"Don't apologize," Claus murmured against Nikida's cheek. "You're here now and I don't think I'll let you go this time," the pirate mused lightly. His previous animosity and fears had all but faded. At the moment, nothing else mattered. Just Nikida. Claus took a step back, lifting his hands in an attempt to cup his husband's face. "Let me look at you." Perhaps, if gorgeous wants, it hadn't taken Claus long at all to notice Nikida's missing eye. Or perhaps he had noticed earlier and said nothing. "Did they do this to you?" He asked, referring to the pirates that had held them captive so long ago.
"I-I'm glad I'm h-here too. M-maybe I sh-should thank you," the boy started, peering up at Edmund. He had a small smile on his face as if he weren't used to large genuine smiles. Which he wasn't. "S-so, thank y-you, Edmund. F-for everything." For taking him and Xan in, for getting them off the streets where Cyril didn't know where he would have ended up. The little bird lulled his head against Edmund's chest, smiling to himself still. "A-anyway, I should p-probably get Xan all tucked in."

Nikida flinched, softly. Nothing but a twitch--but a flinch nonetheless. Claus was observant. A faint breath faded from Nikida's lips and he leaned in towards Claus, pressing the good side of his face into his husband's hand. "Yes," he whispered. His brows pulled together and he reached up to pull his hair over the eye. "It's not my favorite scar. I got that one a while back." Nikida's lips twitched lightly, as if he meant it as a joke. As if the missing eye didn't bother him. But his damn husband was observant. Reaching forward, Nikida ran his fingers lightly across Claus' cheeks, and pushed back his hair to peer into his eyes. "I... I am really sorry. I want to make it up to you, Claus. I..." His eye glazed over and he shook his head. "How are you? What has happened? Why are you on this man's ship?"
If anyone was paying attention, well, Goddard had dropped the shield and he now probably sat in the hallway with three stuffed animals. It would probably make someone laugh, a grown man playing with three dolls. Except he was having conversations with them.
Cloudy is guessing that Xan is still in Edmund's other arm.
Hopefully she guesses right.
A smile pulled on Edmund's lips and his eyes softened. "Any morally-correct person wouldn't leave a..." Child? "Young man," he said slowly, "in a situation like that." Then again a morally correct person wouldn't beat his child. Ignoring the dark thoughts, Edmund squeezed Cyril's shoulder and nodded. "Maybe both of you should crawl into a bed." He paused and gently said, "Maybe we can... help another become stronger. If that... isn't damn cheesy." He grinned and pushed Cyril towards a bed. "Don't say anything. Shut up. Damn." He sighed and stepped over to the bed to gently tuck Xan in.

Claus breathed out a sigh through his nose, fought the urge to roll his eyes. "You don't have to make anything up to me. You're already here and that's enough." The once fierce pirate captain couldn't help but try to press another small kiss to Nikida's cheek. And then another because he felt like kisses alone couldn't express to Nikida how happy Claus was to see him, how relieved he was to see him alive. "I'm not sure how much you know or heard but after that pirate attack, I set out to start my own crew. It took some time but I finally managed." He tried lulling his smirking face against his husband's shoulder. "You should have seen it, Nikki. I had half the world shaking in their boots at one point and I lost count how many ships I've shot down." Another quiet sigh. "But then there was a mutiny. Some bleeding twat sneaked onto the ship and apparently promised the men more money and gold." A snort this time. "As if they weren't making enough.. But after the men all had their fun, I stayed ashore for a while with Goddard. And I can't really tell you why I'm here because I'm not entirely sure myself. I don't know my next move."
If beautiful gorgeous wants, maybe Marco was walking down the hall when he came upon a rather curious- suspicious, really -sight. He paused, his brows raising as he took in Goddard standing outside a closet door holding three stuffed animals, one of which he recognized as the one Claus carried around. "Should I even bother asking why you're standing in front of the closet with.. Claus' toy?" Gods above, sometimes it wasn't even worth it. He was already aware that he had relinquished control over his ship and crew sometime ago. Now the inmates were running the asylum.
Despite himself, Cyril flashed Edmund another smile as he crawled onto the bed Edmund had set Xan in. "I-I thought w-we were already d-doing that," the small bird mused as he settled down beside his daughter. It didn't take him long to get settled under the covers, but then again, it never did. For a moment, he couldn't help but wonder how many beds he had slept in through out the years. Many, he assumed. And usually never the same. Cyril tried wrapping an arm around his daughter as he scooted closer to her. "A-anyway," he started, pulling himself out of such thoughts. "G-goodnight, Edmund.."

