Fred growled when Mimi started to squirm. "Stop before I break every bone in your body." He struggled to keep her in his arms. Stepping into the van, he tried to throw her into a crate next to the little girl's. If this happened, he slammed the crate shut and locked t. A gross snarl twisted his lips, and he limped out of the van. With Rick's help, Fred hauled Zachariah into the cage beside the boy's and locked it. Zachariah managed to stir and look up at the men. He meant to growl and look menacing, but all he managed to do was a weak whimper of pain. Rick knelt down and peeked into the cage with a grin. "Damn, how many times did we zap him?"
"A lot," Fred shrugged.
Rick chuckled. "You ain't going to be able to move in a while. Much less eat. Come on, Fred. Let's get going. Boss'll be happy."
(We can bring in Chance whenever)

Mimi grunted when she felt the hard metal slam against her side. Pain radiated from her side and from the place where she was zapped. At least I have feeling again. So maybe that means... She glanced down at her hand. Focusing on her index finger, she willed it to move. To her surprise she was able to move the finger without resistance. Slowly she managed to push herself up and she glanced around that back of the van. She pulled herself toward the bars. The air around her was so thick with fear it was nauseating. Her stomach heaved, but nothing came out. With as much anger and disgust as she could manage she glared at the two men.
His lungs screamed for air and his legs burned, but Damos didn't care. He couldn't tell how long he had been running but he knew it was a long time. But he didn't stop, he couldn't. Not until he found Chance and Annabelle would he allow himself to rest. He scented the air once more and made a wide arcing left as he rounded a tree. He pushed through the treeline and continued into the city. He didn't care if he got stares or even screams, he just wanted to find Chance.
"Are you hungry? Maybe we could stop to eat someplace." Annabelle glanced at Chance, giving him one of her rare smiles. She reached down and intertwined her fingers with him. "Oh come now Ace, don't tell me, you're still thinking about Mimi. She's a strong girl. I think she can handle herself well enough. Besides, exactly how much trouble do you think she could get into?"

Rick smirked. "Have a good trip, girlies." He swaggered out of the van, and Fred limped after him. They slammed the doors shut, making the little girl squeak. She let out a sob. Turning her head, she glanced at Mimi and her lips trembled. Tears built up in her eyes and she tried to build words in her mouth, but nothing came out, so she curled in on herself again.
Zachariah's body turned into his back, and his legs hit the cage. There was no room. His head rolled uselessly as the car started. No matter how much he tried to move his tongue, nothing working. Fatigue pulled on him. He felt guilt above all else.
Chance's smile turned oh so quickly into a frown. "Exactly how much? Ugh, Annabelle," Chance murmured, he probably only used her full name when he was angry, frustrated, or worried. "Don't ask me a question like that, I'm going to think of--too late. Murdered, kidnapped. Mugged. She could get a fever, and die. Damos could get rabbis and attack her. She could contract a disease, and-" He cut himself off now, his brain accumulating every ounce of knowledge that he didn't care to throw away, like a cluttered room. Or maybe the most accurate description would be a hoarder. He stopped, jerking his head up to look at Annabelle, completely serious. "She could get pregnant." He said this as if it were worse than all the previous options.

