Kida felt a little disappointed that Marco changed the subject. The purpose of the happy game was to look past all the sadness and find things to be happy about. Maybe it made Marco happy by not playing the happy game. He thought for a few moments. "We went on shores and stuff. On islands, we stay a litte longer than one night because of food. But most of the time we didn't spend more than a good night's rest on a land, and most of the time I sleep on Kyru's back in the sea. Or anything we find floating in the water." He glanced around at the broken pieces of ship. "People don't like us very well..."

"Before you said you raided ships for food?" The young man asked, referring to earlier in the thread where one of the twins said that. "Then I can imagine why. You're like small pirates yourself." Carefully, Marco lulled back and if he could, tried laying down with his back pressing against the floating wood. "Grow out of that habit. Being a pirate is the worst thing to be. There's no escape from it.." Oh Marco, poor Marco. He needs more cuddle time. That, or he could have been falling asleep, which could be why he was so open and giving hints about a past he'd never spoken about before.

Kida watched him with a keen expression; do not be confused. He's the one who looks smart, but isn't really that quick to conclusions. Except, by some miracle, maybe he began to understand why this man didn't want to play his happy game. Kida carefully laid down on his side, and laid a little bit of himself on Marco. He pushed his face into Marco's chest. "How else do we survive?" Kida spoke with sorrow. "Our parents are long gone," maybe a part of him understood they were dead, "and we have nothing else in the world." Except each other, but that was a default. How funny. The lot of them were similar in a way; a way in that they were both forced into pirating in order to survive, with no loved ones to fall back on or to go to. "You should sleep, Mary," Kida whispered and closed his eyes. A shiver shook the child's body, and he pressed himself closer to Marco to attain more warmth.

"But I have to be attentive," he weakly protested, though Marco's eyelids grew heavy and he found himself beginning to drift off. His struggle to remain awake was lost. "Let me know if something happens," Marco muttered quietly. A moment or so passed before the injured man finally found himself asleep, the serenity of sleep washing away the physical pain that had plagued him, easing his worries for the time being.

(Skip to Kyru coming back with help? Or maybe Marco slept through it all and wakes up on the ship? Maybe he's treated on the ship? Or we can simply skip to them getting to land? What do you want~?)

Kyru never meant any harm. Probably ninety-nine percent of the time he didn't mean harm. Hunger drove him, especially when the fresh smells of food were near. He and Kida hadn't left yet. For some reason, Kida formed attachment to the captain. When Kyru returned, the two were sleeping with one another. Kyru didn't dislike the man, but he worried about his brother. They couldn't stay with the captain for long. With his brother sleeping away in an empty and safe room, Kyru hunted for food.
Why be on a ship if you couldn't raid it? To his delight, this ship held an accordance of food. Lots of good food. Food that wasn't fish. He somehow managed to sneak into the area that held crates of food. The sweet smell of fresh fruit brushed against his nose and his mouth watered hungrily. The first crate proved too hard to open. The next too. By the sixth, his stomach was growing and his hope waning.
Did anyone say seven was Kyru's lucky number? This crate popped open. He whimpered happily and leaned in. There were bright packages of raspberries. He tore it open and began pouring them into his mouth. Before he knew it, he was on his fourth package. "Hey!" A voice shouted. Kyru dropped the package, raspberries falling and jumping around everywhere. Kyru didn't wait to look. He made a run for it.
Like a snake, he slipped through the crates, heading for the door. The male who called out was hot on his heals, and he screamed for Kyru to stop. When he reached the door, but another male waited there. Kyru, using his muscle, slammed so hard in the male that he cursed and fell back a bit. He turned and dived down the hall. Except, this time he slammed into a big man. "I'm sorry," Kyru cried.
The big man grasped Kyru's wrists and painfully yanked him up. "What is that all over yer face?"
"Raspberries," the first male stuttered with a breathy voice. "The shit was eating it. He ate about forty to fifty dollars worth."
Kyru let out a small whimper, but he was angry. More than angry. He considered kicking this man where it would hurt him the most, but before he could deliver the blow, he was thrown against the wall. "What do you have to say to this?"
"You need better security," Kyru gasped.
Before he knew it, they were on him. He tried getting up, and he managed to. With all his strength, he kicked one. The man screamed and fell. The largest man was on him. Kyru heard the break, felt the vibration, before he felt the pain. No scream left his throat, he fell to the ground. The men were shouting at him, kicking him. He wanted to puke. But his vision flashed out and back. If I die, take care of him... Tears slipped down his face, and all other thoughts were numbed by his pain.

For the first time in a few days, there was more space for Marco to walk. Instead of being on a few floating rafts that led to open sea, he was on a large trading ship heading to who knows where. They had kept him in the infirmity where he had woken up on the trading ship. However, since they appeared to have no intention of healing him yet, the captain decided to take a little stroll through the ship.
Though, he suddenly paused for a moment, glancing around. It was not the signs that indicated he was close to he cargo hold that stopped him. No, it was the sound of a commotion that halted his walk. Marco began walking again but this time, his pace quickened for he now had a set destination to reach.
As he neared the source, perhaps he heard one of the men cursing and heard him say something about a kid. Now Marco was left to worry about whether Kida or Kyru had gotten into trouble. They sounded as if they were in trouble.
Except, Marco realized that he couldn't fight off whoever in his current state. So, the anigma shifted into his canine form. As the large dog ran, his claws tapped against the metal flooring.
Running faster now, Marco arrived to the scene of the crime but found that the anger that pumped through him didn't allow his mind to process the sight. All he picked up was Kyru's smell. Despite his broken arm, the large dog crotch for a moment before pouncing, letting out a fierce bark as he first aimed for the largest man. He had the intent of mauling in mind.

The snarling sound of a dog drew away their attention from the boy. The first male screamed in fright when he saw the thing. He backed away immediately, only to stumble over his own feet and fall. Immediately, he scrambled to his feet, narrowly missing planting himself into a wall, before sprinting away with his life, and all extremities attached. He was a smart, yet wimpy one who would only pick on people obviously weaker than him. No way in hell did that dog look weaker than him.
The largest man could barely react. At the sheer force of a large dog attacking him, he managed to tangle his feet and fall to the ground. No screams left his throat, but all of it wrote in his eyes. His face twisted with pain. He tried to fend of the dog, reaching for anything, but mostly kept his arms up, purely instinct. The large tried to get leverage on the dog and push him off. Finally, he gained his voice, "This shit is a malaki!?"
The door male finally snapped out of his frozen shock and terror. He glanced at Kyru to make sure he wouldn't run away, but the kid stopped moving. The man concluded that they killed him. With a sharp twist in his stomach, he lifted his arms with a wooden bat and swung it against the dog. In all honesty, he didn't have to swing full force, but it would probably leave a bruise.

The large dog let out a pathetic whine when the bat hit him, only because Marco was battered and ragged enough as it was. Gods, he wondered how he still had enough energy to fight back. But that wasn't important. What was important was that a child was still endanger. Finding more strength, Marco threw himself at the man who hit him with a bat, trying to use his weight to knock him down, snapping his jaws and barring sharp canines.
Whether or not he had been able to do this, this new-found strength waned rather quickly, draining the poor pirate and making his body feel heavy. Instead of attacking more, the large dog stepped over to Kyru and sat beside the boy. A fierce growl filled him as his gaze flickered back up to any of the men that were still there, if they were still there. Poor, poor Kyru..