The kisses made Nikida chuff. He leaned against his husband, aching for more contact. More than anything he just wanted to steal Claus away and find a room for the two of them to take over, to build childish forts and lay next to another and share stupid stories. His eyes slid open and his lips curled. "I specifically remember a m-man staring at a picture of you in the news and sighing 'Gods, he's so damn sexy.'" Nikida couldn't stop himself from bumping his head against Claus' and nuzzling him. "I'm so proud of you, m-my captain," He breathed in deeply to say something else, but heard Marco's muffled voice through the door.
His body tensed and he pulled Claus against him, leaning to kiss him softly. He didn't want to risk speaking. The captain smelled of fishy dog, and usually dogs had good hearing.
Goddard smiled lazily up at the captain. "Ello Captain! Nice to see you're patrolling ship." He leaned against the door and plopped his yongrui underneath his shirt. It was too late, Marco had already seen them, but it was a well developed habit to keep them from getting stolen. "If you listen well enough, you might hear 'em chime." Goddard lifted "Claus' toy" up, as if to encourage him to listen to the chime. "Granted that's what I've heard. I can actually hear 'em. But there's nothing to be suspicious of, sir. Just an old man catching up with an old friend." He wiggled Marina's little legs with a small smirk. (optional: ) "Oh, and I locked Claus in the closet because he was being a little shit. Think of it as... grounding?" Goddard waved a hand through the air. "He can't do much harm without this one, but I'm certain you already know that tidbit."
Edmund pulled the covers up to tuck Cyril in, a habit perhaps. His eyes softened and he ran his fingers over Xan's head and gently tugged on Cyril's. "Good night, Stutters." He straightened to cast a quick glance towards the other bed, to make sure that his other son still slept well.
"Story?" Xan whispered tiredly, moving to cuddle against her father. "Beddime story?"
Smiling, Edmund pulled up a chair beside her and flashed Cyril a soft glance. "Hm... once upon a time, there was a fallen prince." Xan let out a little 'ooo' and squeezed the blankets. Her eyes slid slowly shut with a soft smile on her lips. "His kingdom was in shambles, nothing left but pieces of what once was something great." He propped his chin on his hand. "He didn't think he deserved the throne anymore, for failing his people. So he went into hiding. Then two little fairies were determined to find him." He gave Cyril an amused glance. "She's already asleep, isn't she?"

Marco opened his mouth to speak, only to close it a moment later. The process repeated several times as the captain tried to comprehend Goddard's words. Eventually, the captain's jaw set, clenched tightly. The faintest hint of a scowl curled the edges of his lips. "Just don't make a mess," Marco finally managed to growl. He stepped away after, his fists clenching at his side in realization that he was slowly losing control of his ship. And certainly his sanity.
A smirk curled Claus' lips when he thought he heard Marco leave. He wasn't sure but he hard nothing else after the captain's growl. Nikida mattered more to him than Marco did in that moment anyway. "Do you want to leave now?" The former captain finally asked, breaking the silence that had settled over them. "We could go back to my room if you wanted. It's probably empty." Or the only two occupants were sleeping. But Claus wasn't worried about Cyril or his daughter discovering Nikida. "I think I already spent enough time with you in the closet. In every sense."
"She probably is," Cyril said quietly. He sounded as if he were about to fall asleep as well. It was, he found, always easier to fall asleep when he knew there was nothing to worry about, no immediate threat looming overhead. Cuddling with his daughter helped. The boy scooted closer to his daughter and closed his eyes. "N-night, Edmund," he muttered into the pillow. "G-go cuddle w-with your son b-before he wakes up alone." Not that Elijah would wake up any time soon. The ship could be attacked at any moment and the little cub still wouldn't stir. Even if he was rolling around the floor. "A-and... t-thanks again."

