Embarrassment flared in his cheeks. It was one thing to be handicapped and need help, but this was ridiculous. It took all of what was left of his now sorely bruised ego to keep from struggling to escape from the maid's grip. And in his current condition he wasn't even sure that was a good idea. He cleared his throat. "I, huh, can walk...I swear. I've had much worse injuries than this."
Though I can't exactly remember any at the moment. Ah who am I kidding! I've never done anything as stupid as this to get myself into a mess like this one. He sighed and hung his head. There was nothing he could do but hold his head up and bare it, even if it punched a nice big hole in his ego.
He glanced back at Lyra as they walked. Ulric could swear he saw the faintest hint of a smirk on the wolf's lips. Thank Eloria she can't speak! If she could, she'd never let me live this down. I just hope she puts me down before we meet that princess again. I don't know how much more my pride can take.

The maid brought him to the dining room, ignoring his words. Once she entered, Lily's eyes looked up from her meal. She couldn't help but giggle and laugh. Of course, she covered her mouth with her fingers and set down her utensils to welcome him. "Oh my," she started. "I am so sorry about that..."
She smiled sheepishly as her maid set him down in a chair. She eyed Lyra before standing behind her mistress. Lily smiled softly to him across the table. The shawl had slipped off her shoulders and hung around the crook of her elbows, moving only a tad. Her thick hair, over her bare shoulder, framed her face nicely.
"Ah, right. Ahem...please, what would you like? Some fruit? Anything baked? Or...I'm not sure." She sighed. "You wouldn't happen to want steak, would you? My brother and father eat those in the morning..."

Ulric felt as though he would die when he noticed Lily's gaze as he was escorted, or rather carried, into the room. He felt his cheeks redden even more so. He mumbled his thanks to the maid as she placed in the chair. He had never felt quite so humiliated so quickly.
His eyes flashed. Humiliated? "Oh shi-" He didn't even have time to utter the curse word before his body began to morph around him. He whimpered as the pain flared in his leg again, intensified by the sudden bodily change. He felt his body lean to one side, as he could no longer support himself. He toppled over the side of the chair and crashed to the floor.
He felt his ear flatten to the sides of his skull as embarrassment flooded his furry cheeks. Perfect, just absolutely perfect. As if this morning couldn't get anymore painfully embarrassing and humiliating. Maybe I should have just stayed in bed. He glanced up at Lily and her maid. Then again, the maid did carry me here so it's not exactly like I had a choice in the matter. His lips pulled back in an attempt at an apologetic smile.
'Tripping over your feet already? You just met the girl, Ulric.'
Ulric glared back at Lyra and snapped at her. 'Shut up!' He only received a snarling chuckle in return.
(BOOM plot twist XD)

His transformation was surprising, to say the least. Lily yipped and just back in her chair, placing her hand atop her chest. Liane and Diane immediately saw him as a threat.
In one instant second, they were around him, the blades under their sleeves unveiled and pointed at him. Of course, they were near certain he was harmless, but their employer would never take that chance. Neither would they. Lily stood up.
"Wait!" she said, walking around the table.
"Milady-"
"Wait, he's no harm, I promise!" she said, stepping in front of Diane. "At least...I don't think so. A-are you okay? Does this happen to you...I...what?" Her head was near spinning. Since when do people turn into animals? Yes, that sheltered.

Okay, so maybe it was a bad idea to show teeth. Ulric backed up as much as he could, trying to avoid the blades that he was sure were pointed at his throat. His eyes flashed from the maids to the blades and back again. Where in the name of the dragon goddesses did those come from!?
Lyra had recovered from her initial shock and had jumped between the maids and Ulric. Her fur along her spine stood on end and her teeth were bared in defense. 'Good job, brainiac. Five seconds in the room and you're already about to get your head chopped off!'
Ulric swallowed thickly. The things I get myself into... With a bit more effort than he expected, Ulric struggled to his feet. He nudged Lyra aside and stood in front of the maids, his ear drawn back and his tail between his legs in submission. 'I just hope they speak wolf. Otherwise we'll be skewered.' Lyra snorted, but gave no response.
He glanced up at Lily, wishing he could speak. Wow, talk about sheltered. What else does she not know about the rest of the world outside these castle walls. He had the urge to rub his cheek against her leg, but decided against it since the blades were still in his face. He nodded his head to both her questions. More often than you know and that I would care to explain if I could.

