Well, Nikida had been right on that account. Plenty of blame had gone around. Claus had spent some time wondering what he could have done differently, how he could have saved Nikida if they had tried escaping harder. But, Claus was a pirate through and through. His thought had always been more occupied in the present and future than they had in the past. There were just some things he couldn't change, the past included. "Don't apologize," came his airy reply as he attempted to lull his head onto Nikida's shoulder. "I know I was mad before but there's nothing to be mad about. You're here now and that's all that matters to me. 'S long as you don't try to hide from me again," he mumbled, a small smirk playing at his lips. "And if we could just spend the rest of the night like this, then I think you've more than paid your due."

A smirk pulled Nikida's lips. He reached up to push Claus onto his back, and then he pulled himself onto his favorite spot: Claus' chest. Like the huge ass cat he was, he pressed his head underneath Claus' chin and kneaded the bunched up cloth on Claus' shoulder. "Then I suppose I'll stick around, to pay my dues," Nikida said softly, his lips twitching. He pulled himself up enough to press a soft kiss to Claus' lips. "Do I have to keep an ear out for someone barging into the room?" He reached up to trace Claus' cheek again, lightly with his fingertips. He pushed Claus' hair up and out of his face, then teasingly tugged on its ends. "Have you stayed faithful~?"

Claus snickered at Nikida's second question. "A few times. I couldn't help myself. I even considered paying for the dictator's son. Was a prostitute you know." Dina isn't sure if anyone ever outright told Claus so he had either been snooping around or had already heard of Cyril's profession when the boy was still on the streets. "So it was only out of guilt for my adultery that I decided to keep my wedding ring," the pirate mused as he went to kiss the top of Nikida's head. "It might be too late for anyone to come back but you could if you wanted." He closed his eyes for a moment, tempted to lose himself in Nikida's presence. Honestly, Claus was content enough in his husband's hold that he could fall asleep. "What about you? Find any nice lady cats or handsome toms in your travels?"

"Probably would have cried if you did," Nikida muttered. He smirked and pushed himself up so he could look down at Claus, his eyes playful. "I found a nice lady cat and a tom cat. We had several children. Brats, the lot of them. They all looked like you." He leaned down to kiss Claus, then traced kisses along his cheek, on his nose, then his brow. He pulled away and stared thoughtfully into Claus' eyes. "I... don't ever want to lose you again. What if we buy a yacht and travel the seas by ourselves. Buy a house on the beach..." He sighed. "No, I don't... want to tie you down. Forget I said that."

"The people who buy yachts are the kinds of people who don't spend a lot of time at sea," Claus mused as he lifted a hand to cup Nikida's cheek, his thumb tracing the anigma's cheekbone. "And I'm afraid I'm just too turbulent for that. But maybe after I've had my fill with harassing Marco, we could always take some time off from pirating." His lips curled into a playful smile. "But then after that maybe you and I can start fresh again, find a ship and a new crew, go back to terrorizing. It's been far too long and everyone's grown far too soft for my liking."

It would be too much to ask, then. For ask Claus to enable his fears. To allow him to hide away, like he has been for these past years. His heart stuttered. Gently he traced his finger on Claus' lip. "I'd follow you to the end of the world." He let out a broken break and his brows fell together. Truth. He should tell Claus the truth. But his husband probably knew how much of a coward Nikida has turned into.
No.
The coward that Nikida has always been. "I'm not sure how much use I am to you," Nikida confessed, and his cheeks heating. "I... couldn't..." He closed his eye tightly. "Protect you. It was all out of hand, a-and, I couldn't do anything. And... I-I..." He let out a breath. "I'm sorry. I'm... not being rational. At all."

Claus' brows fell and his playful smile fell. "Nikki," he murmured. His arms attempted to snake around Nikida's torso, attempting to pull his husband closer to him, not that it was possible with how close they were already. "Nikki, you bloke, nothing that happened was your fault." The pirate bowed his head, pressing his nose into Nikida's hair. For a moment, his eyes swirled with the pain they had all felt that day. "If anything, I hadn't been able to protect you. But it doesn't really matter now because you're here with me. Even if you're the most useless sack of shit to ever sail the seas, you're here and you're alive."

Nikida surprised himself with a laugh. He, much like a cat, bit any part of Claus he could get his teeth around. Though he was probably one of the most useless pirates on this planet. His eyes sparked playfully and he pulled away to kiss Claus, then he bit his lip. "I'm incredibly useful. Who else can make sure the desk is warm enough to nap on?" He chuckled softly and then nudged him gently. "We'll probably have to continue to be quiet about... us." Which was something Nikida never minded--probably something he insisted upon at time. He moved to rest his head on Claus' chest, staring thoughtfully at the wall. "When we get a crew, I'll keep an ear out for anyone planning mutiny." He yawned and snuggled into his husband's chest. "I've had so many dreams of this moment, Claus..."

Upon being bit by the large cat that was resting on top of him, Claus went to flick Nikida gently on his husband's nose. "When we get a crew, I'll keep an ear out for mutiny. See, I won't be blindsided again by those blokes," he mumbled, though he could not find anger in the moment of this sweet bliss. Nikida's yawn was contagious and soon Claus found himself yawning, found himself realizing that only now was he tired. "Mm, I know," he finally said to his husband's last remark. "I have too though they didn't involve being trapped in a closet." A coy yet tired smile curled his lips. "How about for old time's sake we settle down for the night?"

"Old time's sake?" Nikida smirked at his husband's words. Determined and stubborn as usual, Nikida slid off of Claus to stand up. He used the bed to keep himself on his feet. Shakily, he moved across the small room and asked, "Can you make a light?" He turned the lock on the door, if there was one, and turned off the light. Either way, if Claus had made a light or if he hadn't, Nikida made his way towards the bed. "I'll have to borrow a change of clothes at some point." He muttered. Seeing as it's been forever since Nikida has been human, Cloudy would hate to think of how old that outfit was. Quietly, Nikida quickly got ready for bed, which probably only consisted of taking off his pants, before falling (literally) into bed again. "I have a feeling we won't be able to do this every night." Nikida sighed.
(I am not sure where else this could go, other than the two falling asleep and cuddling, so... I suppose we could skip? Unless you wanted the two of them to talk more.)
