Pana caught their words, but was slow to process them. He watched Sakari for a few moments and then clenched his teeth. Shakily, he pushed himself up, trying to suck in a breath against the pain, and he wrapped his arms around Sakari. He wanted to tell Sakari he couldn't. Not with them. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Sakari and took in his warmth that way. "I-I remember," Pana whispered, sorrow filling his gaze. As soon as he was healed and could take care of himself, he would leave. He would leave... And...
He didn't know where he could go. His brain was mush with pain. Instead, he snuggled closer to his brother, shamelessly because he was in pain. Plus, his mask was off, and he tended to be more of a baby without his mask.
Eska sucked in a breath and slowly shook his head. "Sakari, pack up for Pana. I... I think the elders are going to be really angry with you, so you'll hear from them. I'll take Pana's things to Kiya... and Dusty." He glanced over at Kiya. "Dusty... Dusty will make sure to protect you."
[Optional]
Dusty dashed towards Kiya, gasping when he saw her. "Kiya! You've been gone for so long..." He dropped to his knees and wrapped her in the safety of his arms before surveying the scene. His eyes flickered from Eska to Sakari and the strange man holding onto him. "What...?" He murmured, and then snapped his head over to Eska. "Wait. That's Ponyo... What happened?" Anger filled his eyes and he possessively tried to pull Kiya closer to him. "I swear I'll kill him-"
"No, that's not what happened, Dusty. Pana saved Kiya. From a monster attack." Eska said quietly.

Kiya really did appreciate Dusty and his comfort, but in front of the chief and the shaman? She fought away the blush and tried pushing Dusty away. "Dusty, stop," she growled quietly. "And Eska's right, he saved me and Sakari basically begged me to take Pana in for now." The teen let out a sigh, rolling her eyes as she did so. "And I said yes. Sorry."
Sakari wasn't even paying attention to anyone else, just his little brother. He tried pulling Pana close to him for a moment, whispering to Pana what herbs he needed to take. Carefully, he pulled away. The shaman turned to glance over at Dusty. Instead of offering a hello, he asked, "Can you help Pana walk back to where ever it is you're staying? Eska will be there with his belongings as soon as I'm able to pack." With a wistful smile, Sakari turned back to Pana. "I'd much rather go with you than face the wrath of those old folk who think they can meddle with everyone's lives.. Do you need help getting up, Pana?"

Since Kiya didn't want him, Dusty turned and wrapped his arms around his brother, holding him tightly. He glanced up at Sakari when mentioned, allowing his brother to quietly check to make sure he wasn't starving or mortally wounded. "Yeah, I'll help." He looked at Pana skeptically. The man looked different--edging on pathetic--in Sakari's arms.
Pana looked up at Sakari and almost pleaded him to stay, but instead he shakily tried to stand. Dusty broke away from Eska and walked over to them, first pulling up Pana, and then carefully lifting up Sakari. Pana watched Sakari with sorrow. "Take care of yourself... Your leg. Don't push yourself, Sakari. Don't stress yourself out. Don't worry over me... I don't know what you did to make the elders angry, but please... Please take care of yourself." Pana glanced over at Eska. "Make sure he takes care of himself. Make Amorak help him. Please... Please make sure he feeds himself, a-and..." Pana let out a breath, feeling tired and sleepy. And cold. "Protect him..."
"I will." Eska promised and walked over to Sakari. "If you promise not to harm them."
Pana's eyes flashed and he nodded solemnly. He couldn't tell Eska what he planned, mostly because he was tired and partially because Sakari would disapprove.

With Dusty's help, Sakari was able to stand up. But he wasn't sure how much longer he would be able to. His leg hurt so bad.. No doubt he had messed something up, but he hid his pain from Pana. With a sad smile, Sakari spoke in a soft voice. "Pana, you don't have to be afraid anymore. I took care of your father. So don't.. don't just try to survive out here. Try to live while you're at it. Bye, Pana.."
"Come on," Kiya called over to Dusty. "We should go before more people showed up." But she turned to Dusty, nodding towards Eska. "Did you want to go say goodbye to your brother before we go?"

Eska walked over to Dusty and pulled off his mask so he could smoosh his warm face against Dusty's cold one. With a quick embrace, he went to Sakari's side and pulled down his mask. "Be safe. He's obviously not a monster if Sakari cares for him so much, Dusty. So..."
"Yeah, yeah," Dusty gave Sakari a small smile. "We'll see how he acts. Come on, Ponyo."
Pana's lips parted, but instead saying anything, he gave Sakari a sorrowful glance, unable to look away as Dusty lead him away. When it hurt to keep turning his head, he dropped his head and focused on breathing and walking. He repeated the herbs in his head, sorrowful as he did so.