Mimi flinched away from the noise, suppressing a growl as the throbbing in her head increased. She pulled herself closer to the bars and leaned against them, feeling the cold from the bars soothing the searing pain that radiated from her arm. She blinked slowly, allowing her eyes to adjust the dark of the van. The whimper hit her ears and she scooted closer to the bars. "H-Hey there." She glanced at the form next to her own cage. From what she could see, Mimi assumed it was the girl. "Is your name, by any chance Amy Mason?" If the girl looked her way she offered her a soft smile. "We're here to help you get out of here and back to your parents."
Annabelle felt her ears twitch underneath her hood. She moved in front of him, hoping to stop him. She didn't care if strangers gave her nasty looks for being in the way, she needed to focus on Chance right now. "Oh for the love of the dragon goddesses above, listen to yourself." She let her hand fall away and instead put it on her hip. "You've known Mimi practically since she was a baby. Obviously, not that young but you get what I'm saying. She was on her own before you were there and she did well enough, didn't she? She's a good kid, Ace." Despite herself she couldn't contain her laughter. "Wait wait wait, you're telling me that above all else you're worried about her being pregnant?" She stepped closer and cupped his jaw with her hand. "Look, at some point you're going to have to accept that Mimi is a grown woman. I know it doesn't mean much coming from me, but you have to let her go. If you don't you'll spend so much time trying to make her that little girl you remember, that you'll miss her become an adult."
Damos slowed to a stop, his paws screaming from the pain. He scent the air once more and padded around. The smell was strongest where he was, but he couldn't locate them with all the people around. Worry filled him and he whipped around searching for Chance. When he finally caught sight of the pair he bounded over to them. He practically tackled Annabelle when he tried to stop.
Annabelle felt a sudden weight and wheeled around ready to spew obscenities at whoever had interrupted her, but stopped when she found no one but Damos there. "Damos? What are you doing here?" She bent down to his level and ran her fingers through his fur. She could tell from the wild look in his eyes something was wrong. "Hey, boy, what's wrong?" Her eyes darted to either side, searching for Mimi.

The girl flinched at the sound of her name and turned to look at Mimi with tears in her eyes. The only response she could give was a sob. Leaning against the cold bars, she began crying all over again. Momma, Papa, crossed her lips at some point, but sounded more like sobs. Clenching her teeth, she sniffled and let out a small breath. "B-But... how?"
Chance couldn't help the smirk that curled his lips, and then it lifted into a grin. "I know, I know," he had a whole speech prepared--he had made it up in his mind some time ago and decided to keep that in his memory banks too.
Except, his eyes caught Damos. He raised a brow. "Did Mimi decide she wasn't ready?" His heart swelled in his chest. He wanted it to be true, but even if they game back, it wasn't like Damons to throw himself happily at Annabelle. His tail wasn't wagging. He began to choke on his heart. "Damos," he remained calm on the outside, but he was slowly coming undone on the inside. "Where is Mimi?"

Sadness tugged at her heart and Mimi reached out to the girl. Gently she placed a hand on her shoulder, if she could, and squeezed it reassuringly. "Don't worry about it. Just know that we'll find a way to get you back to your mommy and daddy. They miss you very much." Mimi tried to coax a feeling of soothing warmth toward the girl, hoping she would accept it and not reject it like her mother did. With tired eyes Mimi glanced around for Zachariah. She hoped he wasn't too badly injured from their fight. Mimi hissed when a sudden bump caused her to hit her still burning arm against the cold bars. She rubbed the tender spot and shifted so that she was off of the arm. "Zach? Are you...are you alright?"
Damos bowed his head at either of Chance's questions and uttered a long sorrowful whine. I'm sorry, I...I couldn't protect her. He stared up at the pair, pain and sorrow clear in his eyes. He hated feeling isolated. He was glad Annabelle could somewhat understand his words, but it wasn't the same as having Mimi there. She was his other half and without her, it felt quite empty.
Annabelle stroked Damos' head, worry filling her. She frowned and glanced up at Chance. "Something happened. The way he said it, it sounds like they were ambushed. They must over powered them and taken Mimi." Though Annabelle couldn't help but question why. If Mimi was actually kidnapped, it wouldn't make sense for the kidnappers to kidnap Mimi. She was a grown woman, not to mention she was sure the younger girl gave them quite a run for their money. There has to be a reason for it. She straightened up and let her hooded shawl fall away. Her tail eagerly swayed back and forth.

A whimper fluttered through Amy's lips. She turned to see the lump of body that use to be Zachariah. He twitched, and his fingers sputtered, but he couldn't move. His head pounded, and his gut twisted. There was nothing in his stomach to heave out. The rocking of the van didn't help at all. The tips of his fingers felt like needles were being stuck into them, and he couldn't shake away the feeling. He couldn't move. How many times was he hit? His tongue was too dead in his mouth to even move, but his throat had let out a chuff. Some how, some where, he still wanted Mimi to not freak out. The chuff was the most he could do.
Chance felt the work give away under him. His knees shook and met the ground. His palms hit the ground, and he stared at the world beneath him, waiting for it crumble away and leave him in eternal darkness. It only took him seconds to scramble together and stand. "Damos, show the way. We're going to go get her." Already, he was locking away his feelings of despair, and gently tucking them away. Even the feeling to scream in anger and anguish--he made sure that one was buried deep.

