Mimi giggled again, feeling his embarrassment warm her skin. She was glad that he could not feel her own emotions, unlike how she could. It made her feel closer to him without really being as close as she wanted to be. She felt her cheeks redden again as she thought of him seeing her naked. That left a faint chill where the warmth once was and she felt herself catch her breath. No, I can't think about that nightmare right now. Not with Jayjay here with me.
Her emotions were all a blur. First up then down, it was dizzying even for her. She couldn't help the effect he had on her. She was sure if he were to merely look at her she would be filled with positive emotions. But the moment he turned away and she succumbed to her own thoughts, she was doomed. Thankfully this was one of those highs. A smile tugged at her lips at his faltering attempts to calm himself. She urged a wave a calm onto his skin. "That so? I've been by myself for some time too. Big bro-" She caught herself and giggled at her immaturity. "I mean, Chance wasn't happy to see me go, but I just had too. I had to 'find myself' as Annabelle said. Whatever that means."
The request seemed so small, and yet she felt a lump of anxiety in her throat. She didn't answer, she didn't trust her voice enough. Instead she nodded her head into his back. She released her hold on him to allow him to turn around and the lump grew larger. What if he didn't like what he saw? What if she changed too much? What if-? She paused feeling her anxiety draining from her body. Her orange eyes darted over to Damos. She silently thanked him for his courage and he flashed her another wolfish smile.
She felt her breath catch again and her eyes snapped back to Zachariah's face. She felt fear flash in them briefly as his fingers brushed her hair. But she was quick to remind herself of whom she was dealing with. She was struck with just how handsome he had become. He truly was not the boy she remembered. He was a man. She smiled and reached up to touch his face, trying to turn him back to her. She left another emotion there on his skin, this time one of courage. "Is it too much to say that you're handsome." Her smile grew as she mimicked his words. Somehow his stutter made it all the more endearing.

A gasp filled his throat as a wave of calmness washed over him--which made him feel all the more conflicted. "I forgot you could do that..." A smile lifted his lips, despite him. He swore, "This means you can feel what I feel..." Fun... "How could I forget? Rylan does the same thing." Honestly, that name off his tongue felt so foreign. Words on his tongue felt foreign. He felt like he was learning an alien language; he knew what the words meant, but just not how to use them. His thinned pupils slowly rounded once more as he watched her.
A small smile pulled at the corner of his lips. She still called Chance that. The smile slowly fell. Mimi told him why, didn't it only make sense to tell her why? Each emotion she fed him, he sucked up eagerly. This one, confidence, made a grin stretch across his lips. "Are you making fun of me, Mimi? That's not very nice." He was surprised that he teased her. It must of been the confidence.
Zachariah parted his lips, and before the confidence faded away, he said, "I actually... I have a really long story. To expain why... I left." His teal eyes dropped. "I guess it's not long, but confusing." His lips pressed together, trying to decide how to start. "I didn't really grow up well, you know that, right? In Letha. My grandfather wasn't the best guardian." He smiled, brushing off the harsh memories. "He wasn't that nice to me... or my younger brother."
Now came the hard part. Taking a deep breath, he pushed out all in one, "And his name is Jeremiah. W-we pretended to be one person so that we could stay safe and protect each other. I'm not Jayjay, but I'm still your Jayjay, I'm the one who you talked to most of the time..." Zachariah took a deep breath and reached up to put a hand on his forehead. "Does that... make any sense?" His heart beat so heavily in his chest he could swear it was going to burst out and run.

She pressed a finger to his lips, her smile never faltering. "Ah ah, gentlemen don't curse." Despite herself, she felt an electric charge surge through her body. The feel of his lips was so new. She wanted to press her own lips against him. She blinked, smiling now at her own silliness. She wanted this to work, but she couldn't force it. She had to be patient and for now she could only be comforted by her own feelings that she had. "Says you." For now, she relished in their familiar teasing.
Mimi leaned closer, pressing her head against his chest. "I'm all ears." She closed her eyes, letting his words soak in. Every detail she drank in. So it was no surprise when she caught his mentioning of his brother. She frowned, opening her eyes and staring up at him. She leaned back to get a better look at him. He couldn't have been lying to her, he seemed too sincere for that. "...Your younger brother?" All she could do was echo his words as she tried to make sense of his story.
The weight of his story hit her like a ton of bricks. For a moment she couldn't focus on anything. Everything seemed surreal. Jeremiah? Younger brother? I didn't even know he had a brother! She felt Damos at her side within seconds and she placed a hand on him for support. If his story was really true, then who had she fallen for? Her orange eyes came to rest upon him. And just who was the man before her? Fear flashed in her eyes, but this time it overpowered her. "If...if you're not Jeremiah...then who are you?" And who is the man that I fell in love with?
Betrayal. That was the only word that came to mind. This whole time, the one whom she believed she could trust with her heart had been lying to her. He still had the face that she loved, but the man before her seemed like a whole different person. He said he was the one whom she spent the most time with, but if that was true- had she ever met the true Jeremiah? She felt tears sting her eyes and she covered her mouth with her hand. She turned her eyes away, afraid that he had seen the fear and hurt behind them.

