The door man reached down and moved to lift the large man, but he groaned in pain and didn't want to move. "Let's get out of here, there's nothin' else to do with the kid." The large man couldn't lift himself, and the door man certainly couldn't do it. Eventually, the door man decided to just drag him. Eventually the large man came to his senses and lifted himself. The two limped away, whispering under his breath, the large man said, "There were five. Huge, huge beasts."
"Yes, of course sir."
Kyru listened to their voices shrinking. His lips finally began to quiver. With weak movements, he lifted his arm to look at the dog who saved him. If Dina wants, his lungs struggled to fill, but he got a big gulp of the smell. He recognized it, barely, but he still did. "M...." He tried to say, but the tears were filling his eyes. His sore jaws cracked apart, but his tongue couldn't form any noise. A weak whimper shivered his lips and he reached out a bruised arm to put on Marco's back.
Then he broke. A cry, weak and feeble, filled his throat and he started shaking. "I-I was j-just a f-few pieces of fruit!" He tried to justify, but pain clouded his head and he felt weak sobs rip his chest. "It hurts, it hurts!" He wailed and his arm fell. He wanted to curl into a ball, but his leg wouldn't allow for it. Afraid and in pain, he shook and sobbed miserably.

Within a moment, Marco knelt beside Kyru in the form of a human again, reaching his good arm out to rest a comforting hand on the boy's shoulder if he could. "It's alright, Kyru," the captain said in a soft voice. "You're going be fine, let's get you some help, alright?" This was only if Cloudy wanted but maybe Marco tried to carefully lift little Kyru. If he was able to, then he was very slow and cautious because he didn't know where the boy was injured. If this all had been done, if Cloudy wants, then maybe Marco began his way back to the ship's infirmary. His broken arm, which he was probably using, was agonizing but his first priority was to help the child.

Kyru sucked in a tight breath of pain. He reached to wrap his arms around Marco's neck, trying to make most of his weight lean there because of Marco's arm--it was Kida who was the stupid one--but the pain he felt started making him dizzy and his stomach knotted with the need to puke. Gasping breaths left him and he whispered, "Why? Why did you save me? You're injured..." Most of what he was saying spilled out of his mouth and he didn't understand the words, nor if he was saying them the right way. The child pushed his face into Marco's neck to quiet his sobs and cries, but he still couldn't stop the quiet ones from forming. Tears ran unforgivingly down his cheeks and he muttered, "Thank you..." The way Kyru saw it, he owed his life to this man now.

Poor poor Kyru.. "Why did I save you?" Marco echoed quietly, surprised such a question was asked. "Kyru, I'm not cruel." He would have chuckled if he had the heart for it. "I wouldn't leave a child alone to be attacked by someone. I may be a pirate but I was a dad once." And he really wished those words hadn't fallen from his lips. They reopened old wounds and they bled. Marco fell rather silent for a moment, trying to regain his thoughts and pushing what he had said far away. "Let's just get you some help," he muttered in a small voice. "I'm sure your brother must be worried about you.."

Kyru glanced up at Marco, craning his neck. He would have asked, but he noticed how quiet Marco's voice got and decided he was too tired to start pressing Marco about it. He would later. "He's stupid and sleeping," Kyru whimpered angrily. He laid his head down and breathed shakily. Damn waiting for later, he needed a distraction. Tears filled his eyes and spilled out and he cracked, "W-Wh...What was h-he like? Or she?" He guessed was, the way Marco spoke. Kyru clenched his fingers. "M-My dad w-was really strong... a-and I m-miss him. H-he c-could turn into a dolphin, b-but my m-mom was..." He let out a sob, "my mom she.. sh-she was an wild d-dog. Th-they met when she almost drowned..." Speaking was too hard, but he thought that sharing something painful would help Marco. "I-I f-found our old home... b-but they weren't there... i-it looked like a ts-tsunami..." He pushed his face into Marco's neck. "D-Don't tell Kida..."

