Percy snorted. "No, it's not that precious. What do you think? Afraid you'll dirty the blankets with your butt?" He laughed at the idea and shook his head. "No," he stared at the blanket. "My mother isn't... we're not close. If she died, I would be shocked, but.. I wouldn't be sad. I would by sympathetic for my father, but that's it." His eyes lifted up to Kendall. His shyness was so, so cute. Cute? Yeah. Cute. Smiling, he set out the food. "Well, that's kind of the norm for us, too. Males take care of the children, usually."
His eyes danced at he watched Kendall, and he handed him some berries and some other delicious treats. Cloudy is hungry. "Daycare?" He murmured, and then she shook his head. "We celebrate a lot of things, I suppose. But the biggest one is on the solar... what's it called? First day of summer? Celebrating Ekek."

"The summer solstice?" Kendall added. "We have something like that, I think." (Dina doesn't know because the pemanu don't have any festivals listed) Reluctantly, Kendall took the food from Percy, but he wanted for the latter to start eating before he did, as he was trying to be polite. "My job is to sing for festivals and the holidays we have, most of them either being stories or the choir for performances..."
Kendall's face lit up suddenly when he thought up something. Smiling up at Percy, he asked, "Oh, how did your 'friends' react when you came back alive? Did they think you were a ghost or something like that?"

"Yes," Percy perked up. "That's right. It's awesome. Too bad you couldn't pretend to be a navajo and join in." A grin lifted his lips. "There's races, and a whole lot of good food." He saw Kendall's hesitation and shook his head, "I got this food for you, don't worry. Eat it all, take thirds, fourths. Steal all the food." He chuckled, his eyes sparking up on their own when Kendall asked.
Gods.
He. Was. Adorable.
Stop that!
"It was the best. Seriously," a smirk twitched Percy's lips. "Really." Before he could get the story out, laughter bubbled up inside of him and freed. The best part about being in the gorge was that their words was muffled by the sound of the powerful water. No one, hopefully, could hear them. Calming his laughter, he took a bite out of his own food so Kendall would eat, and then swallowed, preparing himself for the story.
"Alright, so it was a bit late when I got back. Rafferty and them were discussing stories and stuff, what to say if asked about where I was. At first I didn't know what to do, especially since I was really tired. And I let out a groan because my head hurt, and they all looked at where I was standing--in the bushes, so they couldn't really see me, but their faces! Dollie, really, you should have seen their faces! I bet they all would have screamed bloody murder, too. But no, they looked at me with utter terror and then they ran." Percy laughed and shook his head. "I think Rafferty pissed himself. He ran into a tree as he ran from me."

The story made Kendall laugh alongside Percy, smiling as he heard the tale. "You'll just have to keep pretending to be a ghost whenever you're around them," he mused, finally digging into his food because he had been told it was alright to. "Or, if you want, if they ever start picking on you again, I could scare them." Kendall lulled his head to the side in thought. "Though, that might be a bad idea, especially if you're all training to be warriors.
Quietly, Kendall changed the subject. "T-thanks for bringing me some lunch. I can bring you some next time, if you want. All we have though are potatoes, and corn, and mountain goat meat and goat cheese." He smiled softly, eating another berry. "Not as good as these berries though..."

Kendall's laugh was so musical it had to of been a crime, really. He noted the subject change, and smiled brightly. "No, you can if you want. I've never had cheese or... goat." Percy grinned and then he shrugged, "Not all of them are training to be warriors. Rafferty is. I am, only because I didn't want to be stuck in the village all day, oh! And because my dad is a Champion, and I want to get that title too."
Percy took a bite out of his food, which Cloudy still doesn't really know what it is, and swallowed. "You promised me you would sing. Well, you can eat first, which is okay." Then his eyes sparked with a sudden realization that came a bit too late. "Wait, your whole entire life, you've only been eating those four things?"

"Not necessarily," Kendall said with a sheepish smile. "There's different ways to prepare them, especially the corn and potatoes. But, it's kinda hard to grow anything else on the mountains. We live on the part where it's all rocky and jagged. The soil's not very good for a lot of crops..." He wasn't sure why, but he was feeling sheepish, especially with the way Percy had exclaimed about it.
He went on to quietly eat his food, mentally changing the subject. It excited him, thinking about singing for someone new. He loved singing to anyone who was willing to listen. The question was what should he sing. "If I sing, is there anything in particular you want to hear? Something with lyrics? No lyrics?"

Again, another subject change. Instead of pressing it, he allowed it and felt himself brighten once more. He's never been this interested in someone before. "Both! If you didn't mind. Sing me your favorites!" Bad use of grammar there. He didn't care. Cloudy assumes they have bread. Percy tore off a piece and began nibbling on it. With a swallow, he asked, "So what do you do between festivals and all the jazz? Do you do other work?"
Percy offered some of the bread to Kendall, excitement glittering the colored parts of his eyes.

"Not really," he muttered absentmindedly as he went to take some of the bread. Kendall nibbled on a bit quietly before he went on. "Other than performing for kids or anyone else who wants me to." He shrugged, offering Percy another smile. "I guess I'm sort of dead weight, other than being a singer. Can't fight, can't build, can't hunt. I just sing." Kendall brushed his hands together, cleaning them, before he stood up. The pemanu seemed to brighten up with eagerness, always willing to sing for someone. "Did you want me to sing now or wait for you to finish eating?"

"Now!" Percy exclaimed with excitement. "Lunch and a show!" He chuckled and settled back, watching Kendall. "I can't imagine you dead weight. If it makes up for anything, I like you better than anyone else in my race. Not counting my dad, that is." With a grin, he popped a piece of fruit in his mouth and watched Kendall. He's so cute... How many times could he think that in one sitting, really? This kid is going to have to stop being so darn cute or else Percy is going to have a heart attack.

Kendall laughed softly, a small blush lighting up his pale face as his gaze fell. "Alright, alright... You're like a needy child." The pemanu's blue eyes lifted up to Percy and he took in a deep breath. And began to sing in a elegant voice. Perhaps the first song Kendall sang was perhaps a story about their guardian deity creating the pemanu race and said race being the most graceful and elegant, worthy of able to fly and what not. It was a song he sang mostly at the festival that took place each and every year around the time of the summer solstice. The song went on for a few moments before concluding with Kendall giving a bow. Dina is sorry.