Her reaction. It was new, but it hit him so hard in the gut that he couldn't breathe. Who are you? He almost replied with "I don't know" but he caught the words and clenched his teeth. "This was a mistake." What exactly was a mistake? When did this mistake begin? He turned from her and walked a few paces away. Breath came hard to him. The mistake started the moment he stepped out of Jeremiah's shadow. No. That couldn't be true.
Suffocation only came with that. Sneaking around, pretending to be the same person... the only good point about it was that their personalities were somewhat alike. And it was too late anyways. He paused and forced himself to think and to breathe. Asses the situation and solve the equation. Zachariah knew that if he ran that he probably would regret that too. He wanted to give up. Screaming didn't sound like a bad idea either.
"Look, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you," Zachariah talked to the trees, his voice shaking. "We hid in each other's shadows. We were afraid to tell the truth, and it was a fall back plan. But it was suffocating. I left to get away, a-and I left to find you." He clenched his hands tightly and dropped his head. He reached up and pinched his nose, between his eyes.
Now he was using words. But were they the right ones? "Maybe I should just go," he offered. How come that was always the easiest decision? To accept banishment and hide away? Zachariah finally turned to look at her, his brows pulling together in his own sorrow. "I'm sorry, Mimi." He paused, realizing she still had his jacket. For a moment, he reached out as if to reached towards her and take it, but he dropped his hand and watched the ground. "Zachariah..." His voice came out in a small whisper, as if the name was a sin in itself. "Th-that's my name."

The moment she said it, she regretted it. She could feel the sadness wash over her. The sheer volume and power of it stole her breath away. She saw him move away and her heart skipped a beat. A different kind of fear gripped her and she felt her heart squeeze. She pulled his jacket tighter around her and buried her face into the collar. A mistake? "N-no...it wasn't." A mistake would be to love him less.
There it was again. That word. She was sure of it now. That was what she needed to find. She needed to find out just what she wanted and what she wanted was love. It was strange to think about it considering her encounter with love before. No, that was not love. It was violation, far from what love was. And she knew that she didn't want that, ever again.
Her breath floated up into the night sky. "No, you could never hurt me. I'm already far too damaged to be hurt by anyone." She glanced up at him through he hair, watching him. When he gestured for his jacket, she instinctively gripped it tighter. She didn't want to let go, not just yet. All this time and to have it end like this. It would be a disaster.
Her heart beat faster and she felt as though she would explode. It was now or never. "No, don't be sorry." She shakily made her way toward him. Each step was slow and concentrated so she could not stumble. The sadness was overwhelming as she approached and she only could think of one way to end his sorrow and express her true feelings. "I'm the one who should be sorry." She latched onto his shirt for dear life and stretched up to kiss his lips. She drew back quickly and pressed her head against his chest, trying to hide her blush. "A mistake would be for me to let you walk away from me again. Please..." He voice trailed off. "Please don't leave. Not again. My heart wouldn't be able to take the pain of watching you walk away without knowing when we'd see each other again."

The kiss felt so quick he barely had time to react. His teal eyes widened in shock for a moment, and he watched helplessly as she lowered herself and pressed to his chest. Did that really happen? Her words made him think like it did. For once, he didn't have ponder or think of what to do. His arms lifted and wrapped around her, one securing her head and the other around her shoulders. "Mimi..." Zachariah muttered. He kept his hold loose enough so that she could break away. He didn't want to scare her.
Didn't she say something about this before? Something about being damaged? His heart would ache for her, but it pounded too heavily in his chest. Zachariah gently lowered his arms and he pushed his nose into the top of her head. He guessed that they were both damaged. Mimi most likely more so, but that was alright. Zachariah, being the smart little guy he was, linked her reaction to her "damage". I'm sorry traced his lips again, but he didn't let it pass. He apologized too many times, and this wasn't his apology to give.
This kiss still burned on his lips. Good thing so much else was happening, or something else would burn somewhere else. "Did you really just kiss me right now, or did I imagine it?" He knew that didn't help his "cool" factor, but he had to know. Zachariah watched the top of her head, trying to decide what the next step was. This was not a book, so he just couldn't turn the page to see the answer. His teeth nipped into his lower lip.
Finally, he parted his lips and quietly said, "I'll stay." Then, more tenderly he added, "If you want me to." He wanted to stay. But he didn't want to push her. Having to think this much, especially finding the right words, brought on a slight headache. Even so, a part of him felt happy. He was just too cautious to let it consume him. Zachariah, much like a cat, pushed his face into Mimi's hair, and then again into her shoulder. As much as he tried to fight it, a chuff escaped his lips. Let him be the first to say that chuffing as a human feels a lot weirder than chuffing as a tiger.

