Carefully, Zachariah sat back and shifted into his human form. His brows came together in thought and he ran his hands through his hair. "I don't know... I was thinking he smelled like Jem."
"But he smells like you," Jeremiah said.
"Maybe we're all just stinky," Zachariah sighed, and his brother let out a laugh. Shyly, he crossed his legs and ducked his head. Quietly, he played with his thumbs and swallowed. "Jem, do you remember..." His voice quieted and he glanced up at Nate before his eyes fell again. "I don't know, it reminds me of... when we were really young. Do you remember him, Jemmy? Before Grandpa got us?"
"Him?" Jeremiah echoed. "No... no I don't. I only know what you've told me."
Zachariah looked behind his shoulder and towards Chase. "I mean, I don't know... where our father went. But I mean, it's a comforting smell. Something that makes us feel safe. So, maybe, I mean... is it possible he's... our brother?"

Brother? What were they talking about? Nate's brows furrowed in confusion as he pulled the blankets tighter around his shoulders. How could he be there brother? He already had a family. Sure, a family that sold him into slavery. But he still had his sister and she seemed to love him. Nate still wished she had that toy she had given him the first time he had run away to find her.
But it was a thought Chase considered. "It could be. It's something to consider if there's this familial smell that makes you all comfortable around each other. If you two want, we could always find out with a DNA test." All about that science, Chase. "There's nothing wrong with taking a test." Now he was really curious. "And it's not just because he's an anigma, because there's no scent like that when you're around Sage, right?"

Slowly, Aaron drew his arms around Nate. He frowned deeply and held him closer to his chest. His eyes drifted from Chase to Zachariah. His brow popped up. It didn't matter if they were triplets, although unlikely, Aaron was never letting Nate go.
"No, Sage smells... like 'stay away'," Jeremiah scrunched his nose. "Because she's having babies."
Zachariah frowned and said, "Sage smells like milk. And lion. And dog." His eyes flickered towards Nate. "Not like Nate. Nate smells young, and..." Like fear.
"Well," Aaron shook his head. "I am not sure if you haven't noticed," his eyes flickered up towards Chase. "But Nate's not good with strangers, and hospital situations only freak him out. I'll gladly do a cheek swab or give you a hair or whatever, but I am not risking Nate." He rested his cheek on the top of Nate's head. "And even if you are family, I'm not leaving him."
(optional)
"Nate," Zachariah held out a hand. "I'm Zachariah, this Jeremiah. You can call us whatever you want. I call Jeremiah Jemmy, or Jem. But the others call him Jayjay."
"And I call Zach 'Zeewee'," Jeremiah grinned.

Nate offered Zachariah a small shaky hand as the two shook hands. Though silent about the issue, he knew Aaron was right. And he couldn't think about leaving Aaron either. Nate needed Aaron. They needed each other.
"Oh, no. He wouldn't need to go to a hospital to take a test. My father (maybe) knows someone who works at a lab. I think hair will do just fine." He turned his attention back to the twins. "I should probably get back to Seth. Want to come with me or visit some more?"

"Tell me when you need a hair. He (maybe) sheds a ton." Smirking, Aaron let go of his Nate and carefully rolled onto his back, crossing his fingers behind his head. "The kids are fine. I don't mind if they stay. As long as Nate is comfortable and happy, that's all I care about. Do they have a certain bedtime or-"
"No," Zachariah quickly cut in. "We can stay, and when Jay or Nate gets tired, we'll go back. Unless... you want to go?" He watched his brother.
Jeremiah glanced up surprised and shook his head, "No! Even if Nate's not our brother, I want to be his friend. It would be great to know someone who isn't related to Kenneth." Smiling, Jeremiah shifted into his tiger form and chuffed at Nate.

Chase couldn't help but smile as he came to the realization that it was rather adorable seeing the twins so excited about making a friend. He made his way back towards the door. "I'll see you two later then. Remember, don't overstay your welcome, alright?" And with that, Chase departed from the room and made the short trip back to his own room across the hall.
Because both of the twins had transformed to show off their form, Nate felt it was only fair if he did the same. He felt.. safe enough to do so, be that the result of the strange smell or something else, he wasn't quite sure. The small boy retreated back under the blankets for only a moment before he emerged as a small spotted cat. Sheepish, Nate crawled slowly and cautiously towards the tiger cub in front of him to get a better whiff of the two.

Jeremiah's ear perked and he dragged his soft belly across the bed to sniff Nate carefully. He rolled onto his side and stuck out a paw to lightly bat his maybe brother.
Aaron, on the other hand, wished he had a phone, so that he could record all of this. He rested his head on his hand and monitored them, but it seemed as if Nate was comfortable, and that the boys were thoughtful. A small smile pulled his lips and he gently reached to run a hand down Nate's back. "There. A kitten party."
(optional)
Seth laid on the bed, his upper half hanging off as Milo giggled and tried to pull him back up onto the bed. Except, Seth looked tired as all hell and had his phone in front of his face. When his brother walked in, Seth grumbled, "So? What happened? Did all hell break look? Did you shoot him? I hope you shot him. And used a silencer."

The little kitten always made sure that he was close to or leaning against Aaron as he played. Today consisted of a lot of firsts for Nate, many of which were possible because his adopted father was with him. No way would he have been able to play with Jeremiah and Zachariah otherwise. Nate sat himself down before he hesitantly reached back to playfully swat at Jeremiah.
Before Chase could answer Seth, the older brother made his way into the room before he sat himself down on the edge of the bed. He laid back. "Sorry, but no. Jayjay and Zach are in the middle of a play date though. But that's probably not something you want to hear." Chase rested his hands beneath his head. "And they think Nate might be their brother. Small world, right?"

Zachariah smiled lightly and leaned back, making sure his stupid brother didn't do anything stupid.
A happy noise left Jeremiah and he gently pawed Nate again and rolled onto his back, his tail whipping back and forth. With a small smirk, Aaron reached over and scratched the cub's fat belly. Like a malicious little bitch, Jeremiah wrapped his paws around Aaron and bit his hand. A laugh left Aaron and he smiled, "What a brat." He managed to pinch Jeremiah before pulling away and giving Nate a small pet.
Jeremiah reached out both paws for Nate, gently pawing at him.
Seth let out a groan. He pushed himself back up onto the bed and flopped over Chase, burying his face in Chase's chest. "Small world. Bitchy people. I didn't even get the worse of it. But... I don't know the history between Ry and that dick. What if Ry goes in there and they start fighting? And the twins are caught between that? Why didn't you-" A groan left Seth and he muttered, "Why do you trust people so easily?"

Hesitant still, Nate carefully crawled closer to Jeremiah. Since the other cub was on his back, maybe Nate tried to playfully pounce on top of the tiger cub. Honestly, the boy couldn't remember the last time he had ever played like this and for a moment he wondered if he had ever.
For added cuteness, Chase tried wrapping his arms around Seth's head. Because what big brother could resist the urge to cuddle with their little brother? Seriously. We need more sisters. "Come on, Seth. Rylan wouldn't do that. Even if he did, he would never do that with children around." Chase smirked lightly. "He's just as domesticated as you are now. If he really wants to get into it with Aaron, I have a feeling he would wait until the kids aren't around." He tried scooting down a bit so he could nuzzle his head against his brother's. "Seth, you have to learn to trust people when you're traveling in a huge group."