Yes, the captain realized what Kyru was trying to do, one painful story in exchange for another. His gaze darkened, not out of anger, but from the oncoming pain of having to explain his past. Why hadn't he just kept his mouth shut? "I'm sorry.. about your parents," Marco whispered softly, walking carefully along the path. The slow pace was due to the caution he took. Dropping Kyru or further injuring his arm to the point of crippling it was the last two things he wanted. He also wished to skip the subject of his son, but he wanted to ease the child he held in his arms.
"He was...," Marco began quietly. "He was such a beautiful boy. He was younger than you, a lot younger. We planned.. on teaching him to speak soon but.." A sigh. "I told your brother I'd grown up in a fishing village. One day though, when I was still a kid, this band of pirates invaded. I hadn't been able to hide so they captured me and made me the cabin boy." And he wouldn't go on to describe that adventure.
"Kyru, I want you to understand that even though I may be a pirate, I despise what I do," he said, gaze hardening. That was the sincere truth. "I hated it then too. Even when I was only a position below the captain. So, I left and went home. And I went to start a family of my own." If Kyru looked hard enough, perhaps he noticed that the edges of Marco's lips twitched up for a moment, as if he were going to smile. But he lost the strength to. "So I married someone I fell in love with and we had a son together."
But here comes the bad part of the story. "But you're not supposed to abandon your crew. The only way out is, at least for my position, is death. They found me. No harm came to me, but-"
Then there was that painful part. The part that was still etched into his mind. "They killed my family," he spoke in such a small voice, as if he were still standing in front of the burning home, listening to the cries of his wife and son, sounds that still haunt his dreams even now.

Tears fell from Kyru's eyes, not just from the pain. Guilt twisted and shook in his chest. "I'm so sorry..." He shook. "I'm really sorry, Marco..." He kissed Marco's cheek, because that's the only thing he could really do right now. That kiss meant a lot, because to Kyru, a kiss was complete trust. To Kyru, a kiss could heal the wounds, or at least lesson the pain, to soothe fears, and everything else a parent does for a child.
"I-I wish I could make you feel better," Kyru hiccuped. "I'm really sorry for what happened to you..." He looked up at Marco. "Y-You're the best pirate ever... better than all the other stupid pirates b-because you're kind..." Tears slipped from his eyes and he whimpered. Now it was the added pain for Marco. Kyru let out a shaky breath. "Kida really likes you, I-I can see why... I like you too... i-if I could have a new Dad, I would w-want him to be like you..."

Marco had been a little put off by the kiss, but he understood the intention behind it, understood it was all a kid could do. What really surprised him were the words that left Kyru’s lips, the last words, about having a new father. His chest clenched tightly. “I don’t think…. You should want a new father. You should just remember the father you had before..” Because Marco didn’t want to be a father again, he didn’t want to feel that agony again. He’d rather face physical torture than go through that. But he found that the presence of the two little twins who had saved him from a death at sea soothed that pain. Finally, he muttered a quiet but sincere, “Thank you, Kyru..”

Kyru would have said something witty, but he was too pained at the moment. "Mmhmm..." He shakily breathed out. Then he thought of something funny and attempted to giggle, but it really was a sad sound. "I kissed a pirate, I'm sorry..." He let out a long breath. Mostly talking to himself, he whispered, "What are we going to do now? I can't swim, and I don't want to stay on this ship... and w-we can't stay on land. I messed up really bad." Tears fell from his eyes. "We're going to starve to death now because I'm so stupid..."

"Kyru, it's alright," Marco said quietly. "You didn't mess anything up. Even if someone on the ship can't help, I'll find a healer for you so you'll be okay. You and your brother won't starve, alright? I promise.." And that was sincere, he wouldn't let anything happen to the two boys so long as he was around. When did that happen? When he rushed in to save Kyru from being killed. Oh Marco, you can't stop your heart from opening up to someone, even if you don't want to face the pain of losing them. "I'll help you two if you want me to."
