Lily tried swallowing back the swell in her throat. She did not even cast him a glance as he left. As the door opened, she called out to her maids. "Liane! Escort him out. Diane!" she called. "I'd like to go out to the stables early. May I dress in my riding outfit?" she asked.
Was she a fool for not heeding what he said? She wondered what he even meant by saying that. Corrupted. Perhaps Ulric would have turned out to be a bad person? Yet he was so young. Diane walked in and nodded, dressing Lily in her blue outfit; made for comfort.
First, it was a white blouse then what seemed to be a regal military-like blue jacket. The sleeves were puffed and she wore gloves. She looked very noble indeed.
Meanwhile, Liane walked Ulric and Lily to the foyer. "The young lady seemed most distressed," she commented. "I hope you have done nothing to upset her. Hm." She shrugged. "Which way will you be going?"

Another sigh and he began to make his way out. "Fine then, have it your way Princess." He didn't even bother to say good-bye. He felt so conflicted. Hopefully he had convinced her to stay where she was safe, yet the look in her eyes told him otherwise. The look of betrayal. The same one Mimi had given him the night she left with only her loyal wolf companion. He should have felt better about leaving her and yet he felt terrible.
He snorted at the maid's response not minding his manners since he was on his way out anyway. What more could they do to him? "It's not like she'd listen to me anyway, so what does it matter." He glanced up at the open door before him. He glared over his shoulder at the maid. "You can stop following me, it's not like I'd be willing to stay in this prison anyways. I don't need to be coddled like a pup." With some effort he straightened himself up and did his best to hide his limp. If he was being thrown out the least he could do was hold his head high and not limp off like a wounded animal.
(I'm just gonna time skip here since she's supposed to escape later)
He'd been walking for way seemed like hours, but he had barely moved. He could still see the top of the mansion in the distance even with the trees blocking his vision. "At this rate I'll never get anywhere." He sighed and glanced up at the trees. "Well I could try to climb this tree." He glanced back at his partner. "But that'd leave you down here by yourself." He reached down to scratch under her chin. She in turn licked his hand. "Guess we'll just have to stick it out together." He walked over to the trunk of a tree and leaned against it. His breath hissed out as he eased himself down the trunk until his body was on the ground. Ulric felt his eyes begin to droop as the golden rays of the sunset set the tree leaves ablaze with color.

Sunset was upon them. Lily had her fill of lunch and even some dinner, over eating a little. She thought it would help her, even if she did feel queasy. Liane and Diane were not as bad as they looked either. They were prepared to let her escape even without an escort.
They loved their young lady, enough to know that perhaps maybe she did have to live out there, even for a while. Of course, they assumed she would come back.
Lily did not think so. She thought she would take one look at the manor and never return. Her black horse, Azazel, was ready to go. He trot in place, anxious to leave; he was always full of energy. Liane wrapped a cloak around Lily, securing it as Diane secured her sack of things to the back of the saddle.
"You be good, Young Lady," Diane said. "But you must hurry, the guards will make their way here soon,"
"Thank you," she said, her heart racing. "Liane, Diane, I will never forget you. You two have been like mothers to me." She gave her maids their final hugs and goodbyes before she heard the cry of the guards. They urged her to go. With a neigh, Azazel sped off toward the forest near the back of the Einmell estate.
Her maids would lead the guards in the opposite direction. She rode toward the front and rode on for a while. She had to get to the forest quick. Once the trees became dense, she was forced to tug on the reins and slow her horse down. "Whoa, boy, whoa." Azazel snorted as Lily made him trot through the trees, keeping an even pace but still slow enough to maneuver him. She seemed safe for now.

The wind combed through his hair as he sat there. At some point his leg began to throb again, but Ulric chose to ignore it. It wasn't like he could exactly do anything about it. Well, he couldn't do much in his current condition. His leg was on fire and he began to feel a fever beginning to set in. He coughed. "Probably from sitting out here in the cold and from the rain last night." He leaned over to smell his clothes. They definitely were beginning to reek with the smell of wet dog, now that they weren't quite as damp. With a sigh he tried to push himself up from the trunk. This only aggravated his cough and he gripped his chest in a vain attempt to quiet his cough.
He cursed, feeling his breath escaping him. He felt the cold nose of his partner nudge his arm and he turned to her. "Hey girl, you feeling okay? You're not sick too are you?" Lyra shook her head and stretched up to lick his cheek. "Of course you aren't you lucky dog." She snorted and feigned an insult. Ulric couldn't help but laugh.
Then he heard the sound even pace of hoof steps. His head jerked up. A horse? Here? But how? An image of Lily's brother on horseback flashed in his mind. He shook his head. No, it couldn't be. I left this morning just like he asked. His brow creased and he felt anger flare in his chest. Why would he have any inclination to trust that spoiled rotten thug anyways? Without hesitation he proceeded to haul himself into the tree as best he could. He knew he couldn't out run them on horseback, but maybe if he surprised he could spook the horses into throwing them. That at least would give him enough time to put some distance between he and his hunters, plus take away their slight advantage.

