His words pulled her out of her sorrow by the pure shock of what they meant. Her eyes searched the strange warrior's, and then they began to bite with tears. A watery laugh burst from Imani, and then it strengthened. Her laughter came from the fact that Areus, someone she was imagining, didn't think she was crazy. Either way, it felt entirely good for someone to say that to her. So good that it made her a weird watery laughing mess. Her water works only lasted a few moments as she gained composure, but small bits of laughter continued to tumble from her lips. With her brows together, Imani forced herself to meet Areus' eyes and she did so for a long time. "Thank you, Areus..." Imani reached up under her mask to wipe away stray tears.
Then, she slowly stood, pressing her hands together. "I also worked on something for you, but it's not done. So, you can't see it. But, I thought of some new questions. If you live up there," she waved her hand up, "what do you eat? What are your favorite things to eat?"

Her laughter and smile caused his own lips to curl into a soft smile. It was a nice sound. Imani's thanks was enough to make him feel as if he had accomplished something. Something good. Something that wasn't acquired through brute force or skill. But being sincere. "There's a lot of different stuff to eat up there. Probably more than down here, right?" With a chuckle, Areus leaned back, pressing his hands to the cool earth. "Well, there's a lot of game to hunt, such as (insert animals here), but also some of the livestock we keep. Plus, from the livestock, we get milk and cheese and anything else. We also grow foot, different kinds of vegetables and fruits. I really like fruits the most, my favorite being (insert fruit here). They're really sweet. And really good at re-hydrating after a tough day of training."
Areus lulled his head back in thought. He really did miss the foods his tribe offered. There wasn't- or as far as he knew- a lot of variety in the caverns. Looking back up at Imani, the warrior was growing tired of having to talk through his mask. Instead of taking it off, he wanted to make sure Imani was comfortable with it. "Hey, would it be alright if I take my mask off? I won't if it's something you're not comfortable with.."

Thinking of all the different foods he described made her hungry, except she didn't mention it. Instead, she watched him curious, and wondered if he missed his tribe. He probably did... would she miss her tribe? Then she remembered he wasn't real. Instead of sighing for no reason, she remained quiet.
The mention of his mask made her cheeks blossom. "I-I... w-well..." Her eyes fell. Would it really be a bother? Plus, he saw her... and he was just an illusion. And he saw her without her mask. "You can take it off," a smile lifted her lips. "Plus, if you saw my face, it's only fair if I can see yours, right?" Reaching up, she slipped off her mask and held it to her chest, only because it was comfortable.
She hoped the dark lighting covered her light blush. How stupid would she seem, blushing because of an illusion?

She's so adorable, Areus thought, captivated. Her spots were his favorite; it was something he had never seen before. Instead of lingering on that like a creep, Areus went to take off his own mask, setting it off to the side. Except she still thinks I'm not real... As much as he wanted to tell Imani, Areus thought against it. After all, it was much better to have a friend than an enemy. "If you'd like, you should me around this place sometime. I've been stuck in this little..." He didn't know what to call it. "Cave? Or I could show you the strange outside world sometime."

Imani found herself captivated by his face. What did she expect? She didn't entirely know. Aside from her initial fear.. she felt attraction. She hadn't felt attracted to a male for an extremely long time. Not that she ever really had time to explore a sexual life, and she certainly didn't want to even think about it after...
Whoops.
He asked her something.
Her cheeks burned even more when she realized she was staring at him. Ducking her head down, she ran her fingers through her hair. Luckily, she remembered the last few bit of his question. "Well, yeah. I could show you someplace else to stay. I can also show you where I catch fish. I don't... I do it on my own, because... I don't like to have any association with males... or anyone. We should probably wait to go outside till you're not so hurt, that way we don't have to be slower..."
Please tell her that's what he was asking. Please.

Areus smiled, perhaps maybe just noticing only a bit of her attention, and her distraction. But he said nothing about it. He had done the same only moments before. "It's okay, I understand." So cute.. He nodded to her last words. "Sure, I guess, we can go out- I mean explore and what not when I'm healed." A sheepish smile curled on his lips and he glanced away, rubbing the back of his head. No, not go out. Ugh, calm down.. "But I guess in the mean time, since I'm stuck here, are there any interesting places down here that I should look forward to seeing?" Honestly, Areus didn't know what he was to see. What was there to even see underground? It still surprised him that a tribe even lived there, but the tribe name itself was not foreign to him; it was the tribe they often got metals from to forge their weapons.

Her mind wouldn't allow her to digest why he reworded his sentence: "we can got out." Instead, she decidedly ignored it. Until later. Without realizing it, Areus had drag some of her old self--not the self that most of the tribe knew, but the one her mother probably knew very well. "Puh," Imani held a hand to her breast bone, acting as if Areus had offended her in the worst way. "Puh. Simple lion commoner! Doesn't know the beauty of the underground!"
With a smile that crinkled the corner of her eyes, Imani stood up and held up her mask dramatically, "You should be looking forward to see every nook and cranny of this place. And it's better, because you have me as your guide." She paused, her confidence fading as a blush pinched her cheeks again. "B-Because, I... I know my way around, and I would like to think I know of places... others don't..."
Clearing her throat, she put on her mask and glanced away. "Ready to go, little unknowing cub?"

Areus snorted lightly and bowed, teasingly saying, "Oh yes, O great one. I am ready to be enlightened." Smiling softly, the warrior stood and grabbed his mask, putting it on. "Alright, O great one, where are we going to go first? Through more dark, cramped caverns and tunnels?" He mused. Areus wouldn't admit it now, as he really was eager to explore, but he felt as if there was no way he could grow use to the dark underground. "Might as well get some exercise now, I haven't been doing anything since I got here." And if the generals of his tribe saw him slacking off, they'd skin him and use that as their new flag. He wondered how far from the truth that was. Probably not far.. Areus stepped away for a moment, reaching down to grab his broken spear. It was best to be prepared. "Alright, let's go."

Imani took note of his broken spear and uncertainty flashed in her eyes. Quickly, she reminded herself that she was the only one that could see him. Her eyes softened lightly, along with a smile on her lips. "We'll go through the darkest of the dark tunnels, and the most cramped ones, too." A giggle left her as she said, "The poor little cub isn't so little..." With that, she stalked towards the entrance of their little hideout and stepped silently outside of it.
With the grace of a hunter, she moved quietly down the tunnel, checking now and then for sounds of anyone else, and making sure that Areus was following her.
She regarded him for a moment and then suddenly took a turn and started running. It wasn't out of fear, but to give him the exercise he asked for. Cloudy really isn't sure how the tunnels worked, but perhaps this was not a path that patrols went on, and maybe it eventually lead out to give a view of the Nyumbani village and the bridge.

I'm not a cub, he had wanted to say but there was no point in protesting. Areus followed behind her as loyally and diligently as he would follow a general into battle. He realized that he would probably follow her anywhere, even if they had just met. She was adorable and a leader. The warrior couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Imani had become leader. But then, he thought, she would have killed him on sight. When she suddenly bolted, Areus felt worry course through him, wondering what he had done wrong, but he followed her still. When they came to the sight of the village, Areus came to a stop, much to the relief of his aching exhausted body. He fought back the yrge to breathe heavily; he wasn't weak. "So," he started, glancing over at her. "This is where you live, isn't it?" Areus smiled brightly. "I'm not sure how I'd feel living underground, but I think it looks nice." He paused, then asked. "So, you don't sleep on rock beds, do you?"