Goddard would have giggled if he didn't have any self control. "Good night, Captain." His lips curled into a devilish smirk as soon as he had walked away. He sighed and leaned back against the wall. He waited a good while till he muttered to Marina, "I wonder how long that man's going to last."
His heart twirled in his chest. Nikida rested his head against Claus' chest and slid his eyes shut. He imagined a world where they didn't have to worry. A world with the two of them at the helm of a ship, underneath their own law with their own rules. Out of the closet. His heart stuttered and he brought up Claus' left hand to press a kiss to his ring finger. "Okay. We can go out. But... it wouldn't be smart to go prancing around telling everyone your husband's back." His eyes glittered with amusement and he nodded. "W-we... we can go back..." He wanted to apologize again. Instead, he nuzzled into Claus' hand. "Goddard's an asshole, and I think I'm going to tear up his mattress first thing."
"Go to sleep, Stutters," Edmund mused. He was tempted for a moment to lean over and brush his lips over Cyril's forehead, like he used to with his sons. But he quickly banished the thought. Pulling out his phone, he sent a quick goodnight text to Sam. He hesitated and added an 'I love you'. His stomach twisted in worry that Sam would get angry with him. Gently, he slid into Elijah's bed. Carefully, he pulled the cub up to his chest.
And then sleep now???
(((I guesssssss)))

"He'S nOt GoInG tO lAsT lOnG," Marina chimed in response, a hint of a sigh in her voice (can they sigh?). Honestly, she couldn't help but feel for Marco sometimes. Just because she was with Claus doesn't necessarily mean she agreed with tormenting the poor soul. Or tormenting in general.
Claus attempted to pull his hand away from Nikida, trying to bring them both up to pull his husband into a hug because he yearned to be closer to Nikida. Even if a vacant room and a bed for the two wasn't all that far away in his future. He wanted to cross the deep chasm that had crumbled between them the moment Nikida was take from him. "Then I'll get you teach the bastard a lesson first," the captain mused as he went to pull away. His hand found the doorknob, noted its lack of shield, and he pushed the door open. Light spilled into the small room, the light orb he had conjured fading away.
"It WaS aWfUlLy QuIeT iN tHeRe, GoDdArD," the stuffed sea turtle chimed, clearly amused. Especially when she saw Claus' brows collapse in agitation. "I'm SoRrY i EvEr DoUbTeD yOu Or YoUr MeThOdS."
(Yes, they sleep! We could always skip to something else, if you wanted? Was there anything else you wanted to do with them?)

A smirk curled Goddard's lips and he said quietly to her, "Aye. But the lads aren't happy. Apparently being gay doesn't make you happy." He threw his head back and laughed. He grinned and held out a hand with Marina in his palm. "Look! It's the gay captain an' his cyclops."
"I'll murder you," Nikida hissed, and snatched Marina out of his hand. He held her gently in his hands, and whispered, "It's good to see you, Marina," before he handed her back to Claus.
"Hey, if I be gone, then the two of ye would still be pissin and cryin' in yer own corners. Look at ye," Goddard looked at them appreciatively.
"S-Stop speaking like an idiot," Nikida grumbled.
"Yer only mad," Goddard pointed out and raised a brow. "Stop yer stuttering then we'll talk."
Nikida drew two fingers up and twisted the back of his hand towards him. Goddard bellowed a laugh and nodded, "There he is." He leaned back and rolled his neck. "I'm guessin' you two are gonna catch up. I'll be on my way, then. Play nice." He waved a hand at them and turned to walk down the hallway. It probably would have been smarter to leave before they got out, but speaking with Marina always put Goddard in a good mood.

Claus opened his mouth to growl something at Goddard though there was no point now, not when the older pirate was already walking away. Instead, he let out an irritated snort before turning back to Nikida. As he usually did, Claus held Marina close to his chest. It was a yongrui thing. "Come on then," he muttered. "Let's get back to my room before he comes back. Or before Marco comes back and discovers you. He's had enough with stowaways." Though, Marco had probably had enough with many things. Good, Claus thought with a smirk. It was always fun to make other captains squirm. His hand started to slither from his side, wanting to grasp for Nikida's but he remembered that they were in the hallway now. So, now they were back to dancing their relationship around other pirates. "This way," he said as he started to make his way down the hall towards his room.

A small smirk filled his lips and checked the hallways. "It's tempting to be in cat form, so I don't slow you down too much. But..." Nikida stepped up beside Claus and brought his arms around his shoulders. "I... remember how to walk. It's just a bit different then running around on four paws all the time. It'll be faster this way. And if anyone comes around, I'll act drunk." His lips twitched with a smirk before he searched Claus' face. "Or I can just shift. I though you might want to talk."
(or, we can skip to them arriving at the room, if so, let me know and I can change this)
