn't have been stupid easy--I didn't... I didn't." He slipped off his backpack to show his father. "I'm not stealing anything tonight." ((Tonight? Really, Kally?)) "It was just... Seth..." Kaleb's voice crew smaller and he dipped his head. "I'm sorry, I should have told you... I just... my friend is near, and I was... I was going to go visit him. I am sorry..."

Anderson took a step closer to his son before he knelt down. If it was alright with gorgeous, maybe the older ketsuki reached out to cup his son's face with both of his hands. His maroon eyes swirled with worry and concern though closed when he let out a sigh. "No, I'm sorry, Kaleb. You are old enough to go where you want. I just.. don't have my bats anymore. I can't keep an eye on you or your brother." Anderson pulled away from Kaleb and stood. He tried to wash away his worry with a soft smile and an outstretched hand he offered to his precious son. "Come on, let's go visit this friend of yours, okay?"

A slightly worried smile pulled Kaleb's lips and he wrapped a hand tightly around his father's. "No, I should always let people know where I'm going. It's safer that way. I guess I'm just not... used to it." He frowned lightly and began to lead his father towards his friend. Not wanting Anderson to linger on that, Kaleb said, "Last time I stole a car I didn't have anywhere to put it. Plus, gas smells and my knees hurt after driving for a bit." To hide a smirk, he turned his head away from his father and pointed towards a sign. "See that? The fair? Have you ever been to one?" He paused to give his father a glance. "Um... thank you, for coming with me. You don't have to, if you don't want. If you're sleepy or anything."
