Above the ground, the sun burned brightly in the sky and bathed the crippled land in its warmth. Far below the earth, far below the dirt and the rocks, such warm sunlight could never be found.
Far below the surface, the only light to be found was the soft glow of crystals as they lit the cavern walls and guided travelers from one cavern to the next.
In this particular cavern, crystals glowed with a soft blue and the roar of a waterfall could be heard. The combination of the water droplets and the soft blue glow created a wave of blue light that lit the entire cavern. It was the closest thing to sunlight these caves would ever see.
Along the path that had been carved out by both use and time, a lone figure walked silently. The figure, a pale young woman with short gray hair, walked quickly as if with a purpose. Her soul purpose was to be alone, to escape the chaotic and the business of a life she hadn't chosen. Only a little bit ago had she been able to escape the guards that were assigned to watch her.
Purple orbs darted around with caution as the woman occasionally glanced over her shoulder. She had no idea why but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was there. She couldn't see, hear, or even pick up a scent. But indeed, something was there.

The creature didn't stay on any particular path or moved to any specific destination. It slithered along the darkness, not leaving any trace. Or, it might not to someone who didn't know how to spot the signs. The most obvious signs were carcasses left behind. To anyone else, it might seem like any animal, but to a man who saw his mother torn in half, it was more than that. A scent hit the creature's nose. A shrill of excitement left it and it charged forward through the darkness.
Its beaty eyes glowed in the darkness. The creature spotted its prey and let out an excited, unnatural call of a hunt. It flew across the darkness and towards the figure. With its long claws extended, it tried to dig into the figure's leg to immobilize it. And then it would have some fun.
One might ask why he dared to go so near to tribe territory--Amadi, not the creature. It would be because he spotted the creature entering it. This monster. He decided that a tribe could handle it. But then he started thinking of all the innocent lives that could be lost, and he scrambled after it. Except, he lost track of the thing. He feared getting caught, but he feared the monster killing someone more.

The sudden noise caused the woman to immediately pause in her tracks and turn sharply towards the source of the call. Only, the sight of.. whatever it was, caused the woman to freeze up. No scream or cry of fear escaped her lips but being unable to move, she was unable to avoid the attack and was drawn back to reality as a searing pain shot across her leg.
But surely all that training had not gone to waist. She couldn't die here! Despite, perhaps, now trapped under the monster, perhaps the woman reached for and drew a knife she had been advised to carry with her. With a growl, the woman tried stabbing the blade into the monster, where ever she could reach. Remember, in her tribe, women were not at all powerless. But don't be fooled into thinking she was not afraid. No, fear pumped viciously through her veins and her eyes were wild with said fear. But in the flight-or-fight response, the only option was to fight.
(ugh bro I'm sorry)

Sounds of a battle led Amadi to the creature, but he paused. Someone else was there. A tribesperson. His stomach twisted with distaste. For a few moments, he waited. This was only because this person could perhaps fight off the monster. He crouched and waited, slowly pulling out his blades. The monster let out a gurgling sound of anger went she retaliated. It stepped on her chest with a powerful paw and screamed in her face.
Amadi gave the person props. But he couldn't sit bad and watch idly any longer. He shot forward a hooked one of his blades in the creature's mouth, right before it chomped down on her. He pulled back, ripping flesh. Again, the monster screamed and turned to strike at Amadi, but he leaped backwards and barely missed its claws. The creature looked down at the woman underneath him, and then decided that Amadi was more irritating prey.
((You can either ignore this next part, or if you like it, we can go with it x3 Imsorrymypostissostupid)
It launched towards Amadi, but he ducked to the side and rolled. The creature gurgled and lifted its mouth to the air to give a warning sign. Instead of attacking, Amadi stayed where he was, deadly and silent. Then creature then charged, claws flayed out. Amadi rolled towards the creature and cut in an x-shape on the creature's belly. It fell to the ground and shakily stood up, snarling and snapping. Amadi then waited. And, sure enough, the creature collapsed. He breathed heavily and walked over to the creature, cutting its neck for good measure.
He then turned to glance at the person, watching her carefully. So a woman. "Did it cut you?"

"Y-yeah," the woman said in a shaky voice, trying to find the will to stand. It didn't come and she was only able to sit up, trying to catch her breath as if she were the one who had been fighting with the creature. However, after another moment or so had passed, the woman stood, leaning heavily on her good leg while the other bled. "Who are you?" She demanded, not angrily, more in a curious voice. "And what was that.. that thing" Now worry fired through her. What if there were more of these creatures in the tunnels and caverns? Many more? Would they be able to fight them off?

Amadi pressed his lips together. He sheathed the blades and slowly walked over to her. "I honestly don't know yet I've been killing them for a while now. They're monsters. That's all I know. And they kill, heartlessly." His voice shook slightly at the last part. He then lifted his hands as he crouched by her to examine her bad leg. If she didn't seem like she was going to hurt him, he gently reached out and took a look at the cuts. "You need to get this cleaned. Quickly. And then wrap it up." He slowly stood and stepped back from the woman. "Can you walk?" He hoped she could. Visiting a tribe was near the last things he wanted to do.

"I don't think I can," she said honestly. It would be hard to return to the village, journeying through rocky terrain with only one good leg, especially since she felt as if she couldn't even stand. Even still, her fear had gone for now and her gaze was locked onto this stranger that stood before her. "But you didn't answer my first question. Who are you?" If Amadi had his mask on still, then it was obvious he came from another tribe. "What tribe did you come from?" This chick was still new so she hadn't been educated that much about the tribes around her.

Amadi let out a long sigh. "I'm Amadi. And I suppose my birthplace is the Kigun tribe." He watched his feet. "But I am not a part of them any more. I never really was. My mother was kicked out for loving the wrong person." Bitterness settled into his tone, but pain also shined in his eyes. Amadi glanced around and then turned to the woman. "And you?" He held out his hand. "I'll help you back to your tribe." Some part of Amadi knew that he should be taking advantage of finally speaking to another person, but he didn't feel all that social at the moment.

Without much hesitation, the woman reached out and took Amadi's hand, perhaps both greeting him and using him to support herself. "Amadi, huh? I'm Shetani, from the Almasi tribe. The path to the village is that way," Shetani said, motioning towards the path they would have to take. But then she paused, perhaps glancing back at the corpse of the monster that had tried to kill her. "There aren't anymore of those things, are there?"

Amadi turned to the corpse. "There are more, out there. I saw this one going in here, so I followed it." He moved to her side and tried to wrap her arm around his shoulder so that she could lean on him. "One isn't too bad. You're in trouble when they start gathering together." He then glanced at her. "How ready should I be to run as soon as I deliver you?" He reached to snake an arm around her waist to help support her. Amadi was no fool, he knew that the rest of the tribe wouldn't be as ready to accept his presence. He just didn't know how defensive the tribe would be.