She felt his arms around her and she instinctively tightened her grip, but not for the reason one would think. The fear of subjection was far from her mind. The only fear that haunted her was the fear of being alone. When she was alone the other fears would crawl out of the shadows and engulf her mind. She felt tears beginning to pool under her lids. "I don't want to be alone anymore." She bit her lip as a timid hiccup rocked her body.
Mimi flattened her hands against his chest, hesitantly at first but soon she spread her fingers across his chest. She wanted him to feel what she felt. The immense love she had for this man. Ten years of confusion, and now she was sure of it. She was indeed in love with him and she almost laughed at herself for not seeing this end result. Through her fingers flowed the warming sensation of love. This was a trick she had learned some time ago. The ability to open herself up to others and allowing them to feel what she felt. Of course, it still was subject to the other's will to allow it in, but she felt as close to the individual as she did to Damos.
She sniffled a bit, nuzzling her face against his chest. "Yeah..." Now her voice was the one to crack. "Yeah, I did." She glanced up at him through her hair. "Di-Did that bother you?" Her orange eyes watched him, studying his face. Her eyes traced his lips and she felt the urge to kiss them again, but she was hesitant this time.
"I know it isn't much, but could you sleep in the tent with me." She was sure her whole face was as red as a ripe tomato, but she needed him to be there. His presence brought her peace, and he could possibly help her to get a good night's rest. She felt Damos brush by her and she glanced down to see his disapproval, but the moment she shared her plan with him , he approve even if begrudgingly. She turned her attention back to Zachariah. "I know it's a weird request, but I..." She sighed, it was no use hiding it. "I haven't been getting any sleep lately. And well I figure that if you're here, then maybe...I wouldn't have anymore nightmares."

Zachariah blushed heavily, "You don't have to be al..." And then her emotions. His head fell back and his body jumped. Lips parting, he gasped and slowly tried to sort out the feelings. "Th-This?" His voice rose in octave, making him wince. He breath came out shakily. "It didn't bother me at all..." He leaned down and gently tried to lift her chin. His kiss was quick and tender, only because kisses were so foreign to him.
"Is this what it feels like to be a psyche hathos?" He let out a small laugh but shook his head, "Oh Mimi..." Zachariah looked her in the eyes.
In all honesty, this felt good. In fact, he recognized the feeling, even if it felt foreign. A softness filled him. Even if her request was so innocent, his thoughts dirtied it. Inwardly, he scorned himself. "Nightmares?" Innocence, innocence.... "Of course I'll sleep with you." Embarrassment filled him. "I-I meant, I w-will sleep beside you, n-not with..." He let out an awkward sigh and glanced to the side. "I will be here for you... if you need me."
And then he glanced away, a little unsure, "Th-This might be weird... but can you say my name?"

The kiss he returned startled her. She felt her heart leap into her throat and a blush spread across her cheeks. She reached up and grasped his head, feeling the stubble tickle her fingers. She pulled herself closer to him, deepening the kiss. Before she got too carried away, she broke away. Her head felt light and she could swear she was seeing stars. She smiled at him, feeling a tear slide down her cheek. "Most of the time, it feels like that around people who are joyful. I like to savor the feeling that way, the bitter emotions don't seem quite so bad."
She couldn't help but laugh at his stumbling. "Just don't try anything funny and Damos won't be able to say anything." She reached down and tugged at his hands. She moved around him and tugged on his hand again, trying to lead him to the tent. "Come on, we should get settled in."
Mimi paused and glanced at him. She raised an eyebrow in curiosity. Sure it was weird but was nowhere near as strange as her own request. Besides, he agreed to her request it was only right that she returned him the favor. A faint smile spread across her lips and she walked back over to him. She purposefully let his jacket slide off of her shoulders as she approached. She reached up so that her lips brushed against his ears. "Of course, Zachariah."

Gods, that kiss. It striked his core and filled him with desire, but he quickly quenched it. At least he could control that feeling. He took a couple moments to calm himself. When she suggested he might, he winced, "N-No, Mimi, I-I-I wouldn't," Zachariah stuttered. He let out a long sigh and pinched her nose, smirking a bit. "Stop teasing me. It's not nice." A grin lifted his lips, for a moment, finally easing his face from any of frowns, shyness and any other ill emotions.
He allowed her to tug him; and his grin slowly diminished to a content smile. And then she stopped and turned. Now his smile fell and his lips parted in shock. Her breath spread tingles across his neck, down his back, and then teasing towards his groin. He swallowed nervously and stepped away from her, trying to control the itching desire that filled him. Except, there was also a conflicting emotions. He mattered. Not Jeremiah, not a fake persona. He, him. Zachariah.
He managed to extinguish the flame of desire and let his chest fill with happiness. "Thank you, dork." He laughed playfully and lifted his jacket up again and pulled the hood over her head. "Come on. You don't know what cuddling is till you cuddle with a tiger." He stretched, only because stretching also got rid of the last of any funny feelings. Then he stepped towards Mimi, his arms still up, and he let them drop and wrap around her.
Squeezing her tightly, he pushed her closer to the tent and laughed into her shoulder. He relaxed his arms and whispered into her ear, "Thank you, Mimi..." He then dropped her, and like a gentleman, he held open the tent and waved a hand for her to go it. "If you feel uncomfortable, I don't mind sleeping in a blanket above a blanket around you."
