Imani found herself smiling to Areus. "You seem like you're going to miss it. I have two younger siblings... but... I'm not... super close to either. Well..." A sigh left her and she shook her head. "In our tribe, men are... they're seen as worthless, I suppose. If given power, they abuse it..." Her fingers curled and she shook her head. "So, what animal do you transform into? Oh, and were you close to any of your siblings?" There were so many more questions she wanted to ask: do you have a mate? Kids? Someone you love? Perhaps she could ask his love story. Love stories... they were things that didn't exist in her world, yet her mind always created them.

"I guess I better not get caught then, right?" He mused. Though he refused to say it out loud, the cocky warrior that he was was sure he could beat any threat from the tribe that came his way. "We turn into lions. And we also receive training in that form as well. So we're still war machines." Areus continued to smile at her as he spoke. "I can show you some time, but I want to know what animal your people can turn into. And for siblings, I was really close to my youngest, my only sister." His gaze and smile both fell, but his tone did little to reveal his drop in mood. "I'd take her around for little walks all the time." They could have killed her, or left her to die. And I'll never know... The thought caused his chest to ache, more so as he stared down at the crystal Imani had given him, the one he'd wanted to give to his sister. "Are you close to any of your siblings?"

Imani snorted at his not-get-caught comment and smirked lightly at the water. She looked up in amazement when he mentioned lions. When he mentioned something about a little sister, she became incredibly intrigued. What would she look like? A smaller, female version of Areus? She searched him for a bit, on the verge of laughter imagining an Areus with feminine features, but then she quickly reminded herself he wasn't real.
Letting out breath, she glanced to the side. "We transform into hyenas... and I've never been close to any of my siblings. We all have different fathers... but, I just.. my younger sister, Shetani, has somewhat... been speaking to me lately, but, I feel like I'm more of a nuisance to her than anything."
Shaking her head, Imani pressed his lips together and glanced up at him. "Would you like me to get you food? So you don't have to throw spears at my feet anymore?"
Of course, it was completely stupid to give an illusion food, but...
No, she couldn't find any logic in it.

Areus smirked lightly at her comment about him almost spearing her. "I guess if you think I'm too much of a hazard to get my own food, I don't think I'd you getting some for me." He thought it was a strange offer, though, if she didn't think he was real. But Areus was real, and so was his hunger. And throwing spears to catch fish probably wasn't the best method to use in a dark cramped place. Speaking of dark, a rather odd question filled him, one that he just had to ask. "Have you ever been.. you know, up there? Out of the tunnels?"

A light laugh left Imani when he mentioned something about him being a "hazard". Her eyes still didn't really meet his and she continued to watch the water with the glittering fish and rocks. "Um.." A frown pulled her lips. "No, I haven't. There is a place a room down here where the sun shines through a hole in the caves. I could show it to you sometime, but I don't want anyone else to see me. I'm not... exactly allowed to be out and by myself." Her eyes flickered to the side. "What's... what's it like out there?" Her eyes lifted up to his for a moment before falling back down.

Areus opened his mouth for a moment, until he realized he didn't know what to say. The warrior glanced away, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck. "I.. I don't really know how to describe it," he mused lightly. "It's not something I've had to describe before." He thought for a moment. "I.. Hmm. It's just.. open. Not like down here. The land seems like it goes on forever. And sitting under the sun or the night sky. Or when it rains." He chuckled. "Sorry, I know it sounds cheesy. I just like that kind of stuff some times." Areus sat up straight, an idea appearing. "I can take you up there if you ever want to see what it's like. It's really something you have to experience for yourself."

Imani searched his mask for a moment before pressing her lips tightly together. "Um... well, the only problem is that there are monsters... they attacked my sister. I can't protect myself. I mean, I can fight, but... they're new. They are something we've never run across, so we don't know how to handle them. Except, Amadi does... but he's a male, and powerful males, especially males from another tribe, aren't accepted here. As I've said."
She stretched and leaned back, popping some joints, and then she gently slipped out of the small pond and grabbed her mask, slipping it on. "But... if we're really fast, I'm sure we won't run into monsters..."
A mischievous smirk lifted her lips, except she paused, looking down at Areus' state. "I mean... you'll probably slow me down, though..."

"Don't you remember whe I said?" Areus mused, leaning back, resting his hands atop his knees. "We're war machines. We've run into a few of those things before. Same method we would use with everything else. It's easier doing it in our second form since we're bigger than they are." He fell silent for a moment, wondering if he should drop it. She didn't even think he was real. "Come on, don't let that stop you. I'll protect you, Imani." Areus smiled softly, a kind of smile he'd give his sister when he meant to reassure her or comfort her. "Whether that'd be from the monsters or your own tribe, I'll make sure you're safe.". But Imani was right about the state he was in now. Now, still wounded and beaten up, he wouldn't make it far. "I know I wouldn't be able to make the trip now, but I can wait. Don't you want to see an entirely different world than the one you're in now? There's so much more out there."

Imani glanced away from him for a moment, looking at a crystal. How would it feel like... to feel safe? To feel wholly, undeniably safe, with no possible way of getting hurt? Closing her eyes, Imani tried to remember what it felt like but she couldn't remember. Instead, she cast her large, dark eyes up to Areus, a small smirk on her lips. "So much more? There's so much more down here, too. This room? It's only a tiny bit of it. These caves are spectacular.."
She walked over to the crystals and pointed at it. "Isn't this wonderful? Plus... the darkness helps us hide. You're about brute force, but we're about sneaking..." Lightly she stepped around the pond, her eyes lighting up from her teasing. She stepped over to him, but stayed a good three feet over to him. "We have force, too. Can I see your lion form?"

Instead of pressing the issue further, Areus dropped the subject. There was no point in forcing her to see the world he knew so well. When she asked about his lion form, the warrior glanced up at Imani. "You wanted to see that now? Alright, if that's what you want." Areus stood up a moment after he spoke, only his tall form suddenly shifted away. And just as quickly, a large lion sat where he once stood. Areus, now a lion, sat down on his haunches. His amber eyes looked on at Imani with bright curiosity, soft even to hopefully show her she was still safe.
