Charlot gave Marco a look of disgust when he said "certainly not by you". He wasn't suggesting that! Instead of saying so, Charlot listened to Marco's words and he gave a snort, glancing away. "You're not going to choke me if I answer truthfully, are you?" Of course, even if he murmured this, Marco could probably still hear him. His eyes flickered up to Marco. "Is it truly that bad? To not be cruel?" He pressed his brows together and he shook his head. "I frankly don't care if you choke me--I respect you, Marco. A lot more than I respect Claus, or any other pirate out on these waters..." His voice lowered. "Considering what options I have, I wouldn't mind fighting for whatever you wanted me to fight for, or even if you wanted to put me on a suicide mission. I don't have anywhere else to go, not anymore..."

"You shouldn't say something like that." But Marco was no motivational speaker, so he said no more on the subject. The only words he did add were, "You're free to do whatever you want." Marco had to pull the ice bag away for a moment, as he was starting to lose feeling in his thighs. After a moment or so of uncomfortable adjusting, the captain realized there was no real way to get comfortable. "You're right, not being cruel is a good thing, but not on these waters. So, if you're going to stay, Charlot, just be prepared for something to happen at any moment."

"Like what?" Charlot looked up at Marco. "I'm being hunted by the Resistance, Marco. On land isn't going to be any worse out here." Anger twisted his features and he looked away because it was an ugly emotion on his face. "I don't understand why they think I betrayed them, and whatever reason it was, it doesn't excuse-" He cut himself off, his voice cracking. "{Gods,}" Charlot quickly shoved Laurence out of his lap and turned away from Marco, taking a few steps. He took in deep breaths, trying to calm both his anger and the sorrow.
After a few paces, Charlot turned towards Marco, his eyes burning. "I-I don't... I don't know how to handle myself--or... anything... I..." He stopped and tried to take in a long, calming breath. He slowly let it out and shook his head. "What... what would I do? As in, what would you have me do on the ship?"

Marco waited a moment for Charlot to cool off before he spoke again. He was finally able to sit up and sat back in the chair. "So much for your saint-like Resistance," Marco growled. "Won't even give you a chance to defend yourself.." He shook his head. "But if you want to be useful around here, then you could be.." The captain paused, a look a consideration passing over his face. How could he utilize someone like Charlot on his ship? And then it hit him. "You could act as a little bit of a scout, or something. Just snoop around like you did for the Resistance and gather information we might need."

A small smile if humor twitched Charlot's lips and he ducked his head. "Well, at least you know what I'm good at." He glanced to the side and reached up to run his fingers through his hair. After a few moments of consideration, Charlot nodded. "Well, that sounds good. I'll keep an ear out for you if any of your crew sound unhappy, or if they're planning to overthrow you," but he added in a mutter, "{doubt they would,}" and in a normal tone he said, "I'll also stay updated with current events and make sure your stowaways aren't planning to cause trouble." Pausing, Charlot frowned slightly and crossed his arms. "Since I kind of crushed your nuts, and you're doing all of this for me, I can cook you something. If you're hungry, that is. I… My father taught me how to, and he's… well, he used…" A sigh left Charlot. "Cook. He is a good cook. Was. Alain Philippé Bellerose. Heard of him?" Waving a hand through the air, Charlot leaned back on his heels, and then rocked back and forth on his feet. "To more important matters, would you like for me to report to you verbally, or would you rather I write it out? I mean, verbally means no real evidence of me snooping, but also means there's a chance we'll forget something."

"That's probably something to think about when the time comes, isn't it? No more thinking right now..." The captain leaned forward once more, lulling his head against the table. "Ugh, you can make something, but I'm not if I'll eat it though." Which was probably a lie. Marco was an akuma, which are probably eating machines. "If you're going to stay here, we'll have to find somewhere to stay so you won't be a threat to anyone else. Gods, the next day or so were going to be rough. "If you're really worried about listening in on the crew, you might end up spending most of your time watching Claus, which isn't something anyone wants to do.."

Charlot took a few steps towards Marco, and hesitantly rested his hand on Marco's head to which he began to lightly run his fingers through Marco's hair, trying to make his touch feel comforting and relaxing. "No more thinking, right? Try and get some rest, if you can. And don't worry about where I'll rest." A long sigh left him. "I will probably spend a lot of time near Claus, which really isn't something I want to do." He stepped away from Marco and headed towards the kitchen. "Laurence will keep you company. I'll wake you when I'm done."

The akuma stiffened when Charlot ran his fingers through his hair. Sure, he couldn't deny the touch was comforting, but it was a weird sensation. One he probably hadn't really experienced for a while. But Marco said nothing, didn't snap or bite. Instead, the captain closed his eyes and thought. There was too much to think about, no time for sleep. The day had already begun, even if he had gotten up early. But where should he put Charlot? The others... how would they feel about him letting a Resistance member stay on the ship? Marco had gotten enough shit over letting Claus stay. But a Resistance member to boot? He can't stay with anyone else. And I sure as hell know Percy and Kendall like their privacy.. And it was then that he knew where Charlot would stay. And the captain hoped blood wouldn't be spilled over it.

After whipping up a good breakfast, scrambled eggs with cheese and ham, cream french toast, and sausage. Though, Charlot made sure to only make a little more than enough for two people. As soon as he had two plates ready, one holding more than the other, he made his way back over to Marco. Quietly, he placed Marco's dish in front of him and then sat down in front of him. "If you're still not hungry, I'm sure one of your followers would like it." Meaning Kida or Kyru. Charlot wasn't entirely sure if Marco was asleep or not, but he somehow doubted the captain would fall back asleep.

Marco had actually dozed off but he jolted upright when he heard Charlot speak. He was still in slight pain and it probably wasn't smart of him to have left the ice pack there.. "I'm sure they'll be enough," he said through a yawn. He set the ice pack down. "And if it matters, I can't feel either of my thighs.. But thanks for breakfast." And much like a starving wolf, Marco dug in. While he wasn't sloppy or crazed with his eating, he probably resembled a growing teenage boy who hadn't been filled up on the first three servings. "Oh, and Charlot.. I have an idea where you can stay, but I don't think you'll be happy with it."
