Ankou
on-co
Also Known As: Succubus
Region of Origin: Eloria
Information:
Even if they're commonly known as 'succubus', most do not use sexual actions to get their needs, in fact, they don't feed on life force but energy. A common conception about Ankou is that they kill those that they take energy from, but usually the person is mostly just exhausted the next day or the following week.
More powerful succubus, or those who are greedier can suck all the energy out of someone and kill them off. Though this is a painful and slow process and is usually interrupted before it completes, and if it's gone far enough, the person may or may not end up in coma.
Other than energy feeding, there is another acquired fact about an Ankou. They have 'shifting' souls, or, partners. This basically is an animal that stays beside them. In myths, it is believed that this animal holds the Ankou's soul. The two are in fact linked, and while they do not speak telepathically, they can feel what the other is feeling and if they are in danger.
The animal isn't just one animal, the size of it depends on how powerful the Ankou, though usually the animal never gets larger than a large wild cat. The animals can shift, mostly dependent on the Ankou's soul. For an example, the animal could parade around as a common dog, but when the time needs it, it could shift into a small bird and fly away.
By killing an Ankou's animal, it does not kill them, but it does make them completely human without any powers at all and they do stop feeding on energy. Feeding on energy is not something as a simple touch, or something as violent as a bite. No, in fact, the way Ankou attains energy from another is kissing them. More often than not, that person has no idea that they've been robbed of energy, unless the energy gain is getting greater and greater then it starts being painful.
The energy that Ankou's attain are for their powers and for their animal. If they stop attaining energy, their animal will start feeding off of them and no matter how much food they contain, it will go to their animal. Basically, it's like starving both the Ankou and it's soul holder. Ankou do eat regular food, they need to.
Appearance:
Ankou look like regular humans, or sometimes regular elves. They were meant to meld right into another common race, except they never hold that race's powers. They can have any color eyes, hair or skin.
Their animal looks very much like an animal. Never has there been a dragon or creature like a Malaki Partner, they are like average animals. The only thing that differs from normal animals is their bright eye colors and, of course, that they speak.
Average Height: Depends
Average Weight: Depends
Lifespan: 2000YRS
It really depends on how much energy they take in.
Magic:
The magic of Ankou are not typical elements. They usually range, and magic among the race is very subtle. Most common magic among Ankou are those of the following;
Sound; like frequency, sometimes even music that could subdue something or control them.
Invisibility; self explanatory.
Curses; like to inhibit magic or to cause bad luck upon someone (for a small length of time.)
Illusions; self explanatory.
Touch; either like super strength, or even simply the feel of something.
Force Fields; a shield made out of magic.
Teleportation; teleporting from one place to another (within limits. No teleporting through time.)
More often than not, Ankou have more than one power. At most, they've only been found to have three of the named powers above. Usually, they have one main one, and two off to the side that are a weaker.
**Any ideas for more powers, do tell, or questions are free to be asked too.**
History:
Ankou are a very, very rare race. And very new. Most still believe that they are just myths, stories mother tell to their kids so that they will behave. If one is an Ankou, they do not state what race they are, they try to fit in with the other races and be invisible. Only very few know of their race, and there are very few out there compared to all the other races that walk among the earth.
