Lily bit her lip. True, she did not even have a nobility title; she was just rich. That, and her father does seem to have an amount of power. She stuck her nose in the air. "'Tis fine," she said, not paying much attention to him. "I was beginning to forget about you."
All to true, she was never this snooty. Though, acting all nice and "princess-like" in the "real" word will not get you far. Maybe in some instances, but Liane and Diane told her to use her "sharp wit" and "rapier tongue." Whatever that meant. And if it meant speaking her mind for once, she was all for it.
Though, he did nothing but spout hurtful truths at her. She figured going straight would lead her out in no time. Perhaps she could see the town from that distance as well. "I have spare clothes..." she muttered. True, for the winter, but it was all layered together.
She thought about it. Alright, she was ignorant and naive to a degree, but not especially prideful. He knew way more about the world; compared to him, she was a newborn baby. However, she had to be coy about his request. "...Alright," she said, slowing down Azazel to a stop. "You may accompany me. And as you said, once at the town, we shall part ways."
Lily pressed her lips together. "Furthermore, that wound of yours seems to hinder you...I'll be willing to offer my assistance. But only because it is fair."

He rolled his eyes. "Oh believe me Princess it would do nothing but please me to escort you out of this." He couldn't remember the last time he was ever this nasty, let alone prideful. Even with the pups he couldn't be this bossy. Then again, at least the pups listened to him when he warned them not to do things. And if they didn't and got themselves in trouble then he always got a good laugh out of it. But not this time. This time it was different. The forest was not a place where the untrained could wander. Ulric had heard stories of travelers getting lost in this forest only to turn up as skeletons later.
He snorted indignantly at her offer. "It is not a hindrance. And I suggest you keep close to me. It may be hard for your beast to maneuver here." Without another word he felt his body ripple as it morphed into a wolf. He shook out his fur and then was off, darting through the trees as fast as his wound would allow him.

"Princess?!" As if moving with her emotion, Azazel trotted in place, moving back and forth with a snort. She clenched the reigns between her fists, narrowing her sapphire eyes at him. Alright, he was right to some degree; it was idiotic for her to come out here without a concrete plan, or even a map. Not to mention the "beasts" lingering about. I suppose you can only learn from mistakes, she told herself.
"You're more of a beast than he..." she muttered under her breath. She seriously wanted to shout after him how great she could potentially maneuver around the trees with Azazel, but that would not be wise. She just kicked him lightly and followed the wolf to the best of her ability, moving around and about the trees.
She half wondered if he was secretly leading her back home...if that happened, there would consequences for them both. She shook her head, focusing.

He made sure to keep himself just out of earshot. The last thing he needed was for her to start berating him for insulting her horse. His breath curled into the air as he puffed out another sigh. I swear if it's not one thing it's another. If we don't find this stupid village it will be too soon. He paused at the foot of a large tree and sat back on his hindquarters. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure she wasn't too far behind. Why am I even bothering with her? I could just lead her back to her home and she'd be none the wiser. He blinked and shook out his fur, getting to his paws once more. No, that would not be wise at all. Leading her back there was only get me into more trouble because it'd look like I had kidnapped her. His brown eyes scanned the tree trunks idly. Then, of course, there's the issue of making her miserable for the rest of her life.
He felt Lyra come up beside him. He leaned against her and nuzzled his head against the underside of her neck. A throaty chuckle rumbled in his chest when he felt her teeth nip his ear. Maybe it's better if she's safe in a cage than free in this death trap. Ulric's ear twitch as he heard a noise. Both his and Lyra's heads snapped to attention. A sickeningly familiar scent filled his nose. He bore his teeth, more in irritation than fear. Dammit! I've led her back to the spot where I got attacked. With agonizingly controlled movements he slowly made his way over to Lily, shifting as he went.
"Look, I know you don't like to be told what to do, especially not by someone like me, but I seriously need you to hear me. There is a reason why this part of the woods is so dangerous. It's the territory of a very powerful and temperamental wolf pack." He paused listening for any activity. "If they find us....find you with me. They will kill me and do far worse to you. You do not want to be caught. So I need you to leave your horse, tell him to go back or something, and follow me on foot." He stared her directly in the eyes, hoping she would listen to him.