Despite barely hearing Zachariah's chuff Mimi still felt fear gnawing at the back of her mind. It was odd to feel so isolated, so alone and yet be so close to another living being. With a sigh Mimi turned and pressed her back against the bars. She folded her arms and rested them on top of her knees. She stared ahead, trying to quell the storm of emotions that was barely being held back by her own reason. Two facts kept her relatively sane: Zach was alive, injured severely but alive nonetheless, and Damos was out there getting help for the both of them. Now, especially, she had to stay strong for the both of them and for the little girl that was counting on them to get her back to her parents. With a sigh, Mimi laid her head down on her arms. What are we going to do once we stop?
Annabelle was about to kneel beside him to offer her strength, but as soon as he was down he was back up. She gently touched his shoulder, her face unreadable save for the twinkle of determination in her eyes. "We'll find her. Don't worry. And in the meantime I'm sure she can handle herself, she's no pushover." Annabelle couldn't help but frown, though it had more to do with her irritation at her comforting skills. She felt like a broken record, repeating the same empty phrase over and over. Yet despite the repetition she meant what she said. She really did believe Mimi could handle herself, well enough. Still she couldn't help but to continue to wonder why Mimi was captured in the first place. "Do you think we should have Jax meet us wherever we find Mimi?"
Damos barked, agreeing with Chance's determination. He padded over to him and nuzzled the side of his leg, hoping to calm him. It was bad enough Damos himself was feeling dejected for what had happened, but he didn't need Chance to be acting rash. He wanted the clear-headedness of Chance and the brute strength of Annabelle with him when he found these men again.

Chance reached down and gently scratched behind Damos' ear. "I'll tell him to follow us. He's always following me, though." He glanced up at Annabelle, his own skin color paler than what it usually was. "I'm fine. Jax will come. I wish I could gather more facts.." A long breath left Chance and he closed his eyes. I've worked with less than this. I can find her. Someone kidnapping Mimi... "Damos, can you bring us to where you guys last were?"

The van came to a rumbling stop. It had to have been quite a while that passed. Zachariah had control of his limbs, but they were jerky and awkward, and he felt exhausted to even try. The back of the van was opened up, and Fred crawled inside. He opened Amy's cage first and yanked her out. She screeched in pain and fear, but was quickly subdued by him. He threw her into Rick's arms and then yanked Zachariah out. There wasn't even a fight. Zachariah couldn't even stand on his own, and Fred ended up having to throw him over his shoulder. He glared at Mimi's cage. "I'm going to let you out, and if you try anything, I'll break something of his. Maybe his neck, preferably his legs." A smirk curled his lips and he reached forward, opening the cage. "Be good, or you'll get another zap."

Annabelle nodded, watching the exchange between the two. She saw the determination in his eyes and felt her own will steel against what was to come. It was a simple task, find Mimi and bring her back safely. And, as a bonus, kill anyone that dared to stop them. Despite its simplicity Annabelle couldn't help but cater to the hesitance that festered in the back of her mind. She didn't like not knowing what she was up against, but she was confident enough to try regardless. She fell forward onto heavy paws, not caring who saw her transformation. She watched as Damos shot off back toward the forest and kicked off the ground in hot pursuit of the beast.
Mimi had fallen asleep at some point during the ride, but was immediately jarred out of her sleep by the girl's screams. She threw herself at the bars in a vain attempt to protect the girl. "Let her go!" As soon as the struggle between them started, it ended, and Mimi was left with a ringing in her ears. Her eyes were wild with a mixture of fear and anger. She watched helplessly as they pulled Zach from the van. She met Fred's gaze equally and snarled as he came closer, but did not lunge. She was far more concerned about Zach than her own safety. So she had no problem tossing venom filled remarks towards their captors. "Oh bite me, you goddessdamned shock jockey."