"When you have his stuff, just bring it to the abandoned village," Kiya said, glancing over at Eska. It was still more than obvious she was not happy about the situation. "We'll be there. See you then, I guess." Kiya was never one for manners. With that said and done, she turned to follow after Dusty and Pana.
Sakari watched them depart for what felt like an eternity. If he wasn't the shaman, he would have followed. If he wasn't also Eska's friend, he would have left. "Well," he started, his mood deteriorating as his pain grew. "We should head back. I probably have a meeting to attend, don't I?" He turned to look at Eska. "You and the others can think what you will about what I did. But Keelut deserved it."

Eska nodded. "He deserved a lot worse than what you did to him." A sigh left Eska and he looked over at Sakari. "It's terrible, but I never knew that you... cared so much about Pana. Come on, let's head back. You can lean on me. Don't even pretend. I know after a stunt like that you have to be hurting." Eska watched Sakari for a few moments before turning his head towards the direction of the village. If Sakari welcomed his help, he began to help lead Sakari back to the village. "What are we going to say? About Pana?"
Dusty helped Pana along the way. The male didn't say anything at all. He just kept his head down, fighting tears. They all should have just left him. He didn't deserve life. But Sakari's words trickled into his mind. What did he mean? Not just to survive, but to live? "So, Ponyo. Your face is different than what I imagined."
Pana sighed.
"If-"
"I have no..." Pana began. "I have no will to break Eska's deal. I have no will to do anything. I have nothing. Nothing." Pana whispered.
"I was going to say, if you're hungry, you might have to wait a bit," Dusty murmured. "I didn't mean to bring on the water works."

"I don't know," he murmured, gladly accepting Eska's help. "We could say we were too late, that we couldn't find him, or I guess we can tell them the truth with where we sent him." His gaze dragged across the ground as they made their way back to the village. "And I know a lot of people didn't know we were close.. My father took him after his mother died. He stayed with us for a while and I.." The shaman shrugged tiredly. "I guess I started seeing him as a little brother I needed to protect." Sakari snorted, his face contorting as anger swept through him. "And I obviously wasn't doing a very good job, was I?"
Kiya listened to the two, following from a few feet behind them. Getting close to Pana was the last thing she wanted to do. "He might. I might go out for a little bit before we get back. I told Sakari we could take care of him, but I don't want to be around him." Kiya angrily glared off into the woods around them. "Now I'll have to start catching more food..." Oh, she certainly had more to say, but the huntress wanted to wait until they were further away from Sakari and Eska.

Eska watched his friend in sorrow. "Some times, no matter what we do, we are unable to protect those we love. Don't blame yourself, Sakari...." He glance ahead of them. "Perhaps we should say that we couldn't find him, but we expect that he ran off in fear. This will make Keelut look worse, and you more justified.... hopefully." A sigh left Eska. "I'll try to fight for you better than I fought for Dusty." He let out a sigh and shook his head. "This tribe is a mess. I'm a terrible chief." He smirked wryly. "Don't get angry with me, I'm just complaining."
Perhaps, if Dina would like, they could be approaching the village now.
Pana felt guilt rip through him. He kept his head low. Quietly, he said, "I'm sorry... you can leave me in another hut... I just need warmth and rest now..." Tears blurred his vision and he shook his head. "I'm sorry, I... I shouldn't... I..." He didn't know how to explain it. He couldn't. The guilt built up and he pain to shake pitifully and cry. "I'm sorry..."
Dusty looked more than baffled and began to feel increasingly awkward. This man, who had humiliated them, beat her, caused them to be kicked out, was now shaking and crying in his arms. Cadoc, Dusty wanted to kick this guy. Or kill him. They had no rules to stop him. But Sakari... Cadoc that man never really did anything for him, but Dusty felt wrong just leaving Pana to die if Sakari put his trust in them.
"Kiya... We could set up a small room for him. I can build a small wall, easy, and separate him from us." He glanced up at her, raising a brow.

"You're not a horrible chief, Eska," the shaman muttered, staring on ahead of them at the village. He could only imagine what was waiting for him when they got back. "You're just stuck in a system that won't work with you. I used to get mad at my father all the time for the things that went on around us, why people were unhappy, why I had to marry a man." Sakari gave a weak chuckle. "Don't worry about me. I can stand up to the elders, especially your father. It will be fine. It's not like they can send me into exile. That would be the end of the tribe."
I'd rather he sleep outside, away from me. But Kiya knew she couldn't say that. "If you want to do that," her gaze narrowed on Pana. "Just keep him away from me." But when her gaze fell from Pana, it wasn't difficult to see the fear behind those sharp eyes. Pana had always scared her. But now he was going to live with them. Not wanting to think about it, she quickly changed the subject. "Do you want me to help? If you make the wall, I mean.. Or I can go hunt so we don't starve tonight."