The girl listened to every word, not missing a single syllable. However, she did not want it to be true. "No...no..." She shook her head, holding Azazel's neck. "No, it's okay! He's fast! Please don't make me leave him," she begged, a tear almost forming in her eyes. She jumped off, still holding the reigns. "Listen, we don't have to separate with him. Azazel is a smart horse."
The girl glanced around, pushing some hair behind her ear. She sucked in her bottom lip, looking at the wolf before her. "How long do we have? Maybe we can make a diversion or something! But I'm not leaving Azazel behind," she said. Her eyes narrowed and her lips pressed forward in a pout, but her irregular breaths gave away her doubts. She pressed her head against the horse's, not wanting to let Ulric see her face.

"Believe me, I get it. Asking you to separate from your horse is like asking me to separate from Lyra." He glanced down at his beloved partner and stroked her head. A sigh passed his lips, from both exasperation and reluctance. He hated the fact that he was making himself out to be the bad guy. But he hated knowing what would happen to her if they were caught was because of his stupidity. He pinched the bridge of his nose before moving a bit closer. He placed a light hand on her shoulder. "Look, I know you know your beast much better than I, but I know these monsters a lot better than you."
He paused, listening to the wind rustle the leaves. The utter stillness in the air made his hair stand on end. Lyra began to growl menacingly beside him. "Fine! Have it your way, but when he goes down under a pack of wolves I don't want to see any tears." His body rippled momentarily and he fell forward on heavy paws. He barely dodged as the first of the wolves burst through the underbrush. With a snarl he snapped at the wolf, hoping to sink his teeth into the other wolf.

Lily held back a scream. She clamped her hand over her mouth, stepping back, pulling Azazel with her. The horse, startled, kicked around. It snorted and neighed, wanting to be let go. She did not have much time left. The girl bit her lip, trying to calm it down. "Wait! Stop it!" she cried out, pulling it down. She hurriedly took her little pack of things off the saddle and dropped it on the ground.
She took one last look at the horse, even if it was for a split second. Trying not to cry, she gave its head one last hug before slapping its side. "Go!" With a neigh, it was off, galloping through the forest. She looked around, trying to think of what to do, now that her horse was gone.
"Okay...wolves..." All she has was a barrier spell. It would not do much good. If Ulric could dance with them a little... She dug into her pack, searching frantically. "Food...extra clothes...stufd=f..." She growled. "Dammit...I really hope they packed me something useful."

With the combination of protecting Lily and her horse and trying to actually cause damage, Ulric was at a loss. He had managed to grab a hold of his first target, however a second wolf from the side had tackled him and managed to flip him on his back. His ears flattened against his head and his pupils dilated in fear. He struggled with his attacker, trying to dislodge him. Unfortunately the wolf was much larger than he was and his teeth were aimed straight at his throat. Ulric manage to strain his throat away just in time, but his shoulder was not so lucky. He felt teeth sink into his shoulder and a sound so full of bestial pain erupted from his throat.
Without another thought the rest of the scouts descended upon him and he felt jaws gripping him from every side. One on his ear, another on his cheek, and the last on his already injured leg. He dared not change back for fear of his fragile human body not being able to withstand the beating. His wolf body, however, was not fairing much better. He could barely make out the form of his partner Lyra managing her own demon wolf.
She glanced at him between strikes, waiting to find an opening. However, the massive werewolf before her made matters difficult. It was no wonder why the pack was so strong. With the combination of werebeast and half-man creatures they made for a formidable force. However, though they were stronger than most, they were not quite as fast. The moment Lyra had the chance she broke away from her opponent and made an effort to run towards Ulric to help.

By some miracle, she found exactly what she needed. Matches! she thought in her head. That would work! She glanced at Ulric trying his best, and Lyra...poor Azazel. She bit her lip and pressed on, grabbing a nearby branch that would do. "Hey, wolves!" She lit the match and it the branch to flame, putting out the match. "Eat this!" And she swung it back and forth, trying to push them away.
Wolves hated fire, right? But what creature didn't! Her knees shook and her arms trembled, but this is what it meant, being in a world like this. She watched the fire slowly lick down the branch. Great, how was she supposed to put it out later? Step on it? Probably. Oh dear. "Back!"
