Region of Origin: Era
Basic Biology:
This race takes a humanoid form that is solid. They look like humans except for a slight point to their ears. Their skin color can be deep chocolate to a pale white. Their hair color tends to be shades of brown, while their eye colors tend to stick to browns, blues and greens, and even purple. A common attribute to this race is their two-colored eyes. For an example: their eyes take on two colors, deep brown and a bright green. The left eye could be mostly dark brown with bright green parts, and the right eye could be mostly bright green with brown spots. Also, they all have tattoos that look similar to this and this, but all can vary. The tattoos represent wind, and the color of them fade from one eye color to the other. For an example: the dark brown would fade into a bright green.
All enil tend to have different physiques, and do not tend to get taller than 5’7”, yet all can lose their physical form and become the wind. It is hard to pinpoint where an enil is when he or she shifts into the wind. They can be smelt, and to all others they often can just seem like a draft of wind. Those that can smell or sense them often can see somewhat of an invisible form of a being. In this form, if hit, they’re extremely vulnerable and can die. In their human form, it’s nearly impossible to kill them. Once an enil becomes the wind, they are at their most vulnerable, but also their fastest. They can right the wind and run extremely fast.
Common colds and infections never bother enil. There has never been a case of one ever having the sniffles. What enil have to be most cautious about is the fact that they can lose their minds in their wind form and become lost forever. Also, the older enil get, the greater chance of them getting cancer. Enil fully mature around a hundred and eighty, and while they can appear to look their age when they’re eighteen, they’re highly susceptible to getting addicted to drugs and alcohol (some can even be quite immature). Until they’re a hundred and eighty, they don’t have to worry about brain damage and so on.
Male Biology:
Males often are more muscular than female, but are still lean and often not that strong. They are often taller than females and have bigger hands and feet than females. They tend to be more angular and harsh looking.
Female Biology:
Since females of this race do not nurse their young, their breast size is not that large. Females tend to be thinner and faster than males. Their eyes are often larger than males. They tend to be softer looking, but tend to have muscular legs because of frequent travel.
Lifespan: 876-956YRS
General Behavior:
This race tends to keep by themselves. They are quite mischievous and can cause trouble. Generally, the race doesn’t like staying in one place and will often travel. It’s rare for an enil to have a house under their name. Enil often don’t tend to tell others what their race is. Some would rather pretend to be human than go around parading what they are. When an enil’s trust is broken, it’s hard for them to ever trust that person again. And if, for an example, someone close to them died in a shipwreck, they might never go near a ship again, or start a campaign for safer ships.
Usual Habitat:
Enils are nomads. They are constantly moving. They are not found in one place, but everywhere. Usually, they can only be found in era, but it is not rare to find an enil outside of Era. Most of them feel more comfortable in Era, because of the powerful wind that is always found there.
Aliment:
Enil do not need to eat that often. They can eat once every week, but when they eat, they eat a lot. Most enil, for the sake of normalcy, eat a regular amount of meals every day. All enil need a special berry, the sombreurus berry, at least once a week. The sombreurus berry, often called the sombre berry, is an iridescent black that shines blue, green and purple. To anyone else that eats the berry, it is poisonous. If an enil fails to eat the berry, her/his body can deteriorate and they will slowly die. Some believe that it’s the berry that discourages the common cold and infections. All enil need a regular amount of water.
Basic Social Structure:
There is absolutely no social structure to this race. All enil are equal to each other, and an enil never turn on each other. Even if their is no social structure, ever enil tends to treat another as a friend, even if they are complete strangers. If one enil runs across another in trouble, they tend to always help.
Family Life/Gender Roles:
Because enil are independent, it is rare to find to a mate. Often enil won’t mate for life and will mate only when they feel like they want to take care of a child. It isn’t rare for one enil to have many step-brothers and step-sisters. In fact, it’s more rare for an enil to have full-blooded siblings.
Procreation:
While this race uses the same means for procreation, they do have somewhat of a mating dance. Often a pair will race each other in their wind forms and dance around each other. If one can not keep up with the other, then they don’t see themselves as fit to mate. If one catches the other, then the fun begins. If enil finds affection in another race and mates with them, their children are unable to fully become wind. They often are more proficient in reading the wind, and still can run quite fast, but they are unable to ride it. Often any magic that the other race might offer does not transfer because enil do not have any magic.
Childbirth and Childcare:
When enil are born, they’re born as fraternal twins and the only ailment they need is sombre berries, not even any milk from their mother. If they are fed anything else, they can die. It isn’t until the child is five can they eat something else. Often, the father will take one child and the mother will take the other, but if one of the pair decides that they don’t want to take care of a child, it is the responsibility of the other to take care of both children. The child can stay with the parent for as long as one hundred and eighty years, but it isn’t unheard of for a child to leave as young as eighteen.
Magic and Abilities:
Other than having the ability to turn themselves into wind, enil do not have any magic. In their wind forms, they can run as fast as the wind. If wind is already blowing, then the enil can ride that current and even increase their speed. The longer the enil ride the wind, the faster they become. But, if there is no wind and they start to run, they will be incredibly slow. In their human forms, they are able to hold their breaths for long periods of time, up to forty minutes, and they can run fast for a long time. They all tend to be quick on their feet and prefer to evade attacks than deliver them.
Legends and Folklore:
Enil believe that the winds are their past ancestors, racing with the Era herself. They once believed that other races were jealous of their ability to ride Era’s wind, and began to kill them. As a result, the entire race disappeared and became only a myth. The race is incredibly rare, but beginning to face the world once again. Some of the older enil are prejudice against other races.
History:
Enil have been existing since the beginning of Era. Their race has always been independent from each other and quite rare. Until just recently, the race was thought to be a myth. It was the discovery of an enil that brought the race into the light, though there still is a great percentage of the world that think enil are nothing but a myth, like Big Foot.