Azazel trotted with a spring in his step, but enough to maneuver around the thick of trees. At nightfall soon approached, Lily lowered her hood, looking back. There was cold sweat on her brow, her cheeks red. Her heart raced and she could hear it in her ear. There was not a sound in the forest.
She took a breath before giving herself a hearty "ahaha!" in triumph. "I did it," she breathed. "I actually did it! Hmph," she gave herself a smug look. Azazel fussed around a bit, so she pet his mane and shushed him softly. "It's alright, boy," she said. "We'll have to travel all night to get away from here. Let's go."
Of course, she thought she would travel all night. She certainly had the determination to; the will, though, was another story. She carried on until she was in the same spot as a certain wolf. Azazel started snorting and moving his head, sensing a presence. "Hey, hey!" she said tugging on reins. "What's gotten into you?"

Ulric shifted as he heard the horse moving closer. He was careful to keep his injured leg steady so the branch would not shudder under his weight. He felt his lips draw back as a defensive growl rumbled in his chest. Now or never. He steeled himself for the ambush. But it never came. The sound of the familiar voice stopped him and his concentration was broken. That voice! He glanced under him and sure enough he spied the unmistakable color of Lily's hair amongst the underbrush. His nose wrinkled in anger. She had deliberately ignored his advise and now had put herself in danger.
While Ulric sat stewing in the tree above Lily and her horse, Lyra was already preparing for her attack. She had smelled her from far off, but she had disregarded it as her nose confusing that with the smell of her on Ulric. Unfortunately for her, she was wrong and now she was bent on protecting Ulric should the Princess decide to haul him back into the castle. A menacing growl rumbled in her chest. She made it a point to be heard.
In a flash she burst from behind the bushes and charged at the horse. She snapped at the horse's feet, aiming to have the horse buck Lily off. However, she readied herself for another snap of her jaws if the horse needed more convincing.

The minute Lyra jumped out, Azazel was startled. He whinnied and bucked around. After a minute of trying to calm him down, he bucked her off, and Lily fell to the forest floor with a thud. She cried out in pain; of course she's been bucked off before, but it still hurt.
She groaned, propping herself on her elbows and looking up. She felt bruises and scratches on her arms from landing on twigs. She had to move out of the way when Azazel back up from Lyra in a frenzy. "Whoa, whoa!" she said, standing up quickly. Though, before she could reach him, she froze and saw her.
Though, she didn't recognize the attacker as Lyra. She just bit her lip and reached for her horse. "Alright..." she said through pants. "Don't...good dog..."

The hackles on Lyra's back raised and she puffed out her chest, aiming to appear even more menacing. She kept her teeth bared as she moved in, evading the stomping hooves of the horse. She glared at Lily, studying her. She didn't plan on harming her, rather just scaring her back out of the forest. She knew Ulric would forgive her if any harm came to Lily because of her own teeth. She lunged again this time snapping at Lily's feet.
"Enough!" Ulric jumped from the branch he had hand been sitting on. He stumbled a bit from the shock that raced up his legs. He winced as he straightened himself up from his crouch and stared directly at Lily. "What are you doing here!? I told you this is no place for a Princess like you. What if that hadn't been Lyra, hm? What if that was some rabid wolf and I wasn't here?" He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Honestly, do you think anything you do through?"

Lily had to think, but she had no time to do so. Any minute she could end up as wolf feed. How many of these would there be? Perhaps she could get a stick and somehow light it on fire? Argh, no time for that! When it snapped at her feet, she jumped with a yelp and grabbed Azazel's reigns. Running. Running seemed like the best option.
Suddenly it all stopped. He had fallen out of the tree and stopped Lyra. She was about to thank him if it were not for the words he said. Lily pouted with a scowl. She scoffed and mounted Azazel. "I'm not a princess," she said. "And moreover, yes, I do think things through. I've been planning this for a while. I was just...waiting for the right time...and maybe the right person, but I suppose I was wrong in that prospect."
Azazel started trotting in place again. She put the hood over her head again before looking at them from atop the horse. "I wasn't planning on traveling alone...or traveling much for that." She grinned; all sense of urgency was lost on her at the moment. "If you MUST know, I'm going to settle down someplace quiet and become a nurse. Don't like it? Then leave me alone." And so, at a small trot, Azazel went off. He could not run in this forest, not until they reached the plains.

Ulric couldn't help but scoff. "Not a princess? Well you had me fooled, cause ya damn well look and act like one." He folded his arms leaning on Lyra. He was trying his best to not appear to be injured. The fall hadn't exactly reopened the wound but it sure made it tender. He made a mental note to himself to look for something to bind his leg with. He was pretty sure it would be hell to run on, so he'd have to walk. Not being mobile made him nervous, but being slow and wounded made him even more so.
He wasn't even going to ask what her plans were, he had a feeling that they were no where as extensive as they needed to be in a situation like this. "Look, don't pin that on me because I was trying to help you out." He pinched the bridge on his nose. This back and forth was getting him nowhere. He wasn't going to be satisfied until she was out of this forest, however long that would take. He'd just have to suck it up and deal with it. As much as he hated having to deal with ignorance, he couldn't just leave her. It would be wrong.
He sighed. "Do you even know where the nearest town is? Or how big this place really is?" He glanced up to see her moving away. With a slight groan of agitation, he began to follow her. "Look, I know you're no fan of criticism or me telling you what to do. But you seriously don't know what is in this forest. From what I can tell you've been stuck up in that mansion. You've never been out in the forest, I mean, just look at how you've dressed for this trip. You really think that this trip is going to be a cakewalk don't you?"
He shook his head. "Actually, don't answer that." He glanced up as he walked along side the horse. "Well if you're dead set on killing yourself on this suicide mission, then I'm at least coming with you to make sure you don't actually hurt yourself. But once you get there, I'm gone."