"Milday..." Diane said with a sigh. "He is of a tribe, of course. His species can turn into a wolf to a human,"
"Oh, you mean like werewolves?"
"Those," started Liane, "are merely fairytales."
"Hm..." Lily said with a groan, kneeling on the floor. "I see." She reached out her hand. "Shhh...it's okay," she said. Her maids both cleared their throats in unison.
"Milady, please-"
"It's still Ulric!" she said, looking at them. "Please, remove your weapons." The maids sighed and hid the knives. You knew that had more up their sleeve than just blades. She removed the shawl from her shoulders, baring her arms and shoulders. She put the shawl over Ulric's head, thinking he would look cute.
Plus, if he changed back, it would get him warm. That's how it worked, right? She wasn't sure; she needed to do something. The shawl even had her scent. "Can you walk?" she asked. "I'll take you somewhere if you'd like."

Ulric his head, grateful for her maid to have cleared that fact up. Though he flicked his ear in amusement. It seems as if they aren't as sheltered as I thought. But I bet they'd be in for quite a shock if they saw the newest members of the pack. Real flesh and blood werewolves. And who'd have thought?
He stretched out his nose to touch her hand, but stopped when the maids cleared their throats. However, he soon realized the motion was not for him but instead for Lily. He stared at her following her every movement closely. 'Well at least their weapons are out of our faces.' He nudged Lyra who, again, only snorted her response. Ulric could still sense her tension in her body. He was grateful for her as a partner, but he really wished she'd loosen up sometimes. Her tension made him nervous.
Ulric felt his furry cheeks burn as he felt the shawl slip over his head. His ear flicked in agitation and he hung his head. At this rate, I'll never be able to transform back. He glanced back up at her, nodding in response. He wasn't quite sure if he could move around, but he sure as heck wasn't about to stay here with the crazy ninja maids.

Lily nodded graciously, removing her shawl from his head. Guess that was a dumb thing to do. She cleared her throat. "Liane, Diane, will you take a bowl of fruit to my room please?" she asked. The maids cast a glance before one took a bowl of fruit from the kitchen. "Shall we? Er...can you walk like that?" she asked Ulric.
"I am prepared to carry him," came Liane, a smirk on the edge of her lips. "Should the wolf boy need it,"
"Oh, let him limp," came Diane. "He should be fine. I thought the wolf species were a more prideful clan than most." She laughed softly, her sister accompanying her.
"Guys, that's mean," said Lily with a little pout in her lips. "He's still injured, you know." The maids sighed in unison, walking out of the kitchen.
"Come, Lady Einmell," one said.
"Let's figure this out so he may leave..promptly."

Ulric raised a paw and slid it over his snout in a sort of facepalm motion. He didn't know how much more of this he could take. Lily's brother was one thing, but the maids? He was just glad they couldn't read thoughts. He didn't want to leave this so called castle, or whatever they had called the place, but he sure as hell wasn't going to stick around to be treated like a mangy domesticated dog.
Ulric sat up and began to lick at his swollen limb. He could take care of himself if he needed to, yet he couldn't understand why he felt so vulnerable. 'Maybe it's being around humans. They're such strange creatures, and they certainly rub off on you.' He glanced back up at Lily. Every person he had met in the estate had a high sense of self, save for her. She seemed so humble and withdrawn compared to the others.
Curious he stood and limped over to her, merely staring. He still wasn't sure how the maids would react if he so much as touched her. He blinked slowly, studying her closely since that was his only mode of gathering information at the moment.

Lily gave him a warm smile, the simple type that reassured you with its friendliness. She gave him a scratch behind his ears before standing up, dusting off her dress, leaving Ulric at her heels, taking her shawl with her. "Liane, Diane?" she asked, her high heels clicking on the marble floor as she head to the doorway. "My room, please,"
"Are you certain, Lady Einmell?" one asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. Come along, you two." The maids followed closely, one with a fruit basket. They wound around a corridor to the end of a hallway. There was a set of double doors; Diane went ahead to open them, letting them in with a bow.
Lily's room was nothing short of grandeur, The high walls were pressed with patterns of flowers and gold threads, the ceiling arching with beams holding it up. On the far end, the windows opened to a balcony(that she was rarely allowed to go on). To the right was a platform with a couple of steps to reach the top, holding her absurdly large bed. The bed itself even had beams supporting a large canopy.
The fruit basket was set down on a nearby dresser(God knows she had a lot) as Lily walked in, heading to her desk chair. "Liane, Diane...I request that you wait outside for the time being to allow him to recover-"
"My lady-"
"No buts! Please?" she begged. Her maids sighed, nodding, closing the door after Ulric and Lyra swept in.
